    He did it at the Worlds Fair in front of tons of people. As for the load on the bar, we ultimately have to trust that the weights are accurate but this is no different than today. No matter what our experience is with the calibration tools they say they use, there’s no iron clad guarantee that there’s no subterfuge in the weights used in a lift especially in a setting like the Arnold stage where there’s financial incentive for the lift to succeed.
