Hello Chad. Could you please record a video on creating a VSM for services? My use case is an attorney's office. The attorneys wait for documents and can work on a few steps of the case based on document availability. Each case vary in number of steps and cycle times. For a use case like that I'm leaning towards working with averages number of steps, cycle time etc. Would you approach in a different way? Thanks in advance

Hi Tatiana. Thank you for the question. First, let me ask you: what are you trying to accomplish? Is there a problem? Or are you simply trying to document the value stream so you can ensure takt rate (customer needs) and/or improve the process through TOC? I think I know what you’re looking for (and I have an answer) but I want to be sure. Let me know and I’ll see if I can help you out! 😊

@@learnkaizen first and foremost thank you for the fast response. You got it. I'm trying to document the current state as you said to model it in a software that can do what-if analysis. I know that the process can be broken in a few milestones but each attorney take diferente amount of time in each milestone. I have already collected data on the cycle time for each milestone and now I'm wondering If there is a better approach than using average or mode results in the VMS. PS: I started studying for ASQ SSBB and your channel has been a wonderful source of info. Thank you so much!

Tatiana, I was re-reading your question (preparing to make a video)...I have to ask a few more questions...1) Can you provide me with examples of each milestone? 2) are the milestones basically process steps (if not, can you explain the milestones), 3) In your original question, you stated that each case can vary in number of steps, cycle time etc. I understand this but - IS EVERY CASE DIFFERENT? or are there commonalities with 80% of the cases? What I mean is: 20% of the cases may be unique while 80% share similarities and can be bucketed into categories with expectations on CT for each process step...This is a transaction process, I've done lots of these but just need a little clarification for the video...apologies for the delay. I'm traveling 75% with my current role...just got home and I had to put up Christmas lights...it's that time of year!

Hello. I’ve recently started Six Sigma Greenbelt training through Simplilearn. Would you say that Simplilearn is a thorough training program.

@@learnkaizen I chose the program because it’s not as expensive as other programs, but not too cheap, if that makes sense.

@@jessicagrooms2198 makes sense. Were you just looking for some general training to advance your career? I know many job descriptions list green belt as a requirement but believe me, they are looking for the results that a potential candidate should yield - if they know how to apply Lean & Six sigma. I say all of this to encourage you to apply what you learn and document your progress on an A3 at the minimum. Using a DMAIC presentation is also a great idea. Keep a binder of your achievers and then articulate them on your resume as quantifiable successes. Think I got starting a membership sit to help folks just like you…would you be interested! I can send you a link when it’s launched. If not - no worries - just keep watching these videos and ask questions when you need additional help! Hope I’ve helped in this comment (even if only a little) thanks for your support! 🙏

@@learnkaizen yes, please send the link. Acquiring a Greenbelt is something that I’m doing for myself in hopes that it will advance my career. I have an extensive background in manufacturing and I’m very familiar with Lean.
