Why didn’t you do the oil pump, while it was apart?

How did you tighten your cam sprockets did you need a tool to hold the cams in place or did you use vise grips or is none of that necessary?

Nice work brother!! Do you know if the aviator timing will fit on a Mach 1 ??

Other videos show the key ways on the cams. Should be facing down, pointing toward the direction of the crank. Not up.

Same exact chain broke on mine,I can't find the tools anywhere locally that are for the crank and cams, is there any way for me to set time without smashing a valve?

Ok so on the crank gear it has a mark on the front and back. I take it the mark on the back is because it’s reversible? I really wish I would have known that if it’s true before bc that’s probably why my engine is back apart lol. I didn’t realize both chain marks go on the same tooth on the gear.

good video my brother ,,i got 2004 maruader 112,000 miles on it..eventually im gonna have do my engine it has that rattle sound only when u frist start it up for about few seconds then it goes away..maybe timming chain tensioner latting the chain slap to the oil fill them or hydraullio cylinder in the tensionerare alittle worn

I did my 4v timing chain not to long ago, motor has not gone in the car yet (still have to pull the old 2v) after I did the timing chain the motor would spin by hand, but tries to stop but with little force it will spin almost on its own for a second. Then spins freely, happens every few turns. Is it possible that the resistance is just valves opening, or is it something major. (I dont have spark plugs in the motor)

@@DriftDreams242 that’s what mine does, just takes a little effort to get it to get past that point every now and then. So if it was anything major or detrimental it would stop completely?

Awesome job/video. I have a quick question. I'm doing this job as we speak. I replaced the chain guides because they were broken. I didn't remove the chains but I made sure the crank was TDC. After installing the guides and new tensioners. The crank turns but it will stop at some point. I was told to remove the chains and set the timing again before re-installing the chains again making sure the marks of the Crank & Cams Sprockets matched the ones in the chains. Anyway, after I removed the chains I tried to turn the crank but same thing. It stops at some point. So, I can't even put it back on TDC again. Can you tell me what would stop it from turning if there's no chains? The Cams can turn without problems. Sorry for the long message. Thanks for any help.

@@DriftDreams242 Thanks a bunch man. I was told to try put tge crank mark in TDC even if I had to turn counterclockwise. They said without chains the pistons won't turn freely because it's possible the valves won't allow it to turn all the way.

@@DriftDreams242 well, you were right on spot. Truck had a blown head gasket and the pistons were filled with coolant. I had to pull the heads and do the whole head/chain job. The Aviator is running like new. Thanks for all the tips and help. You the man!! 👍🏼

@@nktwrk73 I have an Aviator 2005 ran into same problem. No mechanic will touch it. Just want to replace motor. Started with low oil pressure light at idle. Pulled plugs and found oil in passenger side cylinder heads in two of pistons. Guessing valve guides leaking by or head gasket. The key to all this appears to be getting the #1 cylinder to top dead center before taking anything apart and not allowing the cams to move when taking chains off. Good luck.
