    How much torque did you give to the bolts of the heads and the one of the elevator shafts?

  • @transambeing
    @transambeing Жыл бұрын

    How much torque did you use when you put on your cam sprockets The book says 30 ft lb then 90° more but I'm not sure you can do that when you're reusing the bolts as the originals I'm assuming stretch. I've read on some threads that 90 to 100 lb is good with some loctite thanks in advance 🤗

    @@DriftDreams242 Lol I probably won't do that 🤣. Thanks for your honesty May I ask did you have any engine issues by only tightening them and not torquing them?

    Man that scares me to death and I’m going to need to do it to my 3v pretty soon when I build a forged bottom end. At least I’ve got 2 less cams to deal with but it still terrifies me. If I knew for a fact I could do it I’d pull my factory engine down now to put in the steel oil pump gear cuz I’ve heard the factory aluminum ones tend to break especially at higher horsepower which on the bottle mine is putting down somewheres around 500 to the wheels. Just hope it last till I can find another shortblock to build. I changed the cams a couple weeks ago which I was honestly pretty afraid to do but that turned out easy because the chains didn’t come off the sprockets..

    I used to have a 3v. Well I still sorta have one but I gave it to my dad. I heard their stock chains suck

    @@DVACreations well I didn’t know it till I put the cams in but the previous owner obviously put on a brand new timing set phasers rollers and everything it was all brand new so maybe I won’t have any trouble out of it. It’s just over 100k miles now. Full bolt ons 4.10 gears cams and 100 shot. Plan on finding another shortblock or even long block to build while I drive it with the current setup and soon as the built shortblock is done ima put it in and hopefully put some boost to it if nothing else it’ll get more nitrous till I can get a turbo kit or super charger kit

    @@DriftDreams242 yea 4.10’s definitely wake them up. Keeps the engine higher in the rpms in the powerband. Most ppl think it kills your gas mileage but it really didn’t affect mine too much. Only downside I see is I can only cruise at 75mph now on the interstate and I’m around 2600rpm. If I need to push it 80mph at about 2800rpm

    @@DriftDreams242 yea 500 to the wheels all the time would be a blast lol. My car make around 375rwhp on motor. It’s only putting down 500 on the bottle. But it’s on a wide open throttle switch so as long as the nitrous is armed every time I floor it, it’s spraying.

    @@DriftDreams242 it’s definitely a game changer if you don’t have the money for boost. I’ve probably got just over $1000 in my whole setup think the zex kit I got was around $650 then I got a cheap dynotune eBay brand bottle heater $60 a comp regulator $60 random wiring switches relays and fuses maybe $50 a $160 zex purge kit glow shift cabin n2o digital psi gauge $100 and a glow shift wide band $200. Which I really didn’t need all of that just wanted it. Cost me $80 every other week to fill my bottle though lol
