In this video, I show you my 33 year old Diana RWS model 36 air rifle. I have owned this rifle since 1989, but it was originally built in West Germany in 1987. I have owned and used it for 33 years and it is the best air rifle I have ever owned. It is still all original from the factory and still functioning perfectly after 33 years of heavy use.

Hello Sir and thank you for your very informative helpful video. Your Diana Model 36 looks fantastic and more than capable. My father left me two air rifles, one in.177, calibre, the other in .22. Initially I thought they were Weihrauch HW35's. They're not. They are Diana Original Model 35's. From what I can find out, this model wasn't that great. Did Diana move production from Germany to India? There seems to be a lot of Indian gentlemen on Utube renovating old, nasty, ill treated ones. That's were I learned to strip them. The .22 Model I own, I purchased a new piston and breech seal. I made a top hat out of delrin bar and sleeved the spring guide and inside the piston. I lubed it all up and put back together. It shoots fantastic now, no twang/buzz at all. That was the .22 calibre. I'm going to do the .177 calibre now. I much prefer .177 calibre. They fly flatter, hit harder and quicker. I think they're great. Sir, if you could tell me anything about the Diana Original Model 35, if it was highly rated, that would fantastic,Sir. Thankyou, Ian.

$100 for a RWS 36! Man, you are so lucky! You will love this gun. Just remember that it is best shot free hand or on a pillow. Trying to stabilize it by locking it down will result in inaccuracy. For pellets, I recommend JSB Exact Kings, if you can find them, but it shoot anything well.

I have a Diana model 27 inherited from my father, bought more than forty years ago. Unfortunately relatively low powered so that I don't know if it really makes sense for taking down that damn raccoon that left one of our hens so badly wounded that I had to kill it. But still working precise and without any problem.

Wow, what a great review of this rifle. I bought the exact model maybe as long as 40 years ago-just a guess. I'd rest it on a folded up moving mat on top of a swamp cooler in Monrovia, CA. Loved it but haven't shot it in years. Until I saw your very cool video I was planning on selling it. Now I'm questioning that move. I'm 82 and have decided to get rid of a lot of stuff I never use and my RWS 36 in now in question as to its fate. Cheers, Neill (Portland, OR now)

If it has not been shot for a while it may need a little oil. Get you some simple gun oil. Nothing will solvents in it like WD-40, just plain gun oil. You may two people to do this. Hold the gun vertically and cock the barrel just slightly to expose the pistol chamber hole. Place a single drop of oil on the hole and immediately cock the barrel to draw the oil into the pistol chamber. Then, shoot five pellets through the rifle to clear out the excess oil. Never dry-fire this gun. The first couple of shots will sound a little different because of the oil dieseling, but this is okay. This process will lubricate the piston seal and pistol chamber and should smooth things up. On this rifle, you need to repeat this process every 1000 shots. Some people will tell you not to do this but don't listen. My gun is almost 35 years old and I have done this since I bought it, and it is all original. Newer guns do not require this process but this one does.
