    I followed the instruction, using RWS products, and got a single detonation. I'm steamed! A little on-line research and I find out others have the same experience. Brilliant. Pyramid Air suggests lubing the chamber less frequently, with less oil. Others are even leaving the rifle a day before firing so oil evaporates, leaving the lube behind. RWS should mention this.

    I just got this rife today. I did put a different scope on it because it has zoom. The stock scope is very clear I’m sure it’s good , but I shoot out to 25 yards and beyond. Very Impressed with this rifle. This is my first Gamo I have several other brands but I like this one as well.

    By switching the "Oiler", (applicator needle), from the spring lube to the chamber lube you just cross contaminated your two different oils. How much spring lube from the oiler just went into the air compression chamber? The cleaning kit should come with two applicator needles.

  • @MtnBadger

    @MtnBadger

    4 жыл бұрын

    Or be sure to push enough of the current oil out to clear the needle before oiling the part. Good catch... Though the argument may be made that not enough oil is contained in the needle to make a significant difference/impact.

    @Chopslord We recommend RWS chamber oil. (Umarex USA website, search for "oil" on the lefthand side, first result that says "RWS Airgun accessories") The oil rag they are using is a patch designed specifically for airguns. That would likely be the preferred type to use. (I have seen people use all kinds of different rags though)

    I am a Tuba player and I enjoy plinking and vermin hunting, with my reliable .177 break barrel. I Found out that my Tuba piston oil is actually a lot better than the RWS oil, as it is not petroleum based, and it doesn't leave any kind of excess inside my gun. the best is that it is cheaper. anyway, if you are going to take the trip to the music shop for your "Fast valve oil" don't walk in on your hunting outfit.. you might get some funky looks...

    It could be. It could also be due to the types of O-Rings on the air rifle. I've much experience with paintball markers and I find that petro based lubricants do erode the buna-nitrile o-rings a bit over time and can cause leaks. I don't recall such an effect on the polyurethane o-rings though. I would say silicone lubricants are best for any kind of o-ring under these kinds of pressure.

    If you are talking about the chamber lube, you should only buy oil that is specifically made for spring piston airguns, since it has a very high flashpoint. Using the wrong oil can cause more harm than good, ie, dieseling, seal deterioration, bad accuracy. Order something else when you order and the shipping cost won't feel so bad.

    I did this, and right afterward shot it... perhaps that was a bad idea? I've only performed this maintenance on my rifle twice, and both times it dieseled when i fired the first shot. Now it was kind of cool because it totally made the pellet brake the sound barrier with its extra punch. But, I'm still worried of what damage it may have caused. =[ Btw, yes... I only put one drop of RWS "CHAMBER" lube in the cylinder. I wonder if I just need to let it set for awhile before shooting?

    @dudrhkd7 Not true...BEEMAN says the cleaning pellets are designed to be shot out of the barrel..that's why you use TWO pellets together in order to maintain resistance. BEEMAN also suggests using dry MOLY powder on the mainspring, or MOLY grease..NEVER oil. Only oil the piston deal, and the breech seal. Don't use oil in the barrel except when storing the gun.. oil is the gunk that you are cleaning out in the first place!

    Have you done any research as to the negative effects caused by dry barrel friction ? If you havent you should , all barrels should be kept oiled

  • @japonaliya

    @japonaliya

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@michaelledford4751 I am not talking about dry barrel friction. You do not use oil in an air gun barrel when in use. It causes dieseling which unless you use a gun designed for that like the EL 54 Barakuda, you will do much harm to your gun. Of course you swab the barrel with oil or grease when storing, but between uses in the short term you use a non inflammable lube. It also depends on your gun type. Piston guns need more lube than co2 or pneumatic compressed air guns. I also shoot black powder so I know what is good and not good for a gun barrel.

    Get some Ballistol put in barrel with a bore snake ( if you get .22 firearm version of a boresnake take out the imbedded brush there is a video on KZread for that it could damage the rifling) run that through about 5 times. Then get a second bore snake (preferably for a .22 air rifle) and put silicone oil ONLY in the barrel and do the same (not too much) and run it through 4-5 times and then wipe the breach seal with a shop cloth that has a few drops of silicone oil (it’s important it’s not petroleum based it degrades the seals) and your done cleaning the inside. Get another shop cloth and spray a light coating of some more Ballistol and Wikipedia down the outside receiver and barrel and that’s a sufficient for a quick clean. Now internally is different from each gun manufacturer.

    A copper brush won't hurt the steel barrel. Use plastic every 100 rounds. Copper every 1000. Cotton is a mop, it's nice to have separate ones for 1) wiping down the bore after cleaning and removing grit (remove it after it's been pushed through the muzzle rather than drag it back through), 2) final wipe to remove excess oil.

    Lol no propellant. The crud in the barrel is just the stuff they put on the outside of pellets so they don't rust. Lol you have to season your barrel to make it most accurate anyway. Lmao cleaning after 100 or 1000 shots no thanks. So unnecessary.

    All metals do oxidize at differing rates, but "rust" is only associated with "ferrous metals", (metal with iron in it), like the barrel is probably made out of if it can rust. Lead has no iron in it, and they do not rust. Pellets may be coated with something, but I am sure many are raw also. One famous rust preventive for guns right out of the factories has been the use of "Cosmoline". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmoline Different manufactures use different rust inhibitors for shipping from the factory I am sure, but if they are anything like cosmoline, you better clean the barrel before you shoot IMO.
