Break Barrel Air Rifle Maintenance Part 3

This is a video series about the disassembling and greasing/lubrication of the break barrel air rifle Weihrauch HW95 or Beeman R9.
This video can be used as a tutorial how to maintain your break barrel air rifle, it doesn't have to be my model. 99% of all break barrel air rifles share the same parts.
Four major steps are demonstrated in this series of videos:
1. Disassembly
2. Removal of factroy grease
3. Re-greasing with MoS2 grease and Napier grease
4. Reassembly
And the final step is to test the velocity with a Chrony.

Thank you for the tip on using the piece of rubber. It worked great and I would not have thought of it.

It's shown in the video. Disassemble the rifle, remove the cocking link and cocking lever from the cylinder and out of the piston and unscrew the barrel hinge screw. Now the barrel and cocking lever comes off as one piece. To seperate the barrel from the cocking lever, you need a center punch to drive out the bolt from the right side. You need to strike the bolt with the punch with much force, otherwise it will not come out.

Never had a problem with it and I'm shooting this HW95 for good two years now. I admit I used too much grease in this video. It's enough to lightly coat the piston a bit on the piston seal's outside surface. The spring can be covered with heavy tar.

Thanks for the kind notice! Read this myself in a forum already with the exact same description you gave me here. I think I also annotated it in the video.

Yeah I hear you. I've stopped doing that. I only lube the piston lightly and not the actual chamber anymore. Works better and is less time consuming. I made a video about the HW97 lubrication with better lube job.

@Asys1985 You don't have to oil any parts inside. Just wipe down the metal works with a lightly oiled cloth. That's really all you need to do. For the occasional barrel cleaning a bit weapon oils helps too.

You can use any Moly MoS2 bases lubricant for your air rifle. Contact your airgun supplier or Weihrauch directly to get a new 10 Joules spring.

I would put one more tin of pellets through and if it doesn't settle down after that open up the rifle and clean all excess lubricant off. Sometimes HW puts way too much lube in their rifle.

The rifle produces only 7,5 Joules, hasn't so much spring pre-load than higher powered rifles, hence no compressor. Look on the internet or ask your gunsmith for parts for your airgun. Where I live there is no Beeman Mod. 1051 for sale.

Hi, nice video. It was very helpful to disassemble my HW57 which has the same triggerblock. One thing I disagree (or do not understand correctly): why do you put grease on the inside of the outer tube? This way: when entering the piston, all grease will be pushed to the front of the piston seal and stay there, which should be avoided. I think it would be better not to put any grease on the inside of the outer tube, but only on the outside of the piston.

Have you accuracy problems or not? Is the barrel moving or just the cocking arm? If there is no noticable decline in accuracy it's not a problem. Otherwise you would need to shim the barrel inside the claw.

all in all an excellent video! for those who just want to critique this? whatever! you are imparting knowledge that 9/10 of the people had none of prior to this! Great job! I could do this with your video! minus some of the grease! lol Tank You!

Your English is extremely good. However the "two washers" that fit either side of the barrell pivot are actually "shims" and sometimes of a machined thickness.

For a German, this guy is really sloppy. He works on a hard wood table with hard steel parts, and gets the table all greasy, has to manhandle parts to get them out, and then struggles to reassemble and forgets parts... He has young hands, however, he must be 18-19 years old. Nice attempt for a young person. Next time, work with a towel under the gun, and write down the order you did the disassembly...

No need to worry. The finish on this rifle sucked anyways because HW fucked it up badly. I already sent it in once for a refinishing job but that didn't really make it any better. So, in conclusion the hard wooden surface didn't hurt the rifle at all.
