Break Barrel Air Rifle Maintenance Part 4

This is a video series about the disassembling and greasing/lubrication of the break barrel air rifle Weihrauch HW95 or Beeman R9.
This video can be used as a tutorial how to maintain your break barrel air rifle, it doesn't have to be my model. 99% of all break barrel air rifles share the same parts.
Four major steps are demonstrated in this series of videos:
1. Disassembly
2. Removal of factroy grease
3. Re-greasing with MoS2 grease and Napier grease
4. Reassembly
And the final step is to test the velocity with a Chrony.

    I will do a better series with the HW95 in a few days which will be more convenient to watch, A LOT more convenient. This four part series here is way too long and boring to watch. Thanks for the comment.

    Thank you Sr I did not know that about the crony. Here in Canada the limit for air guns is 495FPS anything over requires an FPAL to buy and or own. I've always had air guns as well as high powered rifles. But have in the past few years come to enjoy the art of shooting air rifles well. I have the Gamo Viper .177@1200fps and the Crossman Nitro Venom .22@950fps to name 2 of many. My wife can't figure out why I need so many LOL. Cheers mate great instructional video

    It's almost the same but instead of punching out two pins and four of those small retaining blocks you only have to punch out two pins that hold in the spring, piston and the trigger group inside. But be careful, the trigger group can be under tremendous tension and by punching the pins you could damage your cylinder and or trigger group in the process of disassembling the rifle. Spring compressor is suggested or VERY strong arms.

    When unscrewing and screwing stock, it is best to do it slowly by turning each screw just a bit, so all of them hold the stock with the same force at the same time. This way you don't have one screw tightened and others loose because this can bend tightened screw and also damage thread. I'm pretty sure this much grease causes dieseling or at least go in front of the piston seal. This video is great, i learned how to work on HW85 because i didn't have previous experiences with this system. Thanks for sharing it!

    Thanks man, I did my HW 30 a few years ago, but recently left it cocked, so now I have to repeat this procedure that I learned from you. I have 30 guns, about half handguns. I killed deer, and small game with my 44 magnum and 38 Special revolvers, but the gun control nuts are trying to mess things up for us.

    Is the trigger still engaged? Press the trigger if you have cocked the sear during the rifle's assembly. Second tip is don't use more than two of the washers that came with the kit. Third tip, did you install the piston the right way?

    Haven't had a problem ever since and used paper towels on a few other rifles as well since this video and never had a problem. I don't use toilet paper LOL that's kitchen paper with pretty big fibers and is very strong. I don't think it will harm the rifle. But thanks for the advice.

    fantastic videos. ive been very cautious about taking apart my rifle the most i done just last week was take off the stock and barrel, but these videos have helped me see theres really nothing to it, its just knowing what to do. so thanks you, gun will be getting a full re-greasing tomorrow night. Out of curiosity, how often would you have to do this ? is it every few weeks ? once a month ? whenever you feel the gun is sort of sticky ? thank you so much for these videos, very informative !

    The problem is now, that I don't own a Cometa 400. ^^ I guess it has something to do with either the trigger mechanism or a part that catches into the trigger mechanism. I would take it apart again and carfully inspecting it. The rifle will simply not function anymore by just replacing the main spring.

    I haven't noticed a bit but I'm not a "good tuner" in all honesty. I used a bit too much grease. Clean your compression chamber and lube only the piston seal slighty, front and back end of the piston and a bit on the spring. That's enough.

  • @GhostofCTC

    enjoyed this, very good video. I wonder if you can help with my problem, after replacing the main spring in my Cometa 400 I replaced all the components as I have done numerous times in the past, but on trying to fire the rifle I have the problem that the rifle now will not cock. When the barrel is pulled back fully the main spring does not catch and lock into position. I wonder if this is a problem with the trigger mechanism? Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

    I really liked the detail in your vids but you kept saying just a little grease! I thought you were gonna drown it! LOLMaybe you know something I don't but JUST SAYIN! Still, it was a very good and detailed vid which is more than I can say for some of these vids being supported by air gun producers so Great job!

    No more dieseling and was smoother. But honestly I just did the video so other people can see how to disassemble a break barrel rifle especially the HW95/Beeman R9 and how to lube it. I did use a bit too much lube but still worked out fine.

    Because of gun laws. It has a weaker spring in it. For Germany it's just 5.5ft/lbs in energy for air rifles that can be legally owned without a freaking weapon license. The four rods are not necessary.

  • @JohnBarrow1961
    @JohnBarrow196110 жыл бұрын

    Your videos are very well done and informative. One suggestion, try to speak a little louder in future videos, or increase the recording volume. Too bad German law restricts power for air guns. That seems a little draconian to me.

    Never use paper towels to wipe off and also to apply grease. Paper is made from wood! There are tiny wood fibers in all paper towels. Also the paper towel is not particle and lint free. Basically you messed up your new air rifle. Next time use a clean, lint free, non abrasive cloth.

  • @PeterDad60
    @PeterDad6012 жыл бұрын

    Well from a design engineer's point of view any paper is a no-no. What's so hard about using clean, lint free cloth? I mean after all the work you put yourself through with a brand new air rifle I just do not understand why you would use the wrong cleaning material. Well it's a free world after all, isin't it.
