    Very good video. I've just bought a second hand HW77k, around 1984 vintage, and will be stripping it to have the action reblued. Might as well replace a couple of parts, too. I'll also be using your greasing video to help me with that.

    Earlier today I stripped my HW 77 down and did TNT and clean up! Don't think it has ever been stripped down before? I got it second hand and I see where some previous owner had tried to tighten stock screws with standard screwdriver instead of a Gunsmith set of tools? Thank you! WOW! Semper Fi!

    Very few steps are different. The trigger housing must be rotated out of a little notch. Very easy to do if you take an allen key and poke out the four small blocks which are located on the left and right side of the trigger housing after that place cylinder on a small rubber object and rotate counter clockwise. The trigger housing should come right out.

    Thank you for the video... I used it to see how to disassemble and reassemble my HW77K... the orientation of the "anti-bear trap assembly" got me confused because the piece held by the spring got turned around after I removed it... so I had to re-watch your video... I saw another video where the gunsmith had already removed the anti-bear trap since it really serves no useful purpose, as long as you know to always hold the cocking lever or barrel when loading a pellet... apparently, when you remove it, you can now de-cock the rifle, which is nice to be able to do... I left mine on for now, but may end up removing it later.

    I noticed there’s no top hat in the mainspring, just a spring guide. Are all 77s this way? Just tuned two 99s’s, and they both had top hats🫣 Maybe its still in the piston. This is often the case…With a few washers too. Nice job🤗

  • @2lbsTrigrPull

    @2lbsTrigrPull

    Yes, some threads of the trigger housing can be rusted due to the blueing process. Get a hot air pistol with 500°C and heat up the end piece till you see smoke rising. Then grab a fitting spanner slide it into the trigger slot and give it a good hit with a hammer. That will loosen the threads.

  • @TomasHubalek

    @TomasHubalek

    10 жыл бұрын

    2lbsTrigrPull Thanks a lot for your quick reply. Smoke rising? Uh. I'm afraid I'll damage parts made of plastic that are quite close to the thread. I found some people suggesting to soak it in diesel or some oil. What do you think about such a advice?

  • @2lbsTrigrPull

    @2lbsTrigrPull

    10 жыл бұрын

    Tomáš Hubálek Will not work. The end piece can be very stubborn to remove. Clamp the cylinder in a vice so it can't rotate (with the cocking arm rested onto one clamp of the vice but cushion it so it doesn't scratch up) heat up the end piece with the a torch or hot air pistol and then go to work with a spanner and hammer. I already opened several HWs with this method and if you are careful the nylon spring guide will not get damaged. But try it with soaking oil first and see what happens. Maybe it will work.

    I just thought id like to add, when putting the rifle back together, when you screw on the end piece where the trigger unit goes make sure it is lined up perfectly before screwing in the trigger guard / stock screw. mine was misaligned by about 1mm but i screwed in said bolt thinking it would just tighten and line everything in, but no. instead i cross threaded virtually all the threads and f**ked my bolt. just so you know =)

    I realize this is an old post, but I just installed a Maccari Air Rifle Headquarters kit in my HW77K today... to get the end cap completely tight, I used the handle from a crescent wrench that I put in a vise (covered with a rag to protect the end cap slot), inserted it in the end cap slot and forced the end cap completely closed, which also aligns the scope grooves as well as the stock lug screw.
