    That won't get any more accurate left shot as is. Just listen to the gun (3:00 - seems like it got louder) it should not be making that much noise it sounds very dry just by swinging the barrel up and down. New spring and lube should do the trick. And I'm willing to bet once the tune is done after it breaks in you can pull off a much tighter group shooting with just open sights alone. Good find MC I love the open sights on this 34! 👍🏻

    if the gun has a little barreldroop ,its not impossible that that explains the group ,a barrel perfect in line will be less swinging and better lockt and its more accurat with a scope,if barreldroop is there correct it with a ittlle removing of the hitting spots from the barrelblock till its correct . no barrel seal in the barrel at that time , mount the gun in a vice .waterlevel on the cilinder tube and on the barrel you see it

    I've always been looking at and wondering if I should buy, a Diana 34, maybe when the the 'shooting supplies piggy bank' is replenished, I should go shopping for one. In the meantime Kevin, my local Gunsmith has recently picked up a large collect of rifles from an Estate, and among them is an HW35 Weihrauch. which has a broken stock and some other blemishes of poor handling and old age showing. He figures he can restore this to 'good as nearly new' and has offered me first refusal, if I'm interested. So now I have another one to consider. I will be test shooting this one, and check it out as you do with a Chronograph and target shooting session, so we can see what's what. I am interested even now. We will see later.

    Hi, we've spoken before reference your oddly long barrelled Tracker There are two fundamental engineering faults with the 34 platform, one is the wedge breech, you really have to press those pellets in, make sure there is no lip at the bottom or it will clip it when closing. The most egregious however, is the transfer port, you will note that it emerges behind the breech. Now, take a peek inside, and you will see it is central in the tube. The thinking behind collecting the air centrally is that it is most efficient, and that is entirely correct, until you make a ridiculous dog leg drilling with two angled corners between that point and the pellet. Filling the transfer port with your favoured metal epoxy and then drilling it through from the breech end will give you about 50fps (allowing a lighter spring/piston if you wish as an option, without any power loss) It's a really silly idea that they have stuck with for about 60 years now. The 34 is a widely copied platform, all those Chinese Remingtons etc etc etc are using it...but they have all eschewed this, necessarily(in the case of having TP chicanery), long compression tube plug and drilled through direct, and all of them make better power (the barrels vary unfortunately on most clones.. might get a tack driver, then the next throws a pattern like a coach gun) but the powerplant efficiency of having a straight transfer port and the longer stroke having a more conventional breech plug size is very obvious. So, if you ever want to tune that 34, that's the place that profound efficiency gains are made Dom

    Agreed. I will always admire a gun that relies upon metal ( preferably steel) and wood. I don't dislike synthetics, and I understand that there are advantages, but for me, wood will always be the only choice as long as there is one. There's no denying the quality of some other great piston gun manufacturers who employ plastic sparingly and safely. I won't let a little plastic stop me from being interested in a gun, but a gun with no plastic will almost always sell me on it.

    I watched your videos on the Diana 34 .177 rifle the other day and that prompted me to pull my 34 out of the closet and give it a quick once over... plans are to start plinking with it. One question I have is regarding a small flat head screw on the scope rails towards the rear of the compression tube... it has a very short screw thread and on my RWS 300 scope mount I noticed this screw prevented seating the scope mount entirely over the scope rails. One post online said this screw can shear off by the force of the recoil and it should be removed when mounting the scope... it also prevents using the scope locking screws since it pushes the scope mount out of the locking screw hole alignment. When I gave my rifle a quick clean I noticed my locking screws had backed themselves up to the scope tube. I removed the flat head screw blocking the scope mount and aligned the scope locking screws and tightened everything down. My question is... what was the flat headed screw's purpose?

  • @razor1962

    @razor1962

    Ай бұрын

    While I've never had occasion to remove that screw, my guess is that it's there to help anchor the scope rail. You are correct not to mount your scope with the mount touching the screw. It can indeed sheer off if your mount is slipping. I mount my rear ring just forward of that screw. Close, but not quite touching. That way, it's easy to determine if your scope mount is slipping. If you're unable to achieve the proper eye relief, consider an offset ring. Thanks for watching.
