Definitely need a 1:5 twist barrel for the shorter barrels, it would tighten up those groups. I’d reach out to Faxon and replace the 7.5” barrel barrel for their 1:5

10.5 is the sweet spot for 300BO imo. Alot of people say 8-9 inches, but I think with 10.5 you get better super sonic performance and still keeping subs slow enough.

The 10.5 also gives a nice bit of rail space too.

Your 10inch barrel was bouncing a lot. Way more than seems like it should. Looking at the groups it made and the vertical stringing you had going on, You might want to check your barrel nut and make sure it's torqued down to spec. I shoot 1x7 AAC "Old School" barrels and they work just fine. Accuracy is fantastic with mine but I'm running suppressed.

For any 300blk shorter than 8” you really need a 1/5 barrel. Ideally for any subs 1/5 is better

PSA 7.5 looks to be ejecting at 5 o'clock - are you using the buffer spring it shipped with?

Matt, have you had a chance to try the Hornady Sub-X subsonic 255gr hunting loads? They don't cycle any of my autoloaders but seem quite nice out of a bolt gun.

Not sure. Maybe barrel friction? Or there’s and issue with the barrel?

If a person is going to only use a 300 blackout for both high velocity and suppressed loads I guess its a decent cartridge. However, a 7.62 X 39mm will accomplish this same role (You must use different mags and bolt than 5.56) with higher velocity on the high velocity side and do just as well but with less ammo choices on the suppressed side. A PCC in 45 ACP or 10mm with heavy bullets can also accomplish the suppressed role very well . As time goes by and AR platforms in PCC and rifle configuration continue to drop in price, the 300 blackout just seems less relevant than it once was.

Why bother with weak bolts and janky mags with 7.62x39 when you can just run 300BLK? The cost of ammo isn’t a factor anymore, and 300BLK is infinitely more reliable in an AR.

Blackout is more relevant than ever with 7.62x39 not being cheap anymore. 7.62x39 AR mags and bolts have gotten better, but these days an AK in 300 BLK makes more sense than an AR in 7.62x39. As for PCCs, they have disadvantages with magazine size and capacity, and unless they have some proprietary delayed blowback system, gun weight and recoil.

@@timewave02012 In my area 7.62X39 & 300 Blackout are the same price. When shooting high velocity ammo the 7.62X39 is a better performer. A large perventage of the pistol caliber carbines take Glock mags which are readily available and some of the best mags ever made. They can be had in 45 up to at least 26 rounds and in 10mm in 30 round mags or even a 50 round drum. Both claibers also have smaller capacities available. I'm not sure where the heavy weight PCC's are. They are normaly nealry identical to any other AR platform rifle equally configured. The buffer is a few ounces heavier and the bolt an ounce or 2 more but going with a lighter profile barrel or lighter handguard can make of that difference. The 45 ACP in a PCC produces nearly identical recoil to the heavier (68gr) 5.56 when fired in the same weigt gun. Give them a try. Many ranges offer them for rent. I've got AR's in 7.62X39, 5.56, 9mm, and a good friend who let me shoot his 6.5 Grendel (my favorite AR caliber) quite often. I've shot the PCC's in 40, 10mm & 45ACP and enjoy them all.
