My son was an excellent chess player at 3. He was also fluent in three languages and could read and write. He grew up to be normal, intelligent but not Uber nerdy. We moved to Australia when he was 7 and he lost the ability to speak German and Dutch. He lost interest in chess and would likely fail to reach a 1000 rating. Kids are amazing in their first years. Like sponges for learning whatever they set their attention to. Some parents push their kids to excel, but I think it’s better if they do things only as long as they enjoy doing them.

I don't think I knew my damn ABC's at 3. I might have still been shitting myself, probably. Not only that, but I have no idea how a 3-year-old can have the fundamentals' of chess down where you aren't just moving pieces, but have actual logic behind the moves.
This is hilarious. I play chess with my three year old. He saw me playing with my older children and now he's the only one who'll play me. He keeps insisting and it's kind of annoying but cute. He always plays white and his first move is usually h3. Then he asks me how he can take my pieces. Sometimes he gets moves right, and I'm thrilled when he does. It's so funny to see a boy his age dressed up like someone who's born in the 50s and actually understand the game.

I remember watching this game. I couldn't believe what I was watching. Seemed impossible....After he started crying, it made me feel good, but only because I knew. The sky is the limit for this kid.
As for the chess puzzles, he studied them before. Still pretty impressive though (also the game against Karpov of course).
The edit of the video was much better with the match being a battle where the loser will be killed
I find it cool how kids this young learn to view chess as a puzzle more than a game, which I think helps them learn to play more attentively
That second puzzle, sacrificing the rook and knight, I never would have seen it 😭
ive been pausing at each puzzle and couldnt figure out that last puzzle. damn XD
I like how he refers to the kid as a “tiny tiny human”
Thank you levy, for getting me back into chess! You helped me get from 400 rating to 850. Keep up the good work
Karpov: Let's call it a draw The kid: Go to hell, Kasparov
The kid is undoubtedly exceptional! The first puzzle was actually fairly simple, and I saw the solution at the first glance. The second puzzle was more challenging and quite interesting, but it was still solvable, as there was nothing else to do if the back-rank mate was to be avoided. But the third puzzle-oh, my God! I failed to recognize the solution to that problem because, contrary to conventional wisdom that having only a king + a knight or a bishop is not enough to mate the opponent's king, I had not even considered the idea that one of the two figures should have to be sacrificed.
@36AccountsBlockedRIP
Жыл бұрын
This is Russian TV so I'd be skeptical. The kid must have seen something similar to the third puzzle before and had an idea what to do. It's pretty incredulous for a three-year-old to solve that one out of the blue in front of an audience with limited time, especially considering that this kid is now about 10 and 1173 rated. If he had done that third puzzle out of the blue at that age, surely he'd be 2000 by now without even trying hard.

You are my favorite person on YT, love the content, keep it up!
Kid: This'll be easy Anatoli Karpov's honest reaction:
I'm really impressed as to the extent that you go just to make sure we have content every day, incredible!!!
17:27 I’m still here friend 🥲
Now that he's 10, his rating has skyrocted all the way to 1100.
Imagine retiring at 3. "I have seen it all"
And then he sacrificed... HIS AGE!!!
4:42 made me really sad
As far as I've seen Karpov in various situations... Events, commenting, interviews etc, he is so gentle and courteous and I feel he has always been this nice. He is the perfect dude to have playing things like this. Also, the kid is ofc amazing. My 13 year old son would likely get his arse handed to him and he's not that bad. Most ppl isn't this good at chess, grown or otherwise.

karpov: beats 3 yo Levi: Karpov is a machine
I'm impressed by your Russian pronounciation, very clear, almost no accent. That's just one more thing I like about this channel, along with making chess actually fun (which my mom failed to do when I was 7 or so)

@@JTCF i've been thinking he might just speak russian for a while now. He always makes a great effort to pronounce things correctly, but the russian is on another level

6:15 You have this frase a lot: "you do this very very quickly" like what do you actually mean with quickly? like, as in the next move if there are no threats on you? or move it in a split second so you dazzle your opponent with quickness! or can it be like in the next 3 moves? like is that still quickly 🤨
There were many memes from his defeat and there were memes when they introduced that he will play against a grandmaster
Misha continues playing actually.
5:27 Karpov asked him what opening it was and the child knew. So I doubt that's the case.
