What I meant to say is that you’ll only know you made a good move or didn’t fucked up only after your turn is over. If you are referring to a bar that can show you the outcome of different moves available before committing only then it’ll be useful. But that definitely is cheating. I don’t know why people comment before thinking, it’s only there because it doesn’t help. If it were to help it’d be considered external help, hence cheating. @@hthought Highly doubt it. Normally with only times odds you score on avg. much below, but with piece up and time odds it's not the case anymore. She should be crushing him in most games. 400 elo is also way less difference than you think. It's large gap, but you can overtake it, while here we are talking about massive odds. It's mostly about attitude because just as Judith Polgar said chess is about 40% psychology.

    First game , both sides miss black could play ...f5-f4 , tactically works as if white ‘wins” the pawn , it loses after g3xf4 g5xf4 , Bxf4 Rxf4 , Qxf4 and ...Be5 pins and wins the queen . So white would have to try after ...f5-f4 , Bd2 g6-g5 and black has a crushing space advantage as well as already being the odds knight up .

    @EricRosen Please explain the position at 3:44:04 In this position if black just takes the pawn on c2, you may end up with Bxf7+, Kxf7, then queen takes queen, that's true, but the pawn will take the knight on b2=Q and the queen is reborn. You will probably take black's light-square Bishop then, and black just goes Queen (the re-born one) to e4 and defends the b7 pawn and you will probably be in trouble. I believe the trap works in normal positions but in this specific one, as you've got no rook on a1, you will end up with a losing position. Am I missing something?

  • @watchableraven3517

    @watchableraven3517

    It's true the trap doesn't work exactly the same, as the queen is reborn. It does still win a pawn and pins the opponents b8 knight so I think it would be favourable.

    1:24:38 I don't understand why Anna played that move. She could have at least taken the rook. It put your knight one turn further from her king's current position, but I doubt that is worth letting you keep your rook. What do you think her idea was? Just a blunder? Or an actual strategy that I'm unable to see? I rewatched this match to see how you caught back up from so far behind, and so I'm very curious why Anna did that.

    At 33:10 could you anyone tell me why F5 was such a game changer? Couldn't white still play Bf6 or Bh6 and carry on with the plan Eric was explaining previously? I can't see the vital difference F5 makes by black that prevents that plan.

  • @maxkho00

    It frees up a defensive square for the rook so that Rf7 becomes a possibility. And if Qg3 then Qd7. If further castles followed by R1g2 and Rdg1 then simply Rc8 followed by Rc7. Sure, White exerts some pressure on the g7 pawn, but ultimately has little attacking potential. His only hope in the game becomes pushing the h-pawn, but I think that's just too slow, as it gives Black time to hide the king on f8 and eventually transfer him over to the centre of the board (to a square like d7), for example, where he will be hugged by a swarm of friendly pieces. Granted, Bf6 would still probably have been White's best try because it was the only attempt at formulating some sort of attack by White, and because of the threat of what was actually played in the game, but it was still far too easy to defend against. Eric likely wanted to be tricky and come up with a continuation in which Anna was more likely to blunder. EDIT: Just checked with the engine. Bf6 and bh6 are indeed White's only options besides castling queenside.

    F5 is strong because it prevents white from winning material while shutting down the attack So erics idea of f6 bxf6 rxf6 qxf6 the material and position is even maybe even slightly better for white. now a more realistic line would be f6 bxf6 rf7 where white would have 2 pawns for a knight blacks still better (engine gives 1.7) but attacking opportunities. Now that same idea after f5 doesn't really do anything F5 bf6 rf7 qh6 qd7 white has no attack blacks up a knight the center will be opening (engine gives black 4.7)
