I have to disagree with something you said-- that if it burns, it's just not for you. I've used this about once a week for around 2 years. And it's helped me with my acne scars and acne in ways I never thought would be possible at home and for less than 10 dollars a bottle. However, it burns -- every single time I use it. It burns pretty bad for the first 2 minutes too. But my skin is never red or irritated after. So like everyone always says, everyone's skin is different. It has always given me a stinging effect, but this stuff and tretinoin (alternating them, of course) has worked magic on my acne prone skin.

@@fatimabukhari1177 it should help with acne scars, it may take a while to really see a difference, but one thing I didnt think of when going on a skincare journey is you probably won't see results straight away and the results will be slow, if you wanna make sure it's working, take a before photo so you can remind yourself what it was like before, sometimes slow results make you think its not working because you see your skin everyday but when you look back you see the progress

My skin minorly burns when i use this for the first couple minutes. My skin isnt sensitive and it doesnt turn red after using the peel, and the peel works well for my skin. I think cass just is talking more about people who might have microderm abrasions and their skin burns A LOT when using this or she might be talking about people who are genuinely allergic to one of the ingredients.

On my skin it's not really a burning sensation, its more of like a heating up itchy tickling feeling.

I went into my (27 yr old) daughter's bedroom with this on and told her that I decided to try "shaving" my face because I saw it on KZread. I never heard her say," oh my God"! so much in my life! Nor did I know she could curse like a truck driver until I started laughing and told her the truth.

As a Canadian, no I can't get it here. I bought it once (maybe twice?) about a year ago off of Amazon, but it was marked up 4x the price. I absolutely loved it but haven't gotten it again because after it went viral the price went up even more and I also fear the products could be counterfeit so I live without it but have been using the Paula's Choice 25% AHA + 2% BHA and although it doesn't look bloody, it's purple-y and pearly and still makes me feel pretty :) Thanks for yet another fantastic video Queen!!

This product is amazing. I had a "blind" pimple that was quite large yesterday. I used this mask and today the bump feels half the size it did. I'm new to The Ordinary but am super excited about trying all of their products. I've used three so far. Anyone can afford their products. I was spending 3X more on a product from Paris that never showed results so quickly. I'm a 52 year old man trying to reverse sun damage from living in Florida most of my life as well as using tanning beds.

I'm a fan of chemical peels and know it helps with scarring. It's great you have a home solution giving you the results you want.

A guys perspective ... I've been using this product for a few months once weekly and it always stings on application but subsides after about 2 minutes. Afterwards my skin feels like a baby's butt with no irritation.

I also experience the stings but only for like the first 2 minutes and i only feel it on my beard area because i shave my beard daily something that has help is the day i plan on using the peel i use it first and then i will shave and it wont sting really so thats something that helped me with the sting to just use it before shaving

You should've mentioned how it literally cleans out your pores!! I've been having facials and using AHA & BHA products but they did nothing compared to this as far as cleaning out my pores..love it!!

The no stinging part is great to hear. I got this product for the first time yesterday and did a patch test on my wrist and I felt absolutely nothing. Now I believe it may actually be normal and I may still see results even without any sort of sensation while using it.

For me it tingles. Its enjoyable, not itchy. Like little pinches or gentle prickles. I love the way my skin looks when i wash it off. Adding this and the rentinoid emulsion have made big differences in my skin. Im 2 months into the new products i chose after watching your videos and im loving what im seeing 😊 thank you Cassie!

Yeah, the first time I used this, it let me know *immediately* where I had tiny little cracks in the skin around my nose. CONS: Ow! PROS: Now I moisturize my nose more, and my nose looks so much better!

When I first started getting into skincare beginning of last year I was so excited to try this since so many people have had good results with this. Alas my skin was not used to using an exfoliator this potent. It stung and left my skin red around the parts of my combo skin that are usually more dry. Since I used it in the evening, by morning the redness was gone. I stopped using it but it was great for my rougher skin around my feet, so theres that.

When my skin is doing good this product doesn't does anything but when my skin doesn't behave itself then I see a difference with this product

Absolutely loved this video; I think one brand that at one point EVERY celeb was pushing was Nurse Jamie. I have tried her tools and while they are nothing miraculous, they are pretty good but not really worth the high price. I have been tempted to try her “stem cell” cream but it’s just waaaaay to much for what you’re actually getting.

Can't wait to try this product now! As soon as I'm recovered from surgery, I'm definitely planning to head to Ulta to pick this up (and I'm sure I'll find a few other things, haha)! Also, I think a video about the counterfit/ knockoff versionsand their differences from the real product is a great idea that I would be very interested in!

This product worked wonders for my skin,it took awhile but I don't get break outs like I did before and my skin tone is even,I love it!!! One bottle of this last me like 6-7 months

Cass!! I am an absolute fan of your honesty, I´ve been trying to get one, but since I don't live in the US, here we only get counterfeits, and guess what the real deal is expensive! As someone who has also dealt with acne and has developed a major tolerance to tretinoin and glycolic acid, this peel was definitely strong but renewing

Whenever i use this, i always just wipe my face with a damp washcloth first that way my skin isn't dry after. It doesn't make a huge difference most of the time, but it's still a bit nicer for me. I also like to follow it up with a really gentle toner on a cotton pad just to make sure the mask is completely washed off

Great episode as always. Can you please please please please do some episodes on body skincare. I can think of at least five issues re body skincare and, since I only use cruelty free products, you are the only one I trust. Thinking: do I need to exfoliate my legs/arms, what are the best hydrating lotions, FEET people, how to treat feet, do we need retinol on the body, cellulite- need I say more. So much to learn.

The first time I used this my skin burned because I didn't have a proper skincare routine nor a moisture barrier. Now I can use it randomly without anything more than some tingling. I use it like once a month for about 8 minutes. I make sure my skin is moisturized so it isn't so dry

Just started to use this, i researched and studied this and i was using something else instead because i wanted to get rid of acne and scarring and rid some deep marks on my face. My skin adapts very very quickly to products and even ends up being immune to most commercial washes and creams. Using this once every other week or once a week may actually be a great idea for me because of stubborn acne

I just tried it for the first time today, and my skin automatically was a different texture; softer once I took it off. I can't wait to see how this affects my face

I’ve been using this for keratosis pilaris and kp scars on my arms and legs. It does make my skin nice and soft, but not much else, yet. I’m hoping to see more of an improvement. It doesn’t even tingle. My skin is so very thick from the kp. I’m considering leaving it on slightly longer (cautiously) to make more of an impact.

I just bought this a couple days ago, and I was just about to try it for the first time. I am SO GLAD I came here and watched this video first! I didn’t know about the skin neutralizer. I was already nervous about what to do if I were to have a bad reaction. I will now, most definitely be ordering the neutralizer before trying this.

I live in Norway and The Ordinary is fortunatly something we can get a hold of here in Europe. A lot other brands dont sell or ship here. And the peeling solution is a staple of mine. We dont have the same possibilities to go to dermatologists that you have, since we have to have a skin condition to be able to get a referal from a doctor to go to one, so luckily we have You Tube and channels like yours to learn from.

I’m so glad the Ordinary is in large Boots stores for the UK now, waiting for long shipping or risking an Amazon counterfeit is annoying.

The first time I used this product I started to peel for days because I left it on for too long the first time and didn't do a patch test. after I finished I waited about 2 months before trying it again and it didn't sting and I used it for about 5 mins instead of 10 and it worked wonders I now have used it so many times and my skin loves it.

I live for this product, it was the first & only chemical exfoliator/peel I’ve ever used on my face. Only ever did 5-6mins max for the first few weeks once a week, from there I built it up to 10mins over time, but OMG. Even those 5mins were enough for results. It was slightly tingly/itchy the fist couple times, & I peel something fierce after a day or so, but come day 4-5 my skin always looks & feels amazing.

I've been using this for 3 months and it does sting for the first 2 minutes. And there has been no adverse reaction on my skin. I also left this on for an hour to see what happens...nothing happens. It just stops penetrating the skin after 10 minutes. I didn't peel extra skin over the next few days, nor did it burn or damage my skin. I love this product! My hyperpigmentation is starting to fade.. I use it 2x per week and a retinol 2x per week with sunscreen; the other 3 days I was my face with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.

I learned a lot, I just need to get the neutralizing solution and the wash, and Vaseline but I can't wait to try it! Thanks 😊

I used this for the first time today, goodness it made my face prickly and itchy, not too much burning but a little. I do have super sensitive skin so I'm not surprised. I want it to work though and have seen good reviews so I do want to keep using it, maybe I'll build some tolerance.

I agree with some of the comments on here!! My sting is SUPS sensitive and it stings sometimes only on my chin. But I use it once a week every week and it has changed my skin for the BETTER! It’s honestly changed my entire skincare routine. Ps. SUNSCREEN IS A MUST AFTER THIS! Sunscreen is a must regardless but especially after this product!

I used this for the first time about a week ago without gloves. It burned my face like hell that night. I rinsed in cold water for like 10 minutes. Afterwards, my face wasn't red or irritated at all. I just used it again, it burnt a little the entire time. I agree that we probably need to build a tolerance. Luckily once was enough for me to build that tolerance. 😅 My fingers peeled so bad after the first use, so I will always use gloves from now on!

Can you do a video of when to know if the pimple is on the right track to recovery or when its gotten worse? Please!! Love u Cassandra!

I've seen the best results with this product when i moisturized a couple hours before doing the peel and right before it cleansing with a very gentle cleanser. Then I usually apply a richer moisturizer and my skin felt amazing the moring after with this method i used it like 2-3 times a week with no irritation. PSA at first i used it once a week to build tolerance.

What moisturizer do you use?

I fell a little bit of stinging but I usually use too little substance for the entire face and I leave it for 7 minutes. It is indeed very good for my skin but because I have sensitive skin I must be more careful than others when using it.

How do you know it was this product instead of the retinol?

yes Im in Ontario, Canada and we carry The Ordinary, however, some products you can only purchase at bigger beauty retailers online and not in store like Sephora :) Sephora carries a limited selection in-store.

I’ve been using it for 2yrs now and still love it! Although, my skin only tolerates it no longer than 5 minutes. If I go any longer, the next day my skin looks like I got a sun burn. I use it twice a week ☺️

That's good to know. I just got some today, and I'll shorten the treatment time until I see how I react. And I'll also do a patch test on my inner arm to be safe. I REALLY don't want a bad reaction on my face. Better safe than sorry!😁👍🏻

Does skin become too sensitive to the Sun? What happens when you stop using it?

I love this. I found another one that you leave on for like 10 seconds and rinse immediately after. Yeah. THAT kicks this one’s arse. I can say it is really strong and not everyone can use this. I can tolerate a lot but this stuff is the real thing.

I find that some products sting the first time I use them, but when I use them a second time my skin is fine with it.

I was afraid at first but i did a patch test on my wrist and behind my ear 24 hours before putting it on my face. I love it.

Hey sorry if this is a dumb question but how did you patch test, did you use it like normal but just on your wrist? Or is there a specific way to patch test?

@@emilyc.8515 you can patch test behind your ears And in between your elbows. I did both and after that you rinse it off after 10 minutes and see if that part of your skin has a bad reaction. If it’s BURNING then rinse it off immediately. If you think your skin is resilient enough but your still not sure put some on your nose and see if it’s alright for your skin. @@emilyc.8515 Just like normal use. Leave on 10 mins and wash off. My mom had a burning red reaction but i didn't. The area behind the earlobe is very sensitive so if you are going to have a negative reaction you will notice it there.

I got a sample for Dr. Dennis Gross peel pads a while back & absolutely LOVED it. I went to buy it, and almost cried when I seen the $100 price tag for 30 treatments. I researched and this Ordinary brand stuff was the closest thing I could find to Dr. Dennis Gross peel pads. The effects were not immediate like the other, but my skin has improved *drastically* after 2 uses. I had awful acne for years in adulthood and Clinique acne solutions eradicated my acne. My scars remain, but I'm so excited to have found something *affordable* that is treating my scars & large pores on my nose!!

I have super oily skin and it is also very VERY resilient, which I personally love the AHA + BHA peel! After I use the hyaluronic acid and the niacin-amide :) it works really well and I only add the niacin-amide on my t-zone. After all that I put on sun screen!!! Just a small routine because I had trouble finding what a good order of the products😂

I have oily skin too. Is it good product? How long should i keep it on my face.. 10mins for twice a week?

my skin tolerates basically anything and everything and when I used this chemical peel my face was itching and kind of burning around my nose. I left it on for a little over 5 minutes because this was my first experience with BHAs or AHAs (which isn't recommended) I'm going to use it once a week for the next months and I'm very excited to see results. I hope to see smaller pores...

I have the same experience!

I truly thought it wasn't doing anything when I put it on the first time. I thought it was old or something. After I washed it off, my skin looked magnificent. Since using it, my tone is more balanced and I am able to find foundation shades better, but I don't wear them anymore since I've used this peel.

I live in Australia and here that product is prohibited sale, however, I bought it on the website Beauty Bay and arrived at my house perfectly, but just burned when I put one time wrong on the acne and the other time happen nothing. I will continue trying. Thanks

my only issue w this is that I like to be super precise with application so it takes me a while to apply! It takes me like a solid 5 mins to apply fully but I do it to the areas I need it most first so that kinda helps!

I loved this product so much and used to help with my breakouts. But I was getting really dry eyes and couldn’t figure out why. I stopped using the mask for a couple of months then tried it again and it made my eyes so puffy and red I knew it was the mask 😭 even through Vaseline my eyes were having none of it so I had to stop. Awesome product though!

i used this last night on my newly shaved face & neck & it definitely stung for a minute but after that it stopped & i was able keep it on for 10 mins w/ out any problems

I know your skin is your skin is your skin but sometimes it feels like the skin on my face is like a really fickle orchid that needs to only be given bottled spring water in a glass spray bottle once a week whilst the rest of the skin on my body is like a weed that could grow in between two slabs of concrete in the middle of New York

It's really difficult to get an original bottle of the ordinary here in Brazil and the originals are kind of expensive. But it's not impossible, i got the aha peeling and my skin really loves It!

So glad I found your videos.....so informative and helpful. My son just bought this for me (he uses and raves about the product) - is this appropriate for skin over 50?

I think this very much depends on type of your skin. I have very oily skin and I can leave this solution on my face while I'm watching movie. But for some people this can be irritating even after 2 minutes. But definitely it's not that scary as it looks like. Just be cautious and careful.

what a great review! Thank you for this video. I too had really bad skin all of my teens into my 30s. I now have acne pitted skin. Do you think this would help my skin? Over the year I tried other expensive peels, my favorite was the Dr. Schrameck Green Peel because it really peeled layers of skin off and it made my skin look so smooth and glowing but it was 450.00 dollars. I'm now in my forties and the pitting of the skin seems to be showing more and I'd like something to minimize their appearance.

i'm so happy that you posted this! I loved using Bodyshops skin peels.. but I'm wondering if there is something better with less plastic in the packaging? Can you make any recommendations?

Good molecules. I order them from Ulta website. I believe their packaging is 100% recyclable, but I’d have to look it up again because I haven’t finished a full bottle yet. They’re also cruelty free and most of their products are vegan. They are about the same price as The Ordinary too.
