There aren't many consistent tells that someone is lying, because everyone has a tell that is particular to them. Ever played poker? If it was as simple as knowing someone looking away was lying and everyone that looked you in the face was telling the truth, I could be making millions in Vegas. People are far more complicated than you give them credit for.

I always find it amusing when someone defends their actions by saying they knew what the other was going to do. Even if that's true, they're still showing their nasty side by making sure they both get nothing. The moment anyone chooses to steal, they're saying to the other person "I'm going to make sure you get nothing". You might as well choose the split ball, as you'll come out of it looking like the better person, regardless of what happens......and maybe guilt will get the better of the other person and someday, somehow you'll get something from them.

I think justice is more important to survive than leaving others an advantage because, in the real world, generally speaking, a big advantage over someone else could mean power and influence over resources for that person and for oneself a bigger disadvantage after all than going empty. I think this subconscious thinking is ingrained in our brains. However, from a moral and practical perspective, the "share" option can also be better despite losing money (think of collusion to share the money after the show if there is only one winner), even though from a naive rational perspective, the expected personal outcome is higher when stealing. People like me would rather think, there is nothing to lose over resources or power by giving all money to the other person. The other person got to decide my prize anyways, so if you have "rational" people opposed to you, it's not possible to win money no matter what one would choose; therefore the own choice depends on which outcome one likes better (all or no money to the other person). It's rather a moral situation than a game-theoretic game and uncovering or testing the morals of people is the most interesting thing of the show, at least for me. And as another argument for "sharing", there are people, me included, who think that leading a good valuable life is a value on its own with a better impact on life in general, more important than getting a lot of additional money. My personality tends to have a need for cooperation when feeling "dangerous" situations and when I don't know the others, I learned to improve results that way, although I would actually feel in that TV situation. Of course, it depends on the damage rather than the reward because rather than maximizing profit, I try to reduce damage. If the other person would use the money for bad or evil things it makes sense to opt for "steal" nevertheless.

Assuming they're not funding a terrorist organization, you're judging what they will do with the money, drugs maybe? You never know what someone else has gone through in their life, so you can easily get the wrong impression about them, it doesn't pay to judge others until you know their full story.

Btw, I don't worry about terrorism or mafia, I think, it's very unlikely. In practice, I only worry about lawful crimes such as investments being made into criminal industries, businesses or states, products endangering our future, or the funding of autocratic organizations or people anywhere on the globe which could lead to more unhealthy power relations and excess inequality.

You can read people's motivations. Doctor Who Memories naw she was stealing from the start. Right Before they opened their ball, she could have gave the “ I couldn’t trust you” speech. Or she could have addressed it from the moment they were talking If she knew he was picking steal. Nothing is lost by calling them out. The thing is She thought she had him beat. She was always gonna steal

She was stupid, yes. But if someone says “I will split this” then most of the time it means that they will. Look at other splits and steals. If you go by that simple rule of if they say “I will split this” then you’ll know the outcome.

Before that lady opens the ball, she already knew what the man was going to pick. Her mouth was already waiting for that smile. The smile that says "I knew he was going to steal". Nobody picks steal and be happy about it.

Do you not get the game? He stole it because he wanted it all himself, whereas she stole because she knew he would, and didn't want him to walk away with it all. Totally different reasons.

Rosie Carlisle boy knew she was trying to convince him to go split. He want stupid and chose steal. The woman tried to trick us all then in trying to roll the ball to him to let us believe he is the greedy one. From the moment she spoke to convince, it was game over for her

A way to win this is saying "take split because I'm going steal, I will give you half after this but if you don't trust me go steal and we both go away with nothing"

Love it when It goes this way steal steal or split split, proves of how much they deserve

I would be like "yo i'll pick split, you pick steal. Then after the show, write me a cheque for half of it"

Neil, even if that was the case, she doesnt get nothing from picking steal so she is also act base on greed.

it makes sense to pick steal. if you pick steal, either the other person loses or you both lose. if they pick split, you can split the money with them after.

I miss this game bring it back!

It shows 100% that he was going to pick steal, the lady is very smart to read that ‘facial expressions’ and she picked steal, I would do the same because the other side won’t share, not gonna let him win.

I've seen a lot of theories on this game, and here is mine: (I accept that this will not happen 100% of the time, but I think it more likely to be true than not) We have a tendency to trust people that we perceive to be attractive (more attractive than us). We're less inclined to trust people that we do not find attractive. I think this is why many youtube comments (usually from men) seem to believe that young "hot" women are more likely to steal. The reason why this may appear to be the case is that very often they are paired with older men or women who they perceive are less attractive. If you were to put them with attractive young males, I suspect you'd see a very different outcome. It's worth thinking about how attractiveness(male or female) impacts people's daily lives. If you are attractive people are more likely to trust you and give you the benefit of the doubt. This is a prime example. However, if you go through these scenarios you'll find on average that perceived attractiveness plays a big role in whether or not someone is likely to split or steal. Keep in mind, that it is as much about a person's perceived sense of attractiveness as it is objective... attractiveness.
