As soon as one person chooses steal, that opens the opportunity of money being lost. They're trying to trick you into being greedy so that the show can keep the money. Your safe bet is choosing split and hoping either the other person does the same or splits the cash with you after the show. Choosing steal will either rob you both or make you look like a pompous ass AND rob you both.

@@beef3442 It's just the prisoner's dilemma rebranded as a game show BUT you don't both lose more if you both split which breaks the dilemma of the optimal choice. In a population of splitters, stealing wins a lot, splitting wins less. In a population of stealers, you can't win so it's irrelevant what you choose. In an unknown population it is therefore always beneficial to steal. You're right that if everyone shared that logic it would stop working but if everyone shared the inverse logic, stealing would become the best play again therefore turning splitters into stealers and so on.

I don't get why they're reasoning always is "I didn't want to walk away with nothing". This is cuz the only way that she WOULD walk away with nothing is if the other one stole. And if the other one stole, her stealing would only ENSURE that no one gets any money.

Heres how you do it: (the fair way) You tell the person you will split no matter what You then ask the person which one they will choose You say the other shall take the opposite one, and if they don't you steal That way, if the person wanted to steal you both walk away with nothing or if the person does what you say you both split. And if the person from the beginning wanted to split they get their deserved prize money

If you split you have 100% probabilty for the money to flow. 50% of having half in your favor, 50% of loosing. If you steal you'll make 50% probaility for all the money either go your way or not. Regardless the desicion, you have the option to share an experience of enjoyment, share values and allowing to change someones life.

  • @zapikachu

They need a Third Ball. The third Ball shoulld be like "Counter-Steal". If one picks Steal and the other picks coutner steal, then you take the greedy person's money. If you pick Counter-Steal when the other one picked Split, then the person who split takes all the money (Or it can be Forcefully split Envenly or unevenly or which ever). This way it's more of a mind game and an honest person doesn't get punished.

Catch, yea heard this before, they could probably remake the show with this steal steal = nothing split split = 50% each catch catch = nothing catch steal = catch 100% split steal = steal 100% catch split = split 100% think about it... it would be more beneficial to choose split. perhaps only split and steal is what made the show possible to keep going, as 2 greedy means the show pays nothing. etc. reactions interesting too. however, that one guy who said he was gonna steal and split after the show kind of broke the show. i dont know, it's complicated
