2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Facelift Part 1 - IFS Comparison (Intelligent Front-lighting System)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A quick video of IONIQ 5 PE (Product Enhancement) model aka facelift - although I shouldn't be calling it a facelift - while I edit the 1,300 km endurance test drive on the car and other videos on the IONIQ 5 PE, hence Part 1.
Enjoy this night POV where I did the back-to-back comparison on the same course at the same speed!
Curious about what that IFS (Intelligent Front-lighting System is all about?
Find out in this video! It was only IONIQ 6 and Tucson Facelift that got the IFS up until now, even the all-new Santa Fe didn't get this tech!

    Glad to see you're starting to put out your videos. I've been using Google Translate to try and watch some of your fellow Korean KZreadrs to get a sense of what the PE is like. Unfortunatley due to our outdated regulations related to headlights here in the US, we likely won't be getting the lights with IFS.

    @@CarSceneKorea It's still not fully approved due to other older laws like max headlight output restrictions, but limited functionality is unlocked in the US now (mostly the On/Off Hi-beam). Other car brands like Porsche/Audi/VW who have LED matrix headlights can be configured to have them when you order here in the US, but the functionality is disabled unless you can get the dealership or car shop to enable the functionality.

    For much of the world, captions can be very helpful. This is also true for native English speakers, especially those from countries with different accents, and for those who are hard of hearing or deaf. I always use the captions.

    Thank you for your informative video. As always, very helpful. Are you also familiar with the issue of allegedly increased theft of Hyundai ioniq 5? This is supposed to work very easily with a key emulator aka "Gameboy": It is enough to go to any place of the car where there is a button without button access, touch or press. For example, the door handle. The device records the signal from the car and selects the correct key within 10 seconds to 2 minutes, completely duplicating the native one. The key can be stored in the device's memory. Open, close, start and drive away.

    I've heard about the news, hope Hyundai USA would promptly come up with a solution. It's nearly impossible to hear anyone getting their cars stolen here in Korea.

    Thank you for the video. I love the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and as an expert in adaptive lighting systems, I was particularly interested in how the IFS system was implemented. However, I must tell you that the vertical stripes are not a feature but rather a bug! The goal is to not see them and to create as homogeneous a light distribution as possible to avoid distracting the driver. It seems this wasn't very successfully achieved, although I am glad that the technology has finally made it into the Ioniq 5. From experience, I know it's difficult to capture the impression of homogeneity on cameras exactly as it appears to the human eye in reality. Maybe it's better in reality than in the video?

  • @CarSceneKorea

    @CarSceneKorea

    Thanks for the insight. Genesis did deliver the lights being homogeneous, there was no boundary that could be spotted. Since the first IONIQ 5 did not have IFS, squeezing that tech into the same hardware but extra could’ve been the cause perhaps?🤔

    Yw. I can only speculate here because I didn't develop this lighting system, but indeed, that could be the problem. Homogeneity and efficiency suffer the most from limited installation space.

    I have no idea what IFS is after watching this video. Is it an automatic on/off of the high beams?

  • @CarSceneKorea

    @CarSceneKorea

    2 ай бұрын

    It was just automatic high beam assist thus far, but IFS controls high beam far more delicately, allowing more visibility under same condition. You will feel the huge difference when you drive it during the night time.
