@@LNZT I thought so too at the start but I changed my mind. The tone quality itself is not great, but what sells it is that the way it interacts with the car is spot on. The gear shifts, downshifts, early upshifts, small explosions from the exhaust, etc. are absolutely masterful and totally sells it. They are time to perfection. Even the fact that the engine is a bit uneven in idle as a true high performance engine really helps to trick the brain.

Most of ppl here didn't understand. 1. The battery performance : This 4th gen battery is purely crazy thing. It has currently the most energy dense in the world. and the electrical resistance during charging and discharging is extremely low. That's why it can finish 2laps easily. 2. Regen and cooling mystery: The Hyundai N engineer told "we discovered" not invented. while regen, it cool down the battery temperature. still i don't understand. out of box. But I think this has something to do with the extremely low electrical resistance of the battery. The regen capacity is 0.6g, which is 'hard breaking'. if you use the N pedal mode, most of technical corners r covered only with regen break. That explains Ben P has more battery left. n cold breaks. 3. How Ben P's car dances. N pedal mode is an extreme version of one pedal mode;but it doesn't stop tho. It is involved not only in regenerative braking but also in the vehicle's maneuvering characteristics. while front wheels are doing some regenerative braking, rear wheels thrust. and sometimes vice versa. It predicts and controls in real time. n... EVs r never turn off the ESP. actually can't turn it off. This is a very long story so I'll skip it. One of the secret evidence that N engineers r totally crazy...is that... while the ABS is working, it regen.

Hyundai made an EV look and feel fun which is truly remarkable and a slap on the face of everyone else who decided to play safe. They just need to come up with a convincing external noise to match what the driver is experiencing inside the cabin. For most car guys, being fast alone doesn't cut it. You need exhaust sound to go along otherwise is like dancing to a great tune in public with your headphones on.

don't be distracted by the no. of cars they passed on the track; from the video, the traffic was quite slow; when the first real sports car appeared, it was bye bye 5n; it was very understeery out of corners(and into corners for that matter) and the direction changes were quite slow as well; fast for something in its size, but generally, slow in comparison with real sports cars; and don't forget, there are a number of hot hatchbacks that have a better time around the ring, all if them with less than half of the 5n power and most of them having manual gearboxes as well. But, indeed, the way it leaped out after the corners and the way the brakes resisted fading was impressive. The direction is good, now they just need to cut out 500 kgs of weight from it and make it 20% smaller in each direction.

I remember in Rob Dahm's video, they were mentioning about the options on the drivetrains, and how the car was made with racing/track drive in mind, it make sense why it can lapped 2 laps in Ring without overheating on either battery, motor, or even brakes! And yea, there are torque distribution adjustment iirc.

This is the first time I've seen a heavy EV actually have fun with it's weight - it looks like you can really rotate and place that thing wherever the hell your right foot wants it. Ever since Tesla first started exploding I was waiting for interesting, actually fun EVs - they're starting to roll in! Damn nice, Hyundai

Unlike other test drivers of this car like Harris or the Smoking Tire guy and most every other, Misha doesn't need the switching gears feature to transfer weight and know when to break etc... What a pro Misha is!

The IONIQ 5 N looks a really interesting EV and one of the first performance EV I would like to try out, that and Hyundai are one of the only brands producing some original and interesting ideas for there car designs. They really are out there trying different things and seeing what happens.
