Touch the small square indentation on either front door handles to lock the car if your key fob is in your possession. No need to take it or your smartphone out of your pocket to lock the car. It's how I lock the car when parking in public places. Works every time.

This is how I always lock my car. I wish I could lock it with the lock button inside the car (like I do with basically every other car with power locks that I’ve ever owned) but the proximity button on the handle is the next best thing I guess

Great video Carlos, thanks. In the opening seconds you are shown plugging in your charger to a rather long extension cord (and a lighter gauge one at that). Best practice is to avoid extension cords entirely, and use the shortest and heaviest gauge extension cords (12ga/20A, 25ft max length, shorter is better) when a cord is needed. There are times when the voltage drop introduced by a lightweight long extension cord will cause the charging system's protective circuity to shut off charging (a nasty surprise to find the next morning when you're already late to work). There's also increased overheating/fire risk.

Great stuff. Another feature: most of the hard buttons below the touch screen function as toggles. If you are on the screen showing realtime energy use and press the Warmer button to turn adjust heated seats, steering wheel, etc., you can just tap the Warmer button again to return to the realtime energy. Saves digging through menus.

Thanks for your tips! Is there an alternative rubber cover for the charging socket or charging flap cover for the ioniq 5? This cover protects the charging socket from dirt, dust and water. But I don't like the look of this rubber cover dangling from the car when fast charging.

You can also pre-condition in winter if you want more efficiency. Say you don't care about the energy loss heating the battery because you are charging at home, but you don't want to lose your range due to low efficiency.

  • @MustafaDane

One trick to do it is navigate to a nearby fast charger. Shut down the car go home. Remote start the car, it will continue the navigation and start conditioning. You might need to do this 2-3 times if it's too cold because remote start only works for 10 minutes

Tip #1 - Don't use an extension cord!! Seriously! (but if you must, use a short one rated for 15A) There's no such thing as "A/C Coolant." But perhaps the Owner's Manual will tell you what that fluid is. It looks like engine coolant (anti-freeze). Otherwise, that's a lot of good tips.

It must be noted that not all Ioniq 5’s have battery pre-conditioning. Long-range rearwheel drive Ioniq 5’s do not have this feature. This is a critical thing and is the one thing I hate about my Ioniq 5. Not having this feature means that cold weather charging is an absolute chore to do at a Level 3 DC Fast Charger. Driving the car for a while before trying to use a DCFC does not help either.

Here’s a tip… sell that piece of crap before the $60,000 battery dies. The high voltage battery in my 2017 Sonata PHEV died under warranty when the car was only four years old with 42,000 miles. Hyundai refused to repair or replace the battery under warranty. I had to go through non lemon law arbitration to have the vehicle repurchased, which I won easily. However, Hyundai then decided to miscalculate the repurchase amount and attempted to underpay me by $2000.00. This forced me to go through arbitration a second time, which I won (again). The whole process took 18 months…No loaner. If you own a Hyundai…Sell that piece of crap while you can…
