Thanks for the first review I've seen on the XC90 Recharge Extended Range. I've got one and love it, having come from a 2017 XC90 T6. The quietness and power are amazing, and around Tucson, I'm getting 40 miles on just electric, using the Hybrid mode, and using the B mode as I would downshifting with a manual transmission car to slow for corners, etc. And when using B it is very close to one pedal driving. I've got 4,000 miles on mine with 3,000 of those on long, multiday trips without overnight charging, but I've still averaged 32 mpg overall.

Just got ones I’m these for my wife yesterday. It’s super nice. Our first dip into plugging vehicles in to see how it goes. We have solar which over produces so this was our first step toward electric vehicles.

When and where will you post the range test in Pure Mode video you mentioned. I've looked for it and cannot find it.

This car doesn't have Google built-in, it has the old Sensus infotainment. The XC60 you drove in Palm Springs in March uses Volvo's new Android Automotive infotainment, which has the built-in google maps and google assistant. The XC90, and all other Volvo models, will have the newer infotainment in the 2023 model year. Thanks for the review Ben.

There are advantages though to a system that has been tested and in service longer. Lots of X60 drivers are complaining about the Android Automotive infotainment for which Apple Car Play has been promised but not delivered to date. Also does not appear to be able to accept downloaded music from a USBa flash drive and instead goes the streaming route with less quality. Perhaps a USBa to USBc adaptor will work once the software issues get resolved, but who knows since no-one has tested it and won't be able to with the current software.

I got my XC90 Recharge a few weeks ago my biggest issue is the infotainments system. The Volvos are just lacking compared to other manufacturers. It should have a dial to change drive modes. I wish there was a button for the camera as well, especially when parking. The Sensus system isn't very good. The Apple Carplay only uses half of the screen, which is a waste. I use Google Maps constantly. The Google integration is on other models, but not this one, which is really weird. That being said, I need the 7 seats and it has been a pleasure to drive.

Still wish it could fast charge like new outlander

How do you compare this to Lincoln aviator GT?

Does it have isofix on the rear row of seats?

Great, detailed review. Thanks. Love the power train especially the 30+ mile EV only range. Your correct abt versatility of PHEV for all round driving, until we get fast power stations everywhere. PS next time pls identify the front PASSENGER seat features on every vehicle, for my spouse's sake and a peaceful relationship.

It has all the same stuff as the driver’s seat. Heating, ventilating, and optional massage.

I'm conflicted. I'm shopping the Subaru Ascent, which I can buy with only about $17k loan after all is said and done. Or I can get a 2023 XC90 Recharge T8 Extended Range for about $39k loan after all is said and done. Is the 2023 XC90 T8 Extended Range worth $22k more than a 2023 Subaru Ascent? I'm having a really hard time deciding.

Given the complexity of the drivetrain, lease only. Volvo needs to place the drive modes onto a dial on the steering wheel. Having to use the screen is dangerous and distracting.

@@AAhmad3449 No. I have the money to drive luxury cars and I'm smart enough to know they're not assets, they're liabilities, particularly when you're paying repair bills. Here's where you're missing the point when you say "if you have the money to drive a luxury car"---I don't care about mpg, hence why I'm not a Camry driver.
