Unless you really super love the style, I'd suggest rather save 1200 bucks and get the Street Bob 114 ABS, or upgrade a bit to an LRS and get inverted forks, dual disk brakes, a more powerful engine and that super nice monoshock frame. Stage 1 on the 114 softail is waaaaay cheaper than the chiefs too if you wanna upgrade. You gotta spend 1500$ at least to get stage 1 and that doesn't seem to include the tune at the dealer. I'd rather slap down the extra 1000 and get the LRS, or save me 1200$ and get FXBBS and get access to that huge library of aftermarket parts.

Yeah, Indian has had some sneaky ad practices in the last few years. Last year they lowered the display MSRP price of their FTR and put an astrisk below it saying "after 1500$ charge" They've been putting unverified crank HP numbers on their website too, when no smart person will refer to a crank HP number. Only suckers fall for that. I remember them advertising the FTR with that custom one for 11 months and then bait and switched us with that weird wanna be ducati naked instead. Now this year it's sneakily pretending all the chiefs have that TFT screen conveniently not mentioning you need to buy a 116 to get the system. This looks pretty cool and a pretty nice bike. looks like a Dyna Street Bob with dyna Lowrider S exhaust. But after seeing the prices compared to what I could get for a softail, I'd have to get the softail instead. I'd say if all of those bikes had that TFT screen, and ABS stock... or perhaps dual disc front end stock, I'd be considering the cheapest one. I can't help but notice those huge control module blocks on the bars, they look sooo goofy. There is no good reason for them to be that freakin big and blocky. Even more so knowing that the blinker is only on one side. There's still that indian throttle delay? That happens on the old chiefs, FTR, and Challenger too. Why havent they fixed that? My current electric does that delay throttle stuff and I dont like it. Indian should really fix that, there's no reason to have a delay like that, especially in sport mode. The bike didnt seem to want to pick up speed too much, do you think it's just the stock airbox+exhaust that's making in that way? Or is the 111 kinda weak? Or maybe im used to watching Blockhead's 131 LRS take off like a rocket, haha. But everytime you rolled on that throttle it just looked like it was chugging, and then it let off so quickly. The 116 looks a little better but it doesn't look to much better. Do you feel it pull noticably harder in the butt dyno region? The bike wants to pull to the right? Do any of the softails do that? I don't think ive ever heard anyone say that about any of the softails. I'm less interested now tbh. This looks cool but that throttle delay, and super short power band, and gutless looking roll on doesn't sell me on it.

Yeah there is a noticeable throttle delay. The 111 wasn't weak but the 116 was definitely more powderfull through the rev range. The stock air cleaner and especially the mufflers are very restricted not allowing the bikes potential to surface. Im betting a tune would help dial out the throttle delay. My vic octane pulled to the right until I went with a much lighter full system exhaust. The Chief is right side heavy and the softails are left side heavy due to the case.

So much to say about "that" ride...... Ride Leader was real soft on getting onto the 101 & yes wasn't happy with going 60mph on the 101.

Not as pretty as the Billiard Blue Slim. Shame they didn't make the Chief a monoshock for a cleaner look/better ride.

So......Indian comes out with a nice bike that only needs the replacement of the bars, seat, exhaust....etc....is way too wide to be comfortably rideable...plus costs a boatload of cash....plus I do not want "ride mode" "cruise control" and all of the destined to fail but impossible to owner diagnose electronic bits. In the final analysis.....I remain happier with my old Evo

Had a 2020 Harley Fat Bob. Loved the bike, but for what you get with the Indian for the same price the Indian is the better choice hands down. The tech, built in cruise control, bigger motor, mini apes stock, different riding modes, nav, Bluetooth capabilities. Harley milks those addons for money which is why Harley is trash.
