I can see that you are getting more comfortable on the twisty bits, good job, corners are where it's at for me, also nice to hear you acknowledge that there are advantages to mid mounted footpegs, the ability to push down with the feet when cornering, lift your rear end on bumpy roads etc. I have ridden with forward controls and in my country (New Zealand) they are not practical at all.

I like that red also, shame only on the base model. I built one in red with a large screen, crash bars, forward boards, rack and that small bag, extended reach seat and cruiser bars and it was a little over 18k before the extras. Thus it is great that Indian has the options in place to customize this new Chief to the individual rider. Also glad Blockhead that you went through the operation and data available on the standard speedometer which is enough for me. I already have the first Polaris a Victory Cross Country which is fabulous for a large bagger. I also desire a mid cruiser bike to replace my V Star 1300 Deluxe. I think Indian hit a home run.

LOL at your comments on comparisons to Florida riding. Florida is a whole lot like what we have up here in southwestern Ontario... about as much "geography" as a billiard table. I'm also watching carefully to see how quickly the aftermarket catches up with this bike. I would probably want to set one up as a bagger, and I see some deficiencies in the stock Super Chief setup that I think can be rectified by customization. A two-into-one exhaust would get the pipes out of the way for some bigger, lockable bags, and a nice Saddlemen step-up would doubtless increase long-range comfort. A nice high sissy bar will allow a lot more gear to be strapped on. And CHROME, dammit... more bloody CHROME! (I'm NOT a fan of the blacked-out aesthetic!)

I found the scout and chieftain to be allot alike in the lean angle easy to scrape pipes and pegs. Maybe a 1 to to inch higher ride height would help with that. I have been told my Roadmaster is just a little bit higher and allows for that dig in the turns.

Lean angle is a problem with the Victory Judge as well. I have scraped so many times because of the deceptive handling. This bike looks really similar to the Judge as far as handling. Does it feel lighter than it is? The Judge does with the fat tire in the front. If you dig into a turn you will scrape. This bike looks like it will do that too.
