I'm a fan of retro's, but, of all the 'modern' bikes, the NC range makes most sense to me, personally. In this country of 50mph limits this level of relaxed power and economy is in a sweet spot IMO. Wish they could get the weight down by another 15kg though. I'm going to have to get myself a test ride. I'd like one styled in the way of new CB neo range!

I like the foot pegs on the scooter! Makes sense for riding off-road. And for more control & comfort on the road. I can sit in the "chair position" about 45 minutes on my scooters before my back quits.

I think the 2021 NC looks a lot sharper than the outgoing version, and the lower seat helps improve the aesthetic of what was a bit of a lanky looking thing. Given the target market - those looking for an economical commuter/tourer - price will be crucial. Can't see Honda deviating too much from current prices.

Have thought about the XADV for last few years but thought they might have an upgrade with the the design and TFT from the Africa Twin. Don’t know what it would be like to ride 40 years riding and never even been on a scooter. The XADV sort of sits in the middle really a motorcycle dressed in scooter clothing. The new changes might make it a real possibility now I’m getting on a bit in years.

Holly poop, I must of have been living under a rock. I have never heard of an X ADV. Do they bri g it to the US? That is an off roading scooter. Crazy but super cool! About the NC750X, I've always liked that bike. But, even though I am not a hardcore adventure rider, I am looking for a bike with a little more ADV spirit. I am planing a trip through Central and South America. I have seen plenty of videos of people doing the same and riding on some pretty rough dirt roads that you can find yourself in in third would countries. Can this bike handle that? Plus, the lack of power is also a factor. At under 60hp how well could it handle all the extra gear in an efficient way? And lastly, I get that Honda wanted the bike to lose some weight, but the extra space used for storage rather than gas definitely makes it a no go. Some of those those roads in the middle of some countries can be very long and lonely, with excessive miles in between stations. Some people carry extra fuel, but here the lack of power can show it's ugly face again. I wish Honda had released a mid weight African Twin rather than just upgrading this bike. But since they turned this bike a road bike rather than an ADV, perhaps they did that to open room for a baby African Twin. I sure hope so!

Most likely not. If the Honda upper crust do not perceive at least 850 to 1250 units for the USA market on the first go around, they will leave it for the European market until it becomes soft. There thought is the US buyer won't pay the big bucks for a over priced scooter. And although it looks like a scoot, it really isn't ! They built in all the features of a ADV bike w/ DCT and adv wheels and tires and ergo's and then are to stupid to tap the market in the USA for which is was made for. This bike is perfect for older riders that want to get out in the back country on a reliable adv bike without having to straddle a 35-36 " seat height CRF450L and try and go balls to walls and relive there youthful days of long ago. And come on folks The baby boomer/bikers are the ones who could afford such a great ADV bike of this caliber and design. I mean after all, there so scatterbrained as to only bring in the CT125 trail to the US market only in the RED trim, when 75% are more of the potential buyers are all screaming for the tan color. do you think there smart enough to get it correct regarding a marketing decision about one of the best products they have built in the last twenty years. Bottom Line most likely = " Stupid people have stupid ways and if your waiting for this scoot your wast'n your days "

The 2021 NC750X is a great all round bike. It can and does, like most modern bikes do most things really well. Sure it’s not a hard core adventure bike , but for real off road capability you need a CRF250, not even a Africa twin ! And who really takes even the AT seriously off road ? It’s too big and too heavy that’s why there’s a CRF250. It’s more than a commuter - it’s a fantastic all round bike - you can use it as a daily work horse, and you can tour on it. Yes other and much bigger bikes may do things a bit better - but it’s all relative - at £7,500 brand new ( manual version) it makes a hell of a lot of sense and for most riders is more than enough. It has loads of torque in the right ranges, stick heated grips and panniers on and it’s hard to beat as a affordable package. KZread is full of positive reviews and global touring evidence. Extremely comfortable, plenty of power, bullet proof reliability, and does what many other bikes do for often 3-5K less.

It still has practically the same down low power. Perhaps even an improvement power-to-weight. Indiscernible difference in economy in practice, just gearing which may not mesh quite as optimally with tests. The added power comes from a higher redline, which is a very good development on the manual version, since you're less likely to bang into it midway through an intersection, overtake, whatever. Additional redline has no downsides, and some upsides, as long as it can be added with so little negative effect to anything else (I'm assuming reliability isn't harmed by the higher piston speeds. Honda generally seem to have good control wrt reliability, though.)

As for hitting the limit at an overtake or intersection I'd say anyone doing that needs to learn how to ride better.

How is it that every other maker can achieve power in the upper 90's HP from a 750/800cc engine, and yet honda can only manage the mid 50's. Why does Honda persist with this engine ? I did own a 2018 X-ADV and I can say from two years of ownership, that mid 50's hp doesn't make for an engaging ride, it's OK for town work, other than that, it's boring (I now have a Tiger 900 GT PRO, much more fun).

That is partly true, but Honda and other manufacturers have bike which are not only much cheaper but are lighter and are equally frugal. Where these bike are suited (in my opinion) is for touring as they are comfortable and the X-ADV in particular offers really good weather protection, and could cruise all day long at 80 plus, but unfortunately, they are compromised in this role by their small tank, the most I could get from X-ADV was about 150 miles, and as I said, they are just not engaging away from touring.
