Thanks for this overview - great to to see your reaction as an existing NC owner. Have to say I was immediately drawn to the look of the 2021 version when I first saw the publicity shots. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh - based on what you are saying this bike could be a strong candidate for my next purchase. The European price will be around 8,100 euros for the DCT version I believe so I imagine in the UK it will be slightly less in £ sterling. Looking forward to your review when it comes!

Looks and sounds like it will be a solid bike. I like the auto cancelling signals and hazard lights. The display looks a little busy - as you said it would be nice if some of that info went away after making adjustments.

Good review and I agree with what you have said. Other good stuff I notice from the video at the end (I had only seen the static shots on the website). Black wheels - much easier for cleaning and don't look so bad when the bike has been out in the wet, or with chain throw off on the inside rear wheel. Big one is Daytime Running Lights. Although I don't want to pay Honda prices for extra packs they now allow a Honda tall screen, heated grips, luggage and you can get a charge port in the frunk. Weight loss, a bit more power and low down grunt is good. I wonder if the combination of this and the gearing will allow a higher top speed. Not clear if the DCT is the later generation fitted to the Africa Twin. Shame they couldn't have added ambient temperature to the new display - hopefully you can read that when heading into low winter sun. If the pads are sintered then that will probably improve the brakes a lot. I don't want to have to pay for two sets of pads at the front and I don't want the extra weight of another disk. The styling looks great. Honda have done a very good job here - they have made the bike Euro 5 compliant without introducing much bigger heavier fuel guzzling engine. The fact that they have been able to do this, increase power and keep the fuel economy nearly as good is a testament to the original engine design.

Cheers for your thoughts mate. I too own a ‘17 but in manual (as no DCT ever offered in Australia🤷‍♂️). LOVE the look of the new 2021 - slight power/torque increase & weight loss, LED indicators, also ‘look’ of the new seat etc. Not convinced it needed a gearing change (in manual form anyway) as standard ratios I find fine. Guess higher 4/5/6 ratios will mean lower revs at motorway/highway speeds - not really needed IMO as it revs so low already! Unfortunately I’m told Honda Australia have removed NCX from our market next year, so no idea what’s going on there🤷‍♂️ Stay safe😎

Thanks for another great review, ER. I saw somewhere that Honda would be changing the head to save space, with the single camshaft bearing directly on the exhaust valves, and rockers for the inlet valves only. If this is the case, adjusting the valve clearances would get more challenging, possibly too much so for the rider who saves cost by doing theses jobs themselves. Is this true?

Its heavy- Yes due to price they havent used so many alloys - youll get used to it. Great price - great seat comfort, wheather protection, seating postion, the sound of the exhausht is great (I know this from when I tested the 502c) & thats just some of my views on it!! there is alot to be said for it. It's not perfect but plenty good enough. Maybe next year ill be able to have a go!!

Think the new model will handle miles better with the suspension lowered. Test rode both 2017 S & X models. Finally bought X DCT. Like the look and pretection the fairing gives you. After over 20000 miles many different suspension changes was going to swap for another bike. The S model rides much better and only difference is suspension travel. So with the new model being lowered to same height has the previous S model im hoping makes big difference to handling and comfort. The DCT is best thing since slice bread. Has a commuter in heavy traffic it makes my daily ride so easy.

While the lower seat height may be desirable, it comes at a price of sorts. The rear suspension travel is reduced from 5.9" to 4.7" and the front fork's travel is reduced from 5.4" to 4.7". This is on a bike which is not really known for it's suspension compliance. The bike is starting to get pretty techy for my tastes, I personally don't see the need. While I like the reduced weight, performance changes and enlarged storage area, I think I'll look for a leftover 2020. G.

I am very interested in this bike. I am also interested in the Tracer 700 but it won't be coming to the U.S., at least not in 2021 and I can't wait for Yamaha to wake up. The nice thing is that now that they have lowered this bike and given it a bit more power perhaps it is roughly equivalent to the Tracer 7. My only fear (and a reason why I hate to buy new motorcycles) is I can see buying it and then having Honda add cruise control and better brakes in the next model year or two.

I test rode one today as I'm thinking of upgrading my older "S" model, I prefer the looks of the X but it was a bit to "tall" for me . Surprise, surprise, pretty much the same but with a bit more "Oomph". Bit smoother too but mine's knocking on a bit so maybe that's to be expected. Lower seat height is good for me personally but perhaps not so good if you are tall. Didn't notice any weight difference though apparently there is some reduction. As for all the newfangled electrickery, didn't really try it but not convinced I ever would. I have it on other bikes and seldom go to rain mode even if the roads are wet. Flyby wire throttle might explain some of the smoothness though? In summation. It's still a great and underrated bike, slightly improved. Would I upgrade? Jury is still out on that one, no particular hurry to though. On the other hand, if I were looking for a new bike at this price range (because I didn't already own one), then I'd definitely consider it. DCT might be a step too far though even though I know it makes sense.

I like the new look of the 2021. I love my '18 DCT version but thinking of the '21 lately. My biggest concern is the windshield...I don't know why Honda keeps designing that ineffective style on this motorcycle. I'm 5'9 with long legs so I sit quite tall and that windshield doesn't protect me at all. I had purchased a windshield from @Madstad Engineering in the US which is far better because it's adjustable and comes in 4 different tint formulas..Would love if you could do a ride test review on the 2021. Cheers!

Everything good I love this smart bike. However one big issue for many of us is the high price tag with or without DCT. For the same money, there are many "'better" bikes. In 2017 the pricing was ok then in 2018 to 2020 Honda decided to increase the price almost 1000 euro, now it has again increased. I rode one in 2018, despite the seat height ,I'm 5f6, it is fun and light to ride and I love it. The engine do not feel small, she pull strong at low rpm, that is important if you want a confi ride 2up. comfortable seat and suspensions. I found the front storage a great idea however when it is empty completely and when you ride in bad roads it emphasise the road noise it act like a loud speaker, i filled with same fabric or throw a soft smal bag inside to cut that noise. After few tests of the NC750x then I tested the Harley Davidson once and I ended up buying a Harley Davidson😅 The price the dealer gave me at H-D was not too far from the NC, deal was done. My heart still want the NC and i miss it .

Hi, yes pricing of bikes these days is getting silly I agree, I have ridden many bikes and although you bought the Harley, you did buy what was right at the time. If you bought the nc you would be wondering what the Harley was like. So much choice these days but like you say pricing is silly. Infact that is where company's like royal enfeild come in and smash the industry with good well priced bikes 👍

Probably around £7500, about right for what you get but nearly two grand more than the CB500F which has similar (if more revvy) performance but is also an excellent commuter.

Few times iv'e wanted more braking force on mine especially with a passenger. the new dash is a little disappointing, concidering the new forza 750 gets a really nice one. but a better seat is something the NC range has needed since they first came out . as mine has been swapped for a SHAD plus the rubber lift Mod. another thing that would be much better is easier access to air box. right pain taking half the bike apart to find it .

I think honda are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they change the NC too much then people will say it is not an NC; if they only change it slightly then they will be accused of just doing it to charge more money for it. I don't think the gearing needs changed; I have never needed shorter gears 1-3 or a higher top gear. The new speedo display looks to be much better than the current one which is not very good in bright sunlight. It would be even better if the slope of the display could be adjustable. The headlight looks to be an improvement. I was surprised the first time I saw my bikes headlight in daylight. Definitely not good enough to make car drivers take notice of you. The seat might very well be more comfortable; it would be very hard to make it worse 😁 (solved with an eye-watering Shad replacement). Horn button still in the wrong place - was not expecting anything else. It would have been good if they had managed to fit an external fuel filler to remove the need to raise the seat. Doubt I would buy the new version, but I live in hope that it may make it possible that I can buy a brand new "old" model with DCT at a reasonable price. If that does not happen I will happily keep my 2018 manual NC. it is easily the best bike I have ever owned.

I was waiting for this 2021 model in hopes of a more visible display, more comfortable seat... and if lucky, the change to a 19 inch front wheel like they did for the cb500x. I believe that the honda NC line had the opportunity to be one of the most versatile bikes... and I'm disappointed that they went in the direction of street specific commuting. I like a lot of the upgrades, and didn't expect this bike to become a smaller Africa Twin.... but I think for many people that just want one motorcycle, it is better to have one that does everything well rather than one that does some things excellent and others not at all. The cb500x is not a true adventure bike, but ppl loved that it was not only great on the street but handled itself pretty well off-road.... Honda gave it the 19 inch front wheel which made it even better off-road, but not off-road specific wheels/tires. Last year NC750X fell into the same category. Not as many ppl tried to use it for strictly off-road use like the CB, however many ppl used it for touring and communicating that sometimes required traveling through dirt or gravel roads. The ppl that wanted this type of versatility in a bike that chose the NC over the CB was because of the extra power (great for highway riding) and of course the "frunk". Everyone has their preference... I personally just wish Honda went in the direction of versatility with the NC line (like they did for the CB), rather than targeting the street specific rider.

I am disappointed in the so-called new styling for the 2021 NC750X. I think they putted 2021. They could have made it look a lot better. It still looks dated.

Fair enough, I like it and much better than previous updates which were just boring colour changes. I think it's OK - not ground brecking but a good few improvements none the less. I respect you opinion👍

@@exeterrider I do laugh at Honda's country marketing. I live in Canada and all they do it deny Canada some of the colours that the US gets for any given year, then the next year Canada get those same colours that the US had the previous year and they call it new for 20XX.

@@OntarioAndrews415 yes that's disrespectful isn't it tbh. It should launched at the same Timor it makes Canada feel second place. Not right but we have simular issues in Europe. Thanks for watching the video. 👍📹📺👌

Uninspiring looking...looks like a eco friendly retirement commuter bike. The Honda xadv looks waaay more hip than this left over egg salad sandwich of a bike.

@@exeterrider as long as it's fresh egg salad. I once forgot and left an egg salad sandwich In my school wall locker over the weekend. You would of thought the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus was in the hallway come Monday monrning😵 - I'm a proud Yamaha Tmax owner....the xadv is edgier looking in my humble opinion. Geez I wish the new Tmax, 750x, and x adv 750 were offered here in the u.s........we are so behind the times here. Our economy sucks, and the president hates my black people. Sometimes you just want to get on a bike and Go. Continued blessings to you.

@@foolishcoyote. And to you buddy.I hear nothing but good things about the Tmax- well apart from fuel economy. I use to own a 650 Burgman , And still miss the easy getting "on/off" nature of scooters. Yes strange times we live in, You with Trump and we have Brexit.. Having said that it makes life more interesting and exciting. Thanks for watching.
