2019 Toyota C-HR Review // Updates after just one year!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Toyota C-HR was introduced just last tear for 2018 and her we are one year later and Toyota has added two new rims, listed and added a proper head unit with a backup camera, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio and Entune 3.0.The Toyota C-HR is a new compact utility, or crossover vehicle, that is smaller and less expensive than the RAV4. The Toyota C-HR is only offered with front wheel drive (FWD) and is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P as standard equipment. The Toyota C-HR is sold as an LE, XLE or XLE with premium package and Limited . There is no sunroof and the back seat feels small due to the small back windows. On the up side this C-HR drives well thanks to a 2.0L 4-cylinder with 144hp matched to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

I just bought the XLE a few days ago. I absolutely love it. The inside is super sleek with lots of extras and comfortable, unfortunately, it does NOT come with heated seats... maybe in Canada. I really like the look of it, and have received compliments from complete strangers. An added plus is that this little guy has some surprising power and control. I'm a married woman in my late 30s, living in a city, and do not plan on having children - I'm close to the target demographic. All I can say, is I'm a happy new car owner.

I love my CH-R 2019 I bought mines in oct. 2018 I saw it in a commercial and I said I got to have this car. Love the room inside all the features for my Iphone, love that I don't have text and drive. Is luxury to drive this car. I get a lot of complements, people love the two tone colors red and black. I feel very safe on this car, love the way it handles on the curves and fast on the freeway. Love the fancy wheels, I love the little windows on the side it makes the car look luxurious. Love all the room on the back and even more room when you fold the back seats, I can actually sleep there LOL. This CH-R 2019 is full equip. The price for the car is worth it. Love my CH-R

I LOVE my 2019 C-HR XLE! You really get a lot of car for the money especially with the XLE trim and the safety features can't be beat at this price range. UPDATE: What people don't mention are the optional TRD performance parts from the dealer (at least here in the US) I have just added the TRD Air Intake for more horsepower and torque to the 2.0 liter 144 hp engine and I can already feel the difference and best of all I am not voiding my warranty. It does not automatically become a Supra but it is more peppy and without resorting to a turbo, I know the engine will last. Soon I will be adding the TRD Lowering Springs for even better performance. Nice move on Toyota's part to make these parts available on the car.

@@malcolmar did it reduce fuel mpg?

  • @malcolmar

    @malcolmar

    2 жыл бұрын

@@whatitisnt. Actually it did which is why I believe the air intake kit was not installed from the factory. Getting the all-important 30 MPGs or close to it is very important for cars in this competitive segment. For me, the performance gains are well worth it. I have the roof racks on my car which already produce drag and lowers the MPGs but I saw a reduction in about 2-3 MPGs but I was able to get some of that back with a device called Tornado Air which improved the air-fuel mixture. Again for me, the upgrades are well worth it and they help bring out the car's full performance potential.

I just bought this car(XLE) last week, I love it so much. good looking, nice driving experience and cool tech, It is good for small family. It cost me 26k(includes tax), I think it is better than the Honda HRV, HRV is too small and I have an bad experience with my last car which is honda civic 2017(tire pressure always says low, but it is ok, and the electronic braking system error when you starting the vehicle), so I forget honda product. In a word, Toyota has the best quality, Honda has the best engine, Nissan has the best comfort, and of course I mean Japanese vehicle.

This is a great vehicle for a single person or a couple as an owner I would not recommend this for a family there’s just not enough room if you plan on carrying a lot of people on a regular basis. If they would add just a little bit more HP/Torque on this vehicle it would be perfect. The electric seats are super comfortable I get 28-31 mpg which is nice.

I'm a sure a simple software update can implement AA. This is only with the systems already having CarPlay I'm assuming. Until then I'll have to look at Honda, Mazda, and Subaru. Mazda is even retrofitting AA, and CarPlay from certain 2014 models, and up. Toyota is being stubborn.

I'm thinking of buying a new Toyota. I'm driving a second hand 2007 Auris now, but I heard they're not gonna make Auris anymore. The choice was going between Auris and this awesome C-HR, that I fell in love with instantly, but since they're not gonna make Auris anymore... They say "go for the Corolla hatchback then" but to be honest, I don't like the way it looks on the front. And C-HR on the other side, I read good and bad comments about it. Oh such a difficult choice 😑

Auris and Corolla are just different names for the same line of vehicles. For whatever reason Toyota choose to give up the venerable Corolla name in Europe and replace it with Auris for the hatch and the station wagon. The sedan is still called Corolla in the few european markets, that even get it.

This car is very successful in both Japan and China market. The more expensive hybrid version combines both sport and high efficiency. Plus a good manufacture quality from Toyota. Those explain the strong sales performance in Asian.

I wanted one of these in the teal color, till I saw no AWD and not much power. Also now I see the base model comes with hubcaps? That’s hideous. No sunroof whatsoever? That sucks too. When you live in the Great Lakes region AWD is a must. If they ever add the options I like then I might consider one someday. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I like the "look" of this vehicle much more so than the new 2019 Toyota Corolla. Unfortunately, I've read so many "good" reviews about the new Corolla, and so many "bad" reviews on this C-HR, that when it comes time to replace my 2001 Celica (which will be soon) I will almost surely replace it with the Corolla than the C-HR. A test drive of each, will be needed, of course, so we shall see.

The reason it "missed the mark" last year was because at last minute, Toyota took what was supposed to be a Scion and slapped some Toyota badges onto it. The original intention was for this to be the Scion C-HR before the brand was dissolved into Toyota, which explains why it had no features or legitimate trims, and it had the old shitty Scion infotainment system that lacked features like Apple CarPlay and XM radio.

Anyone got transmission problems looking for a car and I see a lot of cars of this model being sold with just 10000km so actually brand new... I wonder why so many cars sold of this model and I rad that a lot of C HR vt have transmission problems around 60.000 miles... Getting whiney noises and also sensor gear torgue convertor problems.... I do like the look of this car and looking for a nice suv and this one sure got the looks sure in dark grey....

Toyota needs to offer better options, like an 1.6 turbo gasoline engine with 170-180hp for a car this weight and this price point.. Mazda has stronger engine options, Hyndai and Honda as well... in fact the Hyndai beets all others in the category.. The CH-R is sluggish as hell the 0-60 is a bad joke considering the wild aggressive sport-esk looks.. they could also make an all electric engine around 0-60 in 6-7 seconds..

Are your prices Canadian Dollars or US Dollars? Or maybe Australian Dollars? New Zealand Dollars? Hong Kong Dollars? Singapore Dollars? Barbadian Dollars? Taiwan Dollars? Clarity for an international audience would be good. I noted someone mention that in Taiwan, they get the 1.2 Turbo version with the 4WD option. We get that in the UK too, as well as the 1.2 Turbo 2WD and the 1.8 Hybrid.

To be honest, the C-HR has been vastly improved for this model year over the decent (if not great) start of its life just last year. It has an interesting stand-out design that even works yet does look pretty good (basically a better looking Nissan Juke), it's well equipped for the price, has a functional interior with good quality especially given the price point of this vehicle, a decent amount of room despite the design and the size of SUV this is, has genuinely fun road manners (despite its weak powertrain) However, with flaws like the lack of all-wheel drive, weak powertrain, subpar-at-best fuel economy, and the fact that I think it relies more on form over function (Jesus Christ, the claustrophobic rear seat and massive rear blind spots...), do prove that C-HR still has some room for improvement, especially when we're talking about Toyota, who has put out the impressive new Camry, the near-perfect new Avalon, the surprising new Corolla (both sedan and hatchback), the interesting (in a positive demeanour) new RAV4, and so far, even the re-imagined badass new Supra. But again, despite its flaws, I still think the C-HR is a fun pick if you're shopping within the Sub-Compact SUV segment. *FINAL RATING:* 7/10 = Good
