2018/2019 Toyota C-HR Detailed Review & Drive

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Toyota CH-R is a very unique offering from Toyota. It's not your typical small crossover, but also not quite like a hatchback. It has it's pros and cons like any vehicle, and we go through a detailed review and test drive. This model is the 2018 CHR, but the 2019 CHR has made some changes so keep that in mind.

    Spectacular review, Nolan! I personally really find the styling of the CH-R to be pretty attractive looking. It undeniably looks like no other vehicle in its class (which may be a good thing or a bad thing to certain people). I honestly appreciate Toyota deciding to design this vehicle in a more angular, youthful and 'edgy' way. Afterall, this model was projected to be in the Scion lineup before the brand became defunct. Nevertheless, I find it pretty considerate of Toyota to offer 3 trim levels for 2019 (with a base model that starts at about $1,500 less than the base 2018 model). Especially since most people shopping in this segment are on a budget... Lastly, I really like the diamond accent cues splashed all around. It definitely adds to the more "style-forward" approach of the C-HR's interior. All in all, I would probably wait for the 2019 model if I was in the market for a sub-compact SUV, though. This is mainly because I would take advantage of those added trim levels as well as the much needed updated infotainment system. Once again, great video with very well presented information! From one car reviewer to another, keep up the great work, Nolan!

    Thanks, Marcus! Very good points and I also appreciate Toyota sticking with the concept type styling to attract those Scion buyers. I also agree with waiting for the 2019 models too...better packaging and value IMO. Thanks for the support!

    I appreciate your review, which is pretty spot on. I have had a 2019 C-HR for 5 months, and I love it! The complaint about acceleration is legitimate, but I find sport mode to be a better option, especially on the freeway. The small windows in the backseat would be problematic for kids, but I rarely have anyone in the back. It handles very well, I love its edgy looks, and I it's really fun to drive. I am glad I have the 2019 model.

    I got mine last week, it sets apart from the competition it terms of design. Although some people complains about lack of power and size, we must remember it is not an SUV per se. If I ever wanted an SUV I would've gone for one, if I ever wanted a fast car, I would've bought a Mustang which is within my budget, so the C-HR is what it is and I love it. When it comes to options, downsides are the choice of red here in China, which is something like maroon, and there is also no hybrid version.

    it's beautiful...scion was made to have radical/edgy cars (had their gen 1 '05 xB, and for 2+ years I had people coming up to my car asking what it was, etc.), and this was a return to that concept as they weren't selling a lot of cars before they the scion divison got returned into Toyota. My brother bought the xle prem, and I've ridden and driven, and yeah i have to agree it's NOT a slug as a lot of the reviewers are saying, repeat NOT a slug... oh, do you see the vortex generators on the front side of the driver and passenger side mirrors and on both sides just before the rear tail lights)...scion also had it on the iM I believe, and good that they are pushing the limits...

  • @PrimeAutotainment

    Glad it was helpful! I was initially worried about that too..but surprisingly it wasn’t that bad. I definitely would still prefer some better visibility, but I merged onto a busy interstate multiple times per day and found it to be ok. The Morris actually did pretty well wen you get them where you want. Could always add the little blind spot mirrors if needed too

    I like the look/styling. It's the reason I'm here looking into it. But from what I've learned, I'd definitely be more interested in the 2019. I really wish it had a dropdown armrest with cupholders in the center of the backseat, though.

  • @tylerjacobs6395

    I just went looking at the 2019 model and I love it especially for its price and how it looks. The car doesn’t deliver that much power to really compliment its sportish look and that’s the only downside for me. The viability on the 2019 has improved from this model some. I didn’t check under the hood if the car had it but when I went on the Toyota website later on, you have the option to install a TRD air intake for $400 which will slightly help the power in this car. I’m highly considering purchasing the 2019 XLE for a daily car for sure. Very unique design

  • @PrimeAutotainment

    @PrimeAutotainment

    6 жыл бұрын

    T Jacobs definitely at a great price point and it’s cool to have a unique looking vehicle like this. That’s nice to know about the TRD air intake. Most of my test drive here was in a highway..but in town from stops or low speeds it can feel pretty zippy especially in sport mode which I think can make up for it. Good choice going with a 2019 and the XLE trim...that’s a good value. Thanks for sharing this and watching. Enjoy your CH-R if you get one!

    The Camry night actually weigh more but I can’t remember and the CHR is only front wheel drive, as if this year the Camry is available with all wheel drive in some trims so maybe look into one of those...otherwise the RAV4 would be a good option. Bigger than the CHR but not too big and it can have all wheel drive. Something to consider 😁

Both models powered by 1.2 Turbocharged petrol engine and LED taillights. You can customised the roof too. Please see links below: www.toyota.com.au/main/C-HR. If I were you I’d test drive a couple others to compare, but I don’t think you could go wrong with the CHR. I’d go for a 2019 over a 2018 though because of changes

However, if you are humble enough to consider you do not know all and are willing to improve your reviews, there is massive info in video and articles available on correct driving posture. I made a smart as$ remark and apologize for that. Thanks for taking the time to write in. I know the proper hip, knee, shoulder points etc but honestly feel more comfortable sitting low and reclining back further than most. In these test cars I tend to move the seats around a lot to see how it feels with different positions. Good point on making a video. I work in Physical Therapy, in fact, and a lot of my patients have horrible posture and positioning at work, in the car, in chairs etc so that could be very helpful for a lot of people.
