2019 Toyota C-HR Limited Review - Never Expected to Say THIS

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I was never a proponent of Toyota's C-HR. But now that I've driven it, I never expected to say this. M.S.R.P. - $29,643.

I have owned a chr for over a year now and there's definitely a difference in sport mode. Too many drivers are over concerned with horse power, that's why driving related deaths are as high as they are. Drive safe👍

Without the aluminum rims, my 2019 CHR LE was $22K for $386/Month. I’m a local in Maui, Hawaii, and most of my travel from home to work, gym, and back to home is less than 20 miles, half tank of gas is about a week and a quarter. The only con I have is the languid acceleration, however, I’m not interested in driving passing the speed limit nor am I trying to get a speed ticket. Other than that, I’m glad to own this vehicle.

You did an awesome job in giving details about the car. I am forty-nine years old and my husband--of over twenty years of marriage--was debating about getting this car because of the negative comments on the acceleration, but I am not a speedy/heavy foot driver...so he’s taking me to test drive it in a few months....thats because our lease on our Camry isnt up until November.

The blind spot monitors are definitely my favourite safety feature, and the adaptive cruise control that slows you down when approaching another vehicle when you can't overtake, and then accelerates you back up quickly when you do, is awesome. I have the 1.8 which has enough get up and go for me, but does encourage a more relaxed sedate driving style, which is no bad thing. The best thing of all though is fuel economy. That's why I bought a hybrid and I haven't been disappointed. In the past I've found mpg computers hopelessly optimistic, but in the C HR it's pretty much bang on. I use the brim to brim method of working out fuel consumption, and so far my worst return was 55mpg (Imperial) and my best has been 62mpg on a long constant 70mph motorway trip, which give or take a few miles, is what the computer says. That's well up on my previous Hyundai ix35 diesel which averaged 45 mpg. Also, in the UK at least, even outside of the new warranty, each time you have it serviced by Toyota, they roll on the warranty another year up to 10 years or 100,000 miles, and it's not expensive. The hybrid system remains under warranty another five years after that. I've got a friend who runs one of these as a taxi and has done over 150,000 and the only issue over and above normal wear and tear, was with the heated seats. Great car

Well done! You have done your homework on this car. My family and I loved this car so much we bought one. We bought a 2019 XLE model in metallic blue with a white top and it looks amazing! You get a lot of style for the money, amazing safety features as you mentioned, and all wrapped up in that legendary Toyota quality. We have a family of 3 and the size is perfect. Everyone fits fine in the car with room for groceries and the car itself is small and nimble enough to make it fun to get around in. It may not be a sports car but it is sporty. I am replacing a manual transmission car I have been driving for almost 20 years with this C-HR but I have to say, the automatic CVT transmission is pretty good and the option to manual shift is nice. It does not replace the feel of a clutch and stick but it is nice to have it as an option to break up the driving experience a bit and I also like the g-monitor to measure g forces. What a lot of people don't mention is that Toyota also offers some great first party, after market performance parts for the car right from the dealer. I installed a TRD Air Intake Kit for more torque and horsepower and I do feel the difference. I also installed a Tornado Air unit, not from Toyota, to further squeeze more power form the engine. I will be installing some TRD Lowering Springs to make the car handle even better as well as improving the stance of the car by lowing it about an inch. In my opinion, the original exhaust pipe looks pretty pathetic for such a sporty looking car. Not wanting to void my warranty, I also installed a dual-head, chromed exhaust tip which greatly improves the look of the car form the back. This is how the car should have came from the factory. We got the car because it was the perfect car for us but I am seeing more of them here in So Cal. I'm glad to see you know it was fine tuned on the Nurburgring but did you also know it was designed in Toyota's CA design studio? Again, well done. We love the car. Subscribed.

Very good review! It's crazy but I actually love the design of this vehicle. While some car "experts" might rant about "better subcompact SUVs" available at the same price, they all tend to look the same basic design with only a few differences on the grill or rear. This was designed to look unique while offering a comfortable ride with Toyota's latest Safety Sense features. My only problem is finding a good deal in the era of chip shortages due to a pandemic. I live in the Silicon Valley and its a pain trying to find one in stock between San Francisco and San Jose. One dealership called to tell me that they have one available -- but its not even on the boat yet in Japan (and wouldn't be here until May)!

I have the 2018 C-HR, same color, I LOVE it! Looks like the upgraded a few things in the 2019 but still very similar. She's the Best car I have ever had! It drives great on trips, comfortable, great gas mileage and it's a sexy car! It feels to me like it has a little get up and go but not enough to get me into trouble with to many speeding tickets. Very roomy inside for passengers, as well as hauling things in the back with the seats down. I give the C-HR ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 👍👍

My wife loves the look of this car and I do too. However, my main concern is for her safety more than anything. Not saying this vehicle isn't safe. Just concerned on the visibilty aspect. My wife is so used to driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla that it just worries me that she will encounter visibility issues while driving a CH-R 18 miles everyday to work. And then there are those reckles drivers out there that you see every now and then which is where the lack of visibilty concerns me. Not sure if a Corolla, a Honda Civic, a Kia Soul or Sportage would be a better option for her as far as them being easier to drive. What is your opinion on this?? Thanks.

This is my car (Pearl White) and I love it. Defrost could work a little quicker (Canada), but it's great. It's got no jump, but that just makes it a challenge. Drives nice and the sightlines are fine.

I have the blizzard pearl also. I test drove a 2019 RAV4 Hybrid yesterday. Doesn’t drive as smooth as my CH-R. And it doesn’t have navigation built in it either. So looks like I’m keeping my CH-R until the Rav4 Hybrid comes with navigation. One thing I must say the Ch-R is a head turner. I’ve noticed people walking all around my car looking at it. And I’ve seen some even take pictures. It looks like a toy. I love it!!!

Bring back the XB and give it a modern interior without the gauge cluster in the middle of the dash . The C HR was designed to be the next Scion but Scion got the ax . This thing looks like style over function which I don’t think would have fit well with the Scion brand anyway . Wife and I have an ‘08 Scion XD with 171000 miles . Love it

I like how it curves, and hight dominant drive position of driver, spacious and large in the front sits. Very reliable and superior quality. I’m satisfy.

Actually, in the US and Canada, the C-HR got an old engine. C-HR's in the rest of the world got the new high compression engine (with hybrid AWD option) that's in the Corolla and the Lexus UX200 in the US and Canada. The C-HR in the US and Canada was supposed to be a Scion model. If you take the Lexus badge off, you can see that the UX200 is more of a mini RAV-4 than the C-HR, especially in profile with the squared out wheel wells.
