2019 Rogue Invitational | The Mule - Full Live Stream

Спорт

Complete, official live stream of the second event from the 2019 Rogue Invitational in Columbus, OH: “The Mule.” This CrossFit classic features a 21-15-9 rep breakdown of both deadlifts (315 LBS for men, 225 LBS for women) and burpee pull-ups with a 12 minute time cap.
In the men’s individual Mule, Games hopeful Chandler Smith makes a major statement, while Patrick Vellner and Mat Fraser have another memorable showdown in the second heat. In the women’s event, up-and-comer Dani Speegle and legend Annie Thorisdottir both shine, and in the team comp, CrossFit OC3 again shows they're ready to put Mayhem Freedom on notice.

  • @rockrebel96

    You're right, the traditonal Burpee is dropping down into a proper pushup and coming back up into a vertical jump. In CrossFit though, there are kipping (momentum based) alternatives to (almost) every gymnastic movement, especially when it comes to competitions. That is because the competitions are mostly about moving as much weight as possible in the shortest possible amount of time. Hence the "CrossFit Burpee" with the "Kipping Pushup" (don't get confused, there is no actual Kipping Pushup in CrossFit!) at the bottom.

    Man look its a race most people see exercise as something for aesthetics, rehab, strength and/or any other purposes you can think of. But once someone changes exercise into a task that you have to do as fast as possible with holding simple standards and place a cash prize at the end of that task. Those same exercises may look very different. That is what everyone needs to understand it is a race. The standards are simple for the competitors to move fast not perfect. Deadlift standards are for lock out. The competitor's shoulders must be behind bar while legs and hips are fully extended. Dont bounce the bar like a basketball off the ground meaning no visible and deliberate bend in the elbow as you are about to contact the ground. But if the elbows bend after contacting the ground that is still a rep because that means the competitor is letting their hips go and not controlling the downward/ eccentric part of movement. The weight is controlling the downward/ eccentric part of the movement which causes the elbows to bend to look like they are bouncing weight. Now for the burpee pull up standards for the burpee chest must contact the ground stand up fully extended. Pull up for this event chin must clear the bar anyway (strict, jump into it, or use you legs and hips to shoot you up up aka kipping). So remember this is a race not a fitness stage competition. Nothing needs to be perfect just uphold the standards while you are moving fast and you may win a nice paycheck.

There's no point in judging a sport by external standards. The pull-ups in Crossfit competitions aren't a test of strength, they're a test of work capacity.

    @kblkbl

    @@VoodooChild2000 The name won't change for the same reason a clean is still a clean, regardless of being a muscle clean, power clean or a full clean. A kipping pull up or a butterfly pull up are still pull ups, regardless of your intransigence. A pull up is determined by pulling yourself so that your chin goes over the bar. A strict pull up is the king of upper body strength exercises. Not all pull ups need to be strict, just like not all cleans need to be muscle cleans. If I tell you to squat, you can squat, you can perform a half squat, a quarter squat, a pistol squat, a sumo squat, a goblet squat, a back squat, a front squat, an overhead squat. In regards to the deadlifts, I agree, bouncing deadlifts is something that's wrong, even by Crossfit standards, but that's normalized and passes unchecked. You can perform touch and go reps without a full stop and without bouncing. What they're doing is wrong. Not because I say so or because you feel superior in comparison to these dudes, but because it's against the rules of their competition. Powerlifting squats that barely break parellel won't all of a sudden become "cheating" just because I think squats should be ATG.
