Rogue Iron Game - Ep. 17 / Split Triplet - Individual Men Event 7 - 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games

Спорт

Complete coverage of Event 7 ("Split Triplet") of the Men's Individual Competition from the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin. The video begins with Episode 17 of Rogue Iron Game, as the studio crew re-caps the Women's Split Triplet and the clutch performances of Tia-Clair Toomey and Katrin Davidsdottir. A preview of the Men's Event then leads into the event itself at the 7-minute mark. With only 10 athletes remaining and Noah Ohlsen holding the overall lead, 3x defending champ Mat Fraser needs a strong effort to re-assert his dominance heading into the stretch run.
The Split Triplet includes 5 rounds of:
1 pegboard ascent
100 double-unders
10 DB hang split snatches (80 lb.)
10 DB hang clean and jerks (80 lb.)
(Time cap: 20 minutes)

Ohlsen's judge was very lenient, both Fraser and Gudmundsson were getting no reps for the wrong split stance but i seen at least 2 occasions where Ohlsen wasn't called out for the same thing.

Hold on.. Ohlsen's judge should of counted his 5th round clean and jerk presses as no reps.. He was only moving 1 foot backward.

The splits are so aggressive, I think they got to 10 too fast. The split events have prioritised smaller, gymnast-y athletes and runners. Fewer power beasts this year, especially in the women’s cut. Would have been great to have the clean event before the cut.

Complaining about gymnasts in crossfit is like complaining about tall dudes in basketball. The sport is based around rings and chin up bars of course the gymnasts will rise to the top but I do agree they made the cuts before any power events which kicked a couple of the top women too soon

In terms of finding the ''fittest on earth'', i don't think the cuts help this cause... especially with the events were seeing in the first 2 days.. hardly varied... I'm seeing people in day three that people who have been cut would smoke in these events and climb back up the leader board.. Not a true fittest on earth test overall imo.

  • @NeroVuk

    @NeroVuk

    4 жыл бұрын

@@LiftRunFight he really wasn't using crossfit terminology that much, lol The title that the winner of the crossfit games gets is "fittest on earth", crossfit being a sport with many various tests of strength, endurance and overall fitness claims that the best crossfitter is the fittest athlete in the world (as if decathlons are not a thing, since like ancient Greece) And cuts refers to the fact that basically after each day (I think) a percentage of the athletes participating in the crossfit games was knocked out of the competition. I for one agree with OPs criticism of the format, Brent Fikowski's placement is pretty much proof that it's a flawed system, lol.

  • @jeremyneilsen1263

@@LiftRunFight The first few events that involved cuts in this years games weren't too varied. They were all fairly generic and cardio based, so a lot of top athletes who are consistent got eliminated. I think if they got to stick around and do all the events we would see a very different top 10. Which is kind of the whole point of the games. Many tests determine the most consistent athletes. Creating cuts only hinders this process in my opinion... but yeah just my opinion.

Also, it seems as though I just find a video of just the Men or the women in particular events, not both.

7 events in and all the athletes cut and has been no heavy barbells and no real barbell cycling. Is crossfit headquarters trying to kill the games? This is pathetic. Maybe time for CF Headquarters to give the games to the community... or at least get rid of Castro.

People whining about this is not the way games should be, the cuts wasn't a good idea... bla bla bla.... if you have watch the games documentaries you have seen when fraser lost in the sprints one year, and then he won the one next year, why? No because the programming was different, he saw a weakness and work on it. Some athletes are use to sacrifice some events because they know they are really good at others and they can make up for it in the points distribution. Well I don't think that will be good enough for the games anymore.
