Yes everyone in the comments is correct. The O-ring goes inside the metal piece where the tiny groove is. The zip tie is for holding the leather boot to the lockout. If you don't put the o-ring inside the lockout it will make noise. I recommend also adding a little bit of grease inside the lockout.

Dude i feel you on the bezel. Cj pony parts made it look way to easy. I actually broke my bezel getting it out the second time. Had to super glue it back together lol.

use the zipe tie to attach the leather back, and the oring on the shifter rod.

Lol mine has been rattling too

The center console needs to be disassembled in order to properly remove the shift boot without breaking the clips on the trim SMH

That O ring goes inside the lockout, not for holding the boot in place.

Yeah. I haven't gone back and fixed it. It rattles sometimes lol
