You guys do a great job with these videos. Might I suggest before prying the 2 piece apart and before pulling the leather from the ring, just heat it up with a heat gun on a low setting or even use a hair dryer. I have found over the years it helps release the adhesion and makes for an easier disassembly with very little chance at added damage.
Awesome was looking for something to replace that chrome! Haven't had a problem with the reverse lockout yet except for installing a new shift knob but that was because I screwed it down to low.
Man.. used red locktite. That’s on there for good!
Nice fix!
I just wanted my stock chrome one to be black but upgrading is a plus
i bought my mustang summer 2016 and 3 months later that plastic piece brook in half. I bought this as a replacement. This metal piece should be standard in all mustangs. that plastic piece didn't last long enough to my 1st oil change.
I broke two of the three tabs on the white part that connects to the reverse lockout collar, so now I can't go in reverse if I put the shift boot back on. What's the name of that white piece and where can I find a replacement? I have the stock shifter.
Any issues using this with the Steeda Tri-Ax Short Throw Shifter, part # 555-7316??
i broke one of the arms on the retainer that holds the reverse lockout in place . anyway to find that part online somehwere?
Will this work with the Ford racing short throw shifter since it uses alot of the stock components ??
Can you use thus for the Ford Focus ST
is there a similar issue like this on the ford focus st?
Is this the same part that they use on the focus ST?
Hey bill will the GT 350 knob fit with this?
Would this happen to fit a mk3 focus RS?
I lost the white ring. Can I get a replacement?
would this fit a fiesta st?
Hey Bill, I did the switch but when applying the loc tite, I guess it went down into the shifter so when the next day when i first get into the car its a little bit stuck and when i put i go from reverse to first gear i have to use a little bit of force to pull the collar down. Will that go away after some time or will I have to disassemble , clean it up then reapply it?

Currently cleaning mine from the exact same issue
so, what happens if you lose that white ring, is it even possible to get another one somewhere? lol. i may have done that putting on my steeda lockout collar....

Marc S did you figure out what to do? Can’t find it anywhere! I just lost the piece
Do you guys know how to remove an already installed barton pull up collar from the barton hybrid 3? Do you just pull up on it?

I used a very small screwdriver on the edge to release it, the fitment on the Barton is much tighter than the factory so it can be challenging to remove.
i bought one and now the car is hard to shift into 2nd gear
Can you do a video how to take off loctite

Agreed. If he ever needs to replace the reverse lockout again he's going to have a hell of a time getting the shift knob off. How do I know? The previous owner of my vehicle used loctite on the shift knob and I'm currently struggling to get it off to replace a broken reverse lockout. Been at it for two days now. Word of advice to anyone watching this...DON'T USE LOCTITE!!!!

Especially that "Red Loctite". I used "Blue" on a stainless shift knob I had installed and could not apply enough torque to break it off. Loctite has different temperature ratings for holding strength depending on the color you use. I ended heating mine up using a heat gun to weaken the thread lock and eventually I was able to twist off by hand.
Will this work with the steeda tri ax?

I would suggest getting the Steeda version for the tri ax.
Y’all have anything for the GT350?

They do not make a specific one but you can shave this down or open up the knob a bit.

@@cjponyparts thank you so much. I’m about to order one right now
Will these work with 2018 GT350?
@cjponyparts
5 жыл бұрын
Anders Madsen they will not without modification, you need to grind it down a little thinner to work with the GT350 knob.
the problem I keep having is when shifting into 5th, the lock out sounds like it grinds against the gate and sounds horrible. have you heard of this, bill?

Gatorsrok well damn it. I took it to a dealer and they could not replicate and they kept it for 3 days. meanwhile the guy made too many jokes about during burnouts and I noticed about half a tank was gone..... should I try to go to another dealer?

I would... definitely

Gatorsrok ok, based off of your recommendation, I will do that
“Be careful because that piece is actually pretty easy to break.” Seconds later...I broke it.🙄

You just put RED loctite on those shifter threads. You never get that knob off ever again.

It's not actually red, if you look at the bottle it's coming from, it's a blue bottle. Not all manufacturers of threadlocker are the same in terms of color or consistency, but what is usually consistent is the rating of the adhesion, which is where the color labels come from.
Why red loctite instead of blue?

+josh dixon Use whichever you prefer, i have had the knob come loose on my personal car with blue but it depends on how you drive.

+Bill Tumas I forgot to ask, did you use loctite 262? Or 271? Thanks!
