    Thor literally had a perfect throw on the last keg, inching over as it spun end over end. Its physically impossible to throw the last keg better than that. If you go back and do the split times for the other 7 kegs, they basically matched. Shaw got to keg 8 at 13.10, Thor at 13.45 but that extra .59 of air time cost him the race.

    Shaw kinda got screwed on the keg toss for being too strong. He was actually faster than Thor as far as clearing the height but the time it took for the keg to hit the ground made the difference. Wouldn't have really mattered point wise in the final standings but definitely could have been a mental blow that may have affected him.

    RJ you must not have even watched the contest because this was nowhere near domination. Thor lost by litterally 0.5 points or 0.5 seconds or 1 rep. No matter how you look at it Thor has achieved WAY more then Eddie ever has. Thor has been Top 3 like 5 times and Eddie afaik only the year he won. Thor was Also plauged by injuries alot between 13-17 and acting on GoT for big parts of those years which gives him a direct disadvantage. Brian and Z are ofc better then Thor overall but Eddie has Done 2 big things hos entire career. WSM Winner + 500kg deadlift which thor crushed so hard Eddie wet his pants. Hafthor Bjornsson would have easily won if any one of the following happened: 1) He wore a squat suit, and got just 1 extra rep. 2) Savickas did not try for his 15th squat, leaving him tied for that event. 3) Savickas got called for throwing his kegs out of order (the 3rd cleared before the 2nd). During the qualifiers, he looked the strongest, and was my pick to win. Maybe his inexperience (compared to Savickas, at least) cost him the win this year, but I am sure he will win very soon. Brian Shaw didn't show professional attitude in qualifying round and his vanity led to underestimating other strongmen. He deadlifted for only 6 reps thinking that no one could do further reps but amazingly the Austrian strongmen did 7 reps ! After making sure that he'd advanced to the finals he humiliated other strongmen and disrespected the audience by not even attempting Atlas stones... As Brian said himself normally he doesn't claim that his record is unbeatable... He did this time and ironically Hafthor improved his time in Keg Toss ! Pride comes before the fall....thus he placed 3rd and lost his title.

    ridiculous comment really, try it yourself to lift those stones or those deadlifts and you wouldn't write something like that again. Why should Brian Shaw make all 7 deadlifts if he doesnt need them, in every such heavy lifts they risk injuries. It's such a dangerous sport. And this final was crazy, so strong top3 competitors. Brian Shaw knew that he has to save energy to be able to win against Bjornsson and Savickas. And his keg toss was extremely good, he couldnt know that Bjornsson is that good...

    hafthor is probably one of the most strongest overall amongst all the strongman athletes ever competed but he only managed to win the title once. it is actually upsetting for him. in his talk after he won wsm 2018, he says "i started to think am i never gonna win the title, am i a failure". he made to the podium every year except his debut in 2011. he was in the podium consecutively in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 i mean maan if that doesn't show the overall strength, i don't know what else does? i am a big fan of him, i also like brian shaw but he is so ambitious you can always see the envy towards his competitors especially hafthor. on the other hand big z is a great example of sportsmanship.

    Something went wrong with the sound in this video. I made a comparison video with Shaw and Thor next to eachother, starting at the same time and Thor was faster. Also Thor was around 3 seconds faster on the stones than Brian, he was always going to be faster. Although if Brian had done the stones a little faster Thor would have been the champion because that would put Z at 3rd place in the stones.

    If you watch Mike Burke & Brian Shaw do the stones, when Burke slams his first stone into the podium and loses it, Shaw is distracted from the second stone just long enough to bump him down into 3rd ,, that is why you could see in his face at the end he was unhappy with his result & looks like he knows he could have gone faster,, just saying.

  • @dochatteras

    @dochatteras

    I agree, but handling distractions is part of the game. There are a ton of emotions for everyone involved. As professionals, they have to get used to cameras, crowds, judges, weather, etc. All of those are the variables that will greatly influence the outcome. But everyone has to get in "the zone", and just get to work.

    Wodinn If you watch the video starting at 38:20 you can see that Brian Shaw hesitates and turns his head away from what he is doing, I believe he does this because he is concerned for his safety as the ball that Burke has dropped is rolling around. This also throws off the fluidity for the rest of his run.
