Most of you might not know but Thor was a Static Monster from a young age: I have seen footage of his Deadlifting at the Jakabol: 300 kg at 20y, 300 for 10 reps at 22, 400 at 23 etc. (All raw/ wrist wraps only), but the static game was a bit too much for him specially here until 2017 which he transformed those losses into his fuel. Then he met Sebastian Oreb, his strength coach and the rest is history. He never lost a single competition since the 2017 WSM until his retirement and the only time he was dropped to 3rd place was due to his torn plantar fascia injury at 2019 WSM. The main reason for that dominance is because he took his Brute Strength to the next level and in doing so he not only became the most overall peak Strongman in history but also went on to become the Strongest Man to have ever lived!

He lost once by 0.5 points (this video), once by 1 point(2017) and once by 2 points(2016) while winning in 2018 by 6.5 points (plus, he was chilling in the stones and could have won by over 10 points if he did his best). You can't blame a loss on what the other guys did, but twice he would have won with one more rep of a squat. And once he would have won if he had been the fastest in a throwing event which he usually is lightning fast in. Also, in 2019 he was 100% the strongest but injured his foot dropping a ton of points in the loading medley that he usually smokes and also beeing a bit slower and dropping points in a press medley and stones. The number of podiums, and especially close 2nd places, I think suggests that with just small imporvements in preparation(no knee wraps in this video, I bet that if he used knee wraps he would have gotten one more rep and won this title), a bit better luck with event selections and no injury in 2019 he could have had 4 WSM titles.
