Cannot believe Lalas is only 5'10'' at 320 lb. Being a "little'' guy among the strongmen, he wins my respect. The power stair is too hard for him. Maybe, I mean maybe he should wear some lift in the shoes on this event. In deadlift you want to take off your shoes. But in power stairs, it seems to me bending down is not the problem here.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him bow out in the next year or 2 and concentrate on the masters strongman.
@aedanman11 жыл бұрын
Well ronnie coleman used to bench 225kg, deadlift 365kg and squat 350kg... for reps. They don't do it all the time because it leads to injury and the can achieve same results without going so heavy, but that is not to say they aren't capable of it. If you don't think that those weights are heavy, there is something wrong. They aren't as strong as the strongmen who train directly for strength but they are very strong especially compared to your average joe.

Hapthor is for sure a guy to WATCH. He is the youngest ever on the podium. 23 years old! 6'9" 400+, this year got chiseled down to a lean 385 pounds, and is STILL getting stronger. Most strength athletes can continue to get stronger into their 30's, giant has insane potential.

It's crazy to think in 2012 the yoke was 975lbs, now it's 1400-1500lbs
You think they would have weighted the tables on the stone loading to stop them from flopping around.
Love the respect Z has for Kaz! Great comp.
Does....does Zavickas realize he's talking to Kasmaier at the end? Lol....even Kasmaier refers to himself in the 3rd person...haha

@3:06 lol is Mike Jenkins slowly evolving into Jerry Pritchett, or am I stoned as fuck?
Krzysztof Radzikowski is very good strongman
The slow motion replay of Z's 220kg lift was the 210kg lift!
Thanks for the upload.

awesome! thanks for the upload brah
in case the finals didnt broadcast on espn, i'm just glad to watch this, hope it stays.
Thanks!

Thank you for the upload and congrats to the Big Z for the third time!! :D can anyone tell me the name of the song at the end please? :)
There have also been some lean ones Like Mariusz, Derek Poundstone and more.
When the organisers bring out new events in the final it really catches out some competitors
tanks
Do you by any chance also have the heats that you could upload ?
I agree
ich freu mich schon auf den diesjährigen Wettkampf!!!
zydrunas savickas the best
I am really impressed by young Hafthor performance, with some improvements he could have been world's strongest man by then

awesome. I wish I was that big
Very cool thanks for posting this vid
I was really impressed with caron in his qualifying heat but he just couldnt produce in this final. I wonder if poundstone would have been blasted also.
God what a shame about Jenkins, his potential was incredible, I honestly thought he was gonna lock out that 220kg log. RIP
Great Champion!
True!! However, it is at the same time the cool thing about strongman competitions - the fact that there are no weight classes etc. It's all simply about finding the strongest person of the human race.
I have to come back from time to time just to cheer for Lalas holding it up for us short Guys :)

I contacted ESPN with an angry email (and also called) and they gave the total bogus response that since the one football game just ended they went to Sports Center. They couldn't wait just 5 minutes for a recap show?? Ridiculous. Thanks for uploading the program to see the ending!
Colin Bryce is both the umpire and the referee, often talking over his own commentary. Therefore he immediately gets into the ventriloquist hall of fame.
Zydrunas proved he's the best, last year he simply made too many mistakes in the final. Hafthor is the man of the future in this sport though. Only 23 and already third strongest man, impressive!
that Lalas such a BEAST!
I really wish that Jim guy that came in on the power stairs just started goin ham and getting it up each step 2 seconds at a time

WSM has always favored taller athletes, but you don't have to be 6'3" or above to win. Bill Kazmaier was 6'2" in his prime, Mariusz Pudzianowski is 6'0" and Eddie Hall is 6'1".

Yes, those are big bellies. But you would be surprised to find some 4 to 6 pecs on those bellies. To name a few, Mariusz Pudzianowski and Derek Poundstone. Both are top of the line strongmen, though not competing in the 2012 final.
WOW you read my thoughts i've been looking for this shit! THANK YOU SIR!
It's a shame that heights make such a big difference in specific events whether it's being taller and having to lift weights higher, or being shorter and having a disadvantage on stairs, keg throwing etc.
Everything is in KG on all WSM events so why is yoke only thing that has actual pounds displayed??
RIP Mike Jenkins
The last event was unfair for Lalas.

WelkinAtDusk it’s not unfair. He was aware of his size before entering the competition. How about the guys who are 6’8” having to lift the log much higher than others. A challenge yes, unfair, no way. That’s what makes it exciting . Brute strength and overcome adversity. The guy is built like a Dodge Ram 3500

@paulharper4196

Big z isn't on top anymore, or even number 2 now. He's top 10 at best on a good day. Don't get me wrong he is a legend of the sport and in my opinion probably the best strength athlete that's ever lived, but you can't be the best forever and his star is definitely fading. I wouldn't be surprised to see him bow out in the next year or 2 and concentrate on the masters strongman.
Why does he keep saying saviskiss when it's Savickas?
