Ended up on my recommended today while working, ended up having 3hrs of these videos play in the background today. This is wholesome broadcasting and I loved the energy, actually just got back from a candlepin lane down the road from me. Wanted to see how I stacked up to these pros from 30 years ago. Averaged around 84 with absolutely no practice, might take this up as a hobby and find a league up here in MA. Thank you so much for the content.

Wolfman, I think it'dve been a cool thing for the winner of the True Value Candlepin Bowling Championship to face the winner of, from Canada, the ATV Mens Candlepin Bowling Championship. It would end up being a 2 match(3 games per match), total points affair, happening both here at Pilgrim Lanes for Match 1, and then move to Sackville, Nova Scotia, Canada at the Sackville Superbowl for Match 2. Both the U.S. and Canadian ends would be live broadcasts on both WCVB in the Boston area(with stations in the other 5 New England states joining in), as well as across the Maritimes on ATV, as it would be a joint broadcast with the same commercials seen in both countries. The announcer booth would have 4 men in it as well....Don Gillis and Ed Harding from WCVB, and both Bruce Stephen and Paul Mennier(MEN-Yay) from ATV. The guarantees for the 2 bowlers would be $50,000 to the champion, and $25,000 to the runner up(players' native currency used for prizing to avoid conversion and tax complications). Would you have watched something like that? XB

Just like the best candlepin bowlers, throwing it fairly hard, up the middle and straight gives you the best chance.

Meanwhile here in the future, when the new C8 Corvette came out in 2020, the base model was $59,000 and nobody who actually bought one got it for less than about $70,000 with the options and the COVID shortage markup.

Such an unfair tournament. Should have had brackets rather than winner moves up. Imagine if O'Brien won string 1 & 2 and then had to play a 3rd string, tired from the previous matches, against a completely fresh opponent. I'd rather seem them complete at their best at an even playing field.

Step ladder finals is very common in bowling. The other thing you are not taking into account is that bowling is not very exhausting. Moreover, the challenger is already dialed while the opponent has to acclimated to the lane.

They did the bracket format from 1983 until 1990, and then went to the stepladder format in 1991 onward. From what it sounds like, they went this way to basically make it more rewarding for the #2 and #3 placed seeds to at least be guaranteed a certain payday, where as in the bracket format in the previous Championship shows, the #2 seed bowlers ended up getting eliminated by the #5 seed in the first match 6 out of 8 times (1983 and 1988 were the only times that the #2 seed beat the #5 seed to advance), causing them to get the short end of the stick even though they qualified almost higher than everyone else. And technically, the stepladder format only made the #4 or #5 seed bowl one more game to win it all if you think about it.
