    Jon Pall getting that last barrel, flexing mid way than sprinting to the finish line was unbelievable , one of a kind. RIP Viking

    I think it was fair to ask him not to bounce the weight. Before the pull Jan pushed down aggressively and used the recoil in the way up.

    The refereeing in the boat lift seemed suspect. JP`s back was straight and he didn`t drop the boat any less than the French guy. I`m surprised JP got an invite after he won the title the 1st time!!!!!

    @speedy692 Capes lifted the boat legally. He also explained the rules to JP and vouched for him and allowed him to continue in the competition. Capes could have sided with the referee and disqualified JP on the first lift. He didn't.

    British people are weird. "On your mark. Get set. Go!" is an evenly spaced countdown like "2, 1, Go!". "On your marks and get set........Go!" is an evenly spaced countdown like "2, 1.75, go!"

    They really messed up the truck pull in the first even where it seems to have been a decline and it was more a question of who can pull the rope the fastest rather than strength.

    Why was it not held in 1987?

  • @grahamgill9685

    @grahamgill9685

    2 жыл бұрын

    This is what it says on Wikipedia: In 1987, the WSM was not held for the only time since its inception. In that year, the first and only non-team Pure Strength competition was held, but it was not part of the WSM franchise, Pure Strength then became a 2-man team event '88 through '90 when it stopped. Additional info: Jon Pall Sigmarsson won Pure Strength '87, winning 8 of 10 events. Bill Kazmaier 2nd, Jeff Capes 3rd.

    Thanks, I read that too. But that doesn’t explain why WSM fell behind.

  • @grahamgill9685

    Scheduling would be my only guess. Getting those 3 to the UK to compete in Pure Strength, then home, then of course recovery time, time to retrain to top form again, and other commitments of their personal time likely ended the possibility. Hard to say. But I think we can agree that a 1980's version WSM without Jon Pall, Bill, and Jeff would have been largely pointless.
