Gotta love how no one is allowed to mention Bill (Kazmaier) at all, these events would’ve suited him incredibly well too

Geoff Capes was criminally underrated. He won his championships at older ages against Jon Pal in his prime. It's amazing how even he made it with Sigmarsson given he was 11 years older than Jon. Still the 1983 WSM should have been called "the world's second strongest" man contest. They gave Bill Kazmaier a ban for being too dominant.

I was born in Christchurch 20 years later after this happened, it's honestly so weird seeing the city of mine that I grew up in as my hometown look intact before the Earthquakes 27 years later after this. Thanks, Thank You So Much for uploading this.

Kazmaier wasn't invited to this event because he was too dominant. Had he been invited he would have won again.

Despite there being no Kaz, this is a great year between the events and competitors. Tom Magee was in great shape, and Simon Wulfse had beaten both Geoff and Jon Pall in Europes. Sigmarsson was still coming into his own, but how incredible is Geoff Capes to best these guys whom really what is a second athletic career for him.

What a great event...! Thanks for uploading! I think the problem Tom Magee had in the final lorry loading was that he ran too hard in the back of the truck. At the first time he bounced off pretty strong, you can see it at 51:34 and he repeated this again. Maybe that knocked the wind out off him, the hard strikes in the chest...

He is basically saying Satan= devil. But he is meaning it more as a curse word in Icelandic for getting himself angry and worked up, but no one uses it today. Today we would use helvítis= hell. But we are not meaning it for biblical reasons.
