I always wondered how were designed the stamps and visas of my country (Italy) back in the 50's and 60's. Cool video

However only spain and portugal at the time needed a visa. Italians, germans, french, etc usually only got a stamp on the passport. In the 70s it was a rare event a stamp that occurred only if you asked for it. Today I have to fight to gain a stamp in the passport at those few borders remained... sad story

Interesting, I wonder if this was related to the politics at the time. Stamping rules in Europe has always been a mess and with little to no documents left we can only rely on limited resources such as these old passports. Collecting stamps is getting harder nowadays, with more and more countries using electronic systems instead of leaving paper trails. I do have an old Italian passport, haven't got the time to look into it.

Same Portuguese Passport of my father i have of 1964.

Unfortunately my father never traveled still it looks that just issued.
