Still promoting the lie that high calories are bad. People should focus on nutrients, not calories. High calorie food that are nutritious is really good for the body and doesn't have to be restricted.

Rubbish. That's why people get fat. Avocados are super foods but high in calories. If u ate 10 a day you would put on weight even though they are healthy. If you refuse to care or look at calories you are going to get fat. This video is very helpful. Healthy fats and foods yes are good but you need to focus on your daily calorie intake!!! This video was not telling you not to eat these foods but to be cautious because so called healthy foods can be loaded with fat or added sugar! Fresh fruit is healthier and better than dried fruit

  • @parisbrice389

    @parisbrice389

Because dried fruit is a tiny portion but concentrated sugar! So go for fresh fruit. Nuts are good for you yes eat them, but they are high in fat so limit how many you eat!! Don't think you can eat what you want if its healthy because too much of these foods can make you fat because of their high calorie intake. So keep track of your quantity of these foods and be aware of what's really in your food. Scientific fact!!!......If you consume more calories a day then you burn off you will put on weight!! Even if those calories are coming from super healthy foods! So yes eat healthy! But you still need to be aware of the calories. Thankyou heidi for these reminders. I'm a qualified fitness instructor and this is spot on

Heidi, I recently discovered you and subscribed. I agree with each and everything you just said. I’m Middle Eastern and back home we have something called Labaneh which is better than the Greek yogurt you typically get in American grocery stores. You can find it at the Middle Eastern grocery stores, it is pure homemade yogurt without any additives. I tried the Greek yogurt because I thought it was the same as the real deal but it’s not even what the Greeks eat, it tasted so gross. The only protein shake I drink is from a guy who owns a store and both husband and wife compete and I trust his sources, he’s honest. I’ve stopped going to GNC kind of places, unless it’s absolutely necessary and I know exactly what to get. Regardless, thank you for posting this video, it’s been reassuring and very helpful.

It depends what kind of dried fruit you buy. The ones in packages have added sugar, preservatives and sometimes even syrup. If you dry your own fruit or buy loose dry fruit it's not that bad. Just eat 3 every now and then. Ofcourse nothing beats fresh fruit.

How about my favorite salad dressing: Good Seasons Italian dressing mix? You make it yourself; there is even the recipe hack to make your own seasoning mix (so it's even more healthier). You still have to be careful with the oil that makes up the dressing, but a couple spoons of this for your fat, and I load on the red wine vinegar (in addition) makes it ok?

Is that considered healthy, because it seems like it is. I also have a few questions about brands too. Nature valley granola bars, Larabars, Cliff nut bars, silk non dairy products, hippeas puffs, are those healthy products?

Ok, but I am a big fan of sushi. Actually we have a sushi bar in our hometown grocery store, and it does have the simple rice with raw fish, but they also have the rolls with seaweed, whole grain rice, raw salmon/fish, carrots, cucumber, and avocado. Which are the ones I get because I do not eat dairy. but I am also gluten free so I don't use soy sauce, I also don't really like the salty taste of it either though.

your so funny Heidi lol elephantiasis is actually from a tropical based parasite that causes extreme swelling and water retention and eventually scaring since the swelling becomes uncontrolled. what you thinking about is called lymph edema. now that one is water rention that gets worse and worse from people consuming sodium, or trans fats, all the really bad stuff. Usually, diabetics end up with lymphedema but It can also occur in the arms from breast cancer too. Im not a doctor but I did study a ton over the years in school for healthcare and I read a ton! :) you're so funny though I laughed when you said elephantiasis. Anthony Hopkins did a movie about the disease. and there are scales from 1-5 for the severity too. mosquitoes are one of the bugs that can cause it.

I remember when granola first hit the market. From the beginning (the first product was cereal), it was sold as a health food and a substitute for sweeter, and less healthy breakfasts. Then as people stopped buying the cereal, then came the other products. The "bars" that we see are not even real granola anymore - still sold as something healthy to eat.

    1. I make my own granola 2. I don't like protein bars 3.I don't normally use dried fruit unless I do it myself. 4. Fruit juice is rough. I like to juice my own. 5.I don't have a gluten problem so I'm not on the band wagon for that. 6. I do like salads though especially in the summer, you don't need to cook it. 7. Unless its sashimi then yeah sushi is not that healthy. 8.I love yogurt. Icelantic is good. 9. I no longer do microwave popcorn. Well I get the seeds and the bowl that you can get from Walmart. No salt no butter, usually a little hot sauce. 10. I love a pickle! Yeah a lot of sodium. 11. I make my own protein shakes. Its too expensive to have someone make it for me.

So you can eat salad, without the dressing. This wouldn't be a weight gainer . Pretty sure on that. Please comment if i'm wrong.

Pickle guilty! But I have LOW blood pressure and am told to consume salt. Hmmm...maybe it's making me bloat though. :(

Try a bowl of oats for complex carbs, blueberries for simple sugars, eggs maybe like 2-3, some coffee with coconut oil. Cheap yet hits all your needs.

Can you talk about the different types of protein powders that are best to use when making a smoothie. I use organic NON sweetened pea powder. Also, when eating Greek Yogurt for breakfast is it okay to add a tiny bit of honey? I'm really watching my sugar intake but don't want to use stevia drops in my yogurt.

Honey is lower glycemic than regular sugar but it still causes an insulin spike which signals body to retain fat. I would stick with stevia or erithrytol or monk fruit sweetener which doesn’t raise insulin levels or blood sugar.

I would keep eating them. if were to take her at her word then the entirety of Japan should be full of nothing but obese people if these foods are "so bad" for you. her advice counts for nothing when her and Chris were selling weight loss purge tea and bulimia 101 on Dr Oz.

The pickles you buy at stores are loaded with salt. You can make your own at home with different vegetables using vinegar and salt and you rinse them before you eat them.

check the ingredients of the coconut yogurt. Honey is fine but make sure it's not the cheap runny honey.

Why the obsession with calories Heidi? I cut sugar and grains, upped my fats and ate more calories than ever before and ended up losing 40lbs of fat and gained muscle. I think your misleading woman. Just feels like an outdated diet science. Ive maintained my weightloss for over two years and im 53 and near menopause.

Get your hormones checked & promise you need hormone replacement including a touch of testosterone. Studies have debunked the myth they are harmful (depends of course on your health history) but they’re truly life changing not only to body but heart, bones & mind.

What exercise are you doing? Is your heart rate up enough and do you include weight lifting? You may have to more closely examine what you're eating and how much. Consider getting a free calorie app. I've been using a Keto app that calculates the ratio of carb/fat/protein, which I've found helpful.

That is a good idea about the 0 fat yogurt than adding the good fats like nuts. I make my own protein shake with unsweetened and unflavored protein than I add 1/2 or 1 banana some strawberry, blueberries, spinach and powder Moringa for energy DELISH! Thanks Heidi.

If you eat an apple a day, that’s fine. But in juices, it’s tricky. You don’t sit down and eat 2 or 3 apples just as a snack, do you? That’s a lot of sugar. When taken into account with everything else you eat, adds up. And all of these small bad choices WILL MAKE YOU FAT.

Those yogurts are full of sugar even with their probiotic cultures. You’re probably better off eating plain Greek yogurt with some berries to sweeten which has more protein and less sugar
