My first real relationship ended a few months ago, after being 7 years together. I honestly thought we were going to grow old together, and it felt like someone died when he left me. He was the only person who really got me, and who I could be comfortable with. And then he suddenly says he doesn’t love me anymore, and hasn’t for some time. I dropped out of my education simply because I hardly got out of bed for a month, and maybe ate every 2 or 3 days, because I couldn’t be bothered to eat. I once went over a week without eating anything at all. People started to get worried and started to come by and knock on the door. I never answered. I didn’t read emails or answer texts or phone calls. Eventually I had to get out of bed, because I had to take on debt to pay my bills. It helped going to work again, but it still feels like I lost a part of myself.

@@roseb.5645 3 months have passed, I feel like I've embraced the numbness. I've lost a piece of myself cuz I can't feel a single emotion even if I want to. You know you're broken when your tears won't fall. The only positive side is that I feel less depressed because I'm trying to focus on myself since the breakup : I got my driving license at first try one week ago, I'm about to do my first tattoo, I'm getting back on track very slowly about bodybuilding and finally at the beginning of September I will try to get back to university. Time is slowly doing the things but those who say that time heals aren't right. The pain and the betrayal will never fade away no matter how many years go by. You just learned to accept it and unfortunately during the process you realize that you've changed in a bad way.

I am hurt too but I found my peace in my religion. So maybe you found it too. But don't be so close about time-healing process. To be honest, I've never been a religious person but recently I tried to pray without even believing that there are some gods somewhere, surprisingly I felt some kind of relief. Ironically I started to pray without any valid reason and just 2 days after, I found out by myself that she cheated. Looks like something or someone opened my eyes. Idk if it's some kind of magic of gods if there's any or it was only a coincidence. But whatever reason behind it I just want to be happy again, which I can't really be since I'm not able to feel anything. But I'm truly thankful that there are people like you that are willing to help others with kind words even if we might not be living on the same continents.

I could call him in the middle of the night if I needed help and he would come, no matter the distance. I just got broken up with, for the first time, after almost 4 years of a relationship that I really really valued. I have to admit that I blame a lot of my emotional issues on the breakup, and I can't help wondering if things could have been different. It sucks, really. I also didn't get into this relationship until I was in my late 20s, so I feel so lost. I still really love him, but I recognize that his mind is made up. I really feel this right now. I got into my first relationship ever at the age of 25 and it went on for 5 years. We broke up this April. I saw a long term future with him. I feel this emptiness in my heart that I haven't felt ever and it's like a a chunk of myself has been taken when he broke up, because he has. When a person was with you for that long and now they're not in your life like that anymore, it really feels like half your life just disappeared. Every little trivial thing reminds me of him now and I break down crying. I really hope that what people say is true and that time does heal eventually, because right now, it's so rough.

@@meganod279 There are lots of reasons people break up without any wrongdoing. In my situation, my ex wasn't in a good mental state for a relationship and had commitment issues. I also know people who break up when things get serious and they realize there are sacrifices for their families that they are not willing to make, or that they have different values, even though they still love each other very much. My breakup was amicable and for that reason, it hurt a lot.

Sometimes love is all you have in common, and yall are incompatible for reasons outside of your control (e.g. principles/future plans don't align, maturity levels, etc.). No hate here, but there are many possibilities to consider.

Going through a break up after 8 years. My first relationship that I got into when I was 19. DIdnt eat for 2 weeks and I stayed up till 4am crying every night for the first 4 months. even called the suicide hotline a couple of times. I would curl up in a ball at work in the bathroom floor and would cry for hourrrsss. These past 2 months I started working on myself and its gotten better. Dont get me wrong I still my best friend and I still have breakdowns here and there but its not as bad as it used to be. It does get better. Just takes time

i remember the day that i knew my ex was going to break up with me, it was valentine’s day and he was staying the night, which would be the last night i was with him. but we had talked about if he still wanted to be with me and it was super confusing so i suggested we just go to bed. but i remember laying there for hours just holding onto him, because i knew that this was the last time that i was going to be able to hold him like that. it was such an awful feeling and that pain is with me everyday still. you feel like your heart is being pulled out of your chest and there is nothing you can do about it.

Why did you do it

I'm here a year after a breakup and it hurts like it was yesterday. I know life goes on but it hurts like hell knowing he left without warning. I've moved forward, have had moments of happiness, good connections, and am healing. I am watching this because I am currently going through a break up. I laugh at work to keep up my "always happy personality", but as soon as I get home I break down. All I do is think about her. My worst breakup was with a guy who had 2 kids. I loved those kids like they were my own, helped raise them for years. We'd discussed what would happen if we ever broke up, and there was a mutual understanding and agreement that I could still be a part of their lives. When we did break up, he changed his mind. Refused to let me speak to them, but would tell me how much they talked about me and that they were asking where I was and he really manipulated me emotionally. It was devastating and heartbreaking and required a LOT of therapy. I haven't been in a relationship since, and this was in 2019. I've dated, but I'm just so guarded and hesitant. I don't think I could date somebody with kids ever again.

That man just threw a burrito that's so aggressive and the most honest one here. I am inspired by him and hope others will also be too.

The worst breakup is when you both know that you're perfect for each other but the situation and condition are forcing you to walk in a different way. not even get a chance to start anything. edit: so many souls who share the same pain. Do believe that what meant for us would forever be ours no matter what.

Yeah , I had to leave him I broke it off even though he meant everything to me . He was making me sad because of someone else . I haven't talked to him in 2 weeks , we would talk everyday. He got me through a lot but I think my mindset is better now . Yes I will always miss him , and I'm glad I was able to put myself over him. I still cry about it a lot but it took a lot of courage to do and I'm proud of myself .

My worst breakup was when my first love and I were having to do a temporary long distance thing because of some financial and work issues. I was sending money back to him while setting up our new home in another state and getting things in order. It turned out he was using the money I was sending to help him to finance a relationship with someone else. He waited until I travelled 1000 miles back to pack him up and move him to tell me he wasn't going to be moving and that he had fallen in love with someone else. He tried to claim he waited to tell me because he thought I deserved to hear it in person but I know the real reason was that he wanted to keep our dog and he knew I'd be bringing him with me for the trip. He was truly a narcissist of the highest order. I was so mad at myself for a long time after because I didn't understand how I could have missed/ignored all the warning signs that were so obvious looking back. Even within the first couple months of our relationship, there were red flags. Moral of the story is to trust your gut and protect your heart because nobody else can!

I Really appreciate the People that felt bad about it. Sometimes it's hard to just initiate the breakup, especially if it was a healthy Relationship and you just feel guilty afterwards.

Anyone going through a break-up needs to understand that it gets easier with time and focus on the future you want for yourself, focusing on that will eventually lead you to a person that will merge into that future vision as a helping hand not the full vision. I'm glad to hear that it is common to have regrets after a breakup. I keep going through the things I would have done differently, but I know that nothing would have changed the outcome.

I think videos like this are great reminders that whatever you're going through there's nothing new under the sun. I've been the jerk/the toxic one, a couple of my exes were quick to get physical, some were into me way more than i was into them and vice versa. People are messy and unpredictable and that keeps things exciting lol. Happy to stay single for a bit.
