Met this girl in my art class, literally fell in LOVE with her. We sat across from each other in that class for a year and a half. Prolly one of the coolest people I have ever met. Amazing smile and everything. I found out that she’s not into girls like that and I was completely devastated, and I began to hate myself for thinking I had a chance with her. I spent a very, very long time pretending I wasn’t heartbroken, and I really appreciate having her as a friend but it’s hard thing to move on from when ur kinda close with that person. I got a short story. My uncle was planning on eloping with his childhood sweetheart. He was forbidden from seeing her in their home town because of stupid family feuds. They reconnected as young adults and were gonna meet each other halfway. She got in a terrible car accident and died. Her family barred him from her funeral and made sure he didn’t see the body. He came to stay at our house and my mom tried to find out where the wake was. When we got there the family had rushed out and my uncle never saw her again. He spent the day in my room crying and playing music she liked. I remember being a kid and not understanding how cruel her family could be and how terrible it must be to love someone and lose them. He didn’t get married until a few years ago.

Right person, wrong time. We were friends in high school, we liked each other but never did anything. We got together 5 years later, now it’s been almost 3 months of dating and 9 months since we reconnected and we are totally in love with each other. But external factors are tearing us apart. I’ve never felt heartbreak like this before, but we both want to remain open to the future because we truly love each other. Here’s to us in the future

I don’t have a lost romantic love, but I do have a “lost” love. My buddy josh who I met in high school, took his own life after I graduated high school. I loved him like an older brother, and now all I think about in relationship to him is grief and sadness.

Yes I have one that got away. Recently seeing her has brought up so many feelings hence the reason I’m on here watching these vids. Her taking her love away from me was one thing, taking her friendship away from me has left me so broken, I never thought we’d become strangers again. That’s the saddest part. What I like about this video is looking at all their faces and seeing each one as a beautiful person that someone would love. I might not look at everyone that way if I passed them on the street. But in this context, I see it so clearly. Everyone is BEAUTIFUL.

lol mine was my “best friend”. i fell in love the moment i met him yet i knew that i couldn’t be with him. his energy lit up the whole room and he was just so bright and amazing that i wanted to be around him any way that i could so i settled for friendship, even though i always wanted something lore. he went abroad and came back at the end of our senior year and we went on dates and stuff but i was too shy to admit that i liked him and whatever. i decided one night after three years of being in love with him that i wanted to confess and get it off my chest so i could move on. well, i did, i told him how i felt and he said he was using me because even though he liked me too, i was simply just the girl who would gas him up and make him feel good about himself. he would also go out and hook up with random girls and expect me to pick up the pieces of the after math. needless to say, i don’t really talk to him even though he was my best friend for years. i’m now just trying to heal from that and move on

I went to a concert, met a guy in line, and we spent the entire night together. Best night of my life. I asked if he was single and he said he wasn't. We tried to be friends afterwards but the chemistry was too strong, and he said he was too invested in his relationship to "emotionally cheat" on her. He was a good person so he stopped talking to me. It's been almost two years and I still think about him all the time. Edit 2022: He’s married to her now. Facebook stalked him recently to see lol. But I moved two states away a year and a half ago, and have been with a wonderful, supportive partner for 8 months now. All is well, friends.

L V he was a good person so he didn’t want to cheat on her (pretty sure OP is saying nothing happened yet). Like, we all meet people and build friendships, but on recognizing where it was going the other party had the maturity to cut it off before it got too out of control. I don’t think you can really control chemistry or attraction, so the hope is always that the SO will exercise the level of restraint & commitment this person did.

My story: I met this man when I was in high school. First time I met him in person in a public space I thought he was the most perfect individual in both looks as well as personality. I have always had issues with how I see myself. Whether it be too fat, too gay, too ugly, etc. That night he told me "If you're ever at the bottom of your barrel you can text me and maybe we can hang out." I don't think he realized how infatuated with him I was. 'Bottom of my barrel?' I thought. 'I could never be with a soldier as handsome and well put together as you.' I loved him immensely. When he left to be stationed across the country I fought back tears as I watched him drive away from me after one final night together. Wasn't until I went back inside and knew he couldn't see me that I let everything out and weeped like I never thought possible. In my mind it was 'over forever, but it was a blessing while it lasted.' Many days and nights were spent crying over the 'one that got away'. I always kept in contact with him. Never wanting to lose the last thread of connection and communication to someone who I thought was the perfect man for me.... 9 years have passed since the day I watched him drive away from that driveway and as of October 2020, 3 days before my birthday, he proposed to me from across the country. We got married in December of that year. Due to covid we couldn't plan a big event, but we made it work. 4 days after the wedding I left my family and moved to GA where he is currently stationed and am living in a home with the love of my life currently. I don't know how I got the man I've always wanted.... but I have never felt more protected and secure than I am now with him.

Videos like this cause pain for me too because I thought I had met the love of my life, but she decided that monogamy was not for her and one year of long distance wasn't doable and I know I could reach out whenever I want and she's always open to talk/be friends but she hurt me so much after that I can't... I don't know if that's considered a lost love, but out of the people I've been with, she's the only one I felt that strongly about. I wouldn't date her again after what she did and who she's become. But I'll always love the girl I gave 2 years of my life to. Even if she doesn't exist anymore. Sometimes I wonder if I would be happier having never dated her... just know that dating can leave emotional scars.

I tried moving on by myself, just myself.. but then I met who I’m with now and I really hate how the timing worked in that regard. Yeh i guess, i've pushed everyone away from me, i'm too shut off. I bring out the worse in people who come into contact with me. Theres something not right about me. I try sharing my opinions on here and i end up arguing with people. and i dont even mean to. Whats that got to do with "lost love"? I met this girl at high school i was a good two years older than her, she noticed me first, i was so scared to touch her because i felt i was a monster and she shouldn't be with me, i didn't deserve her! If she only knew the bad i had done. I had a devil and angel type thing on either side of me whenever i would meet her after school. On one side in my head was like saying im fucked up and i will only taint her if we are together. But other side was saying this is God giving you a second chance, this is like a angel come to rescue you, it racked my brain for ages! I couldnt take it, i was lying in bed all night crying quietly thinking about her. I don't think there are millions and millions of people who share the same feeling as i do. I'm in a whole other category. Anyway, i never did get in relationship with her, infact i never did tell her much about myself, we just hung out few times after school, but i will say those few times were the happiest of my life. Hard to describe, cause she said she had to be in by 8pm, i felt something like you're in a prison, and like someone close comes to visit and you just cherish every moment you have with them, felt abit like that. I wanted to hug her but was scared to even do that. So i just walked her home, we held hands a couple of times that was nice. She made feel normal, like just a normal kid, like one of the other guys in my year who got girlfriend. I am really grateful for that. Anyway i've probably put somekind of like damperner on this thread or something sorry i really am, it's just sometimes i just felt i need to let it out abit to someone, and i know that sounds like proper sad. If you've ever watched the movie "The Butterfly Effect" and they say to Ashton Kutcher's character "You were never meant to be." Thats me NOT looking for any sympathy just understanding of the truth, i'm not meant to be here, just waiting for something to happen, thats why i've never connected with anyone else, and why people react to me weird, and why i've just never got on in life. Anyway i wish you all the best of luck in your lives!! Don't fuck it up like i have.
