The story of Kurt Angle is quite a tale. His struggles were not limited to steroids but pain medication, and a lot more. People believe that wrestlers have it easy, because "it's fake" are sorely mistaken. The price they have to pay to stay relevant in this business has led to many ex wrestlers passing away or having major health and mental issues through injury, pushing the body too far too long, as well as long-term steroid, (and often) painkiller abuse and addiction. Not everybody turns out like the Rock or John Cena

People forget, WWE started their own bodybuilding federation, ironically at the same time the steroid backlash started. They signed some big name bodybuilders, and promised a future putting on bodybuilding shows with big money prizes. They put on one show, which wasn’t bad, then the backlash, and it all disappeared. That’s when all the wrestlers started getting smaller.

Even met the legendary Michael Hayes around this time as the man used to pick me up and put me on the service counter. My mom worked at the Texaco gas station down there back then and her gas station was a frequent stop. I got their signatures to this day in her possession along with a few others that I cant remember. Also, it sort of is a competition, just not in the way you think. All of these guys and gals are competing for roster spots, PPV matches, main event cards, and title opportunities. Having an impressive physique improves ones chances of being noticed and ultimately receiving a push. So if you want to have any opportunity to succeed in this business, you have to stand out, so some will use steroids to do that.
