I’ve noticed when people say they don’t have enough money, it really means they don’t have enough to support their preferred way of life. It is possible to live within very tight budgets when you work at it wherever you are

We are taught from childhood to be good consumers. I used to eat out at least everyday. I wasted money on stuff I didn't need. I did keep my cars for a long time and saved on car payments. I have stopped being wasteful with my money and now have a good amount of savings.

I just received Volumes 1 and 2 today, and wow! These are some hefty books, chock full of EVERYTHING! I was so excited to come home and see the boxes at my door. I’m going through Volume 1 right now, and can’t wait to get back to cooking simply and less expensive. I’m 😮70, on SS, living alone and still work because I have to. I can see that these books will be a lifesaver for me. Getting back to basics doesn’t have to mean doing without. I have recently started watching your videos. It’s so nice to see how involved and supportive your husband and mom are. Thank you!❤

For some reason, when I eat out, my brain calculates "good deal" and "cheap," but then I go to the store and realize I could've made 4 or them for the same price. I have fast-food blindness.

170,000 miles for a Toyota isn't bad. They have a longevity that many other brands don't. My 2003 Lexus (I bought used) just reached 200,000 miles. My husband, who is a journeyman mechanic, just serviced it for $700 in parts. He expects it to last another 200,000 miles.

I live in a small area that doesn't have big stores. So since it takes me about 40 minutes one way to get to the regular stores, and I go to 3 different ones I always take my small cooler bag with an ice pack and take lunch, drinks and snacks with me. I am not going to pay those ridiculous prices for fast food which is unhealthy and makes me feel bad anyway.

I'm always amazed watching American movies & seeing people wearing sleeveless or short sleeved tops in the middle of winter in their homes! I gather it's the norm to have heated homes that are warmer than summer temps!! It's nearly winter here for Aussies & we're wearing layers. We don't use our heater until it's absolutely necessary. Of course, it's easier where we live as we don't have snow! Great tips as usual. 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

I shop once a month for groceries. Pick up a few items I run out of a couple weeks later if needed ( cheese for example or find a couple items on sale in the Safeway or Fred Meyer app ), go out to eat twice a month for either breakfast or lunch. Never dinner. Meal prep two items on Sundays to use for lunches and breakfast for my work week. I have also noticed that for a lower cost treat you can always hit a happy hour and get a lower cost on food. Coffee twice a month out the rest of the time I make it at home. I also like to pick up the skinny drink stick packets in a small box from DT and have one of those when I want lemonade.

I make coffee at home for me and my son during the week, and then a full pot on Saturdays and Sundays when my husband is home. I buy fancy coffee beans, and it still only costs me $1.50 for the two of us each day and $2.40 for a full pot. You can have really good coffee for a lot less than Starbucks!

I am 50+ and I love to spend my vacation in youth hostels sometimes. Although I almost live like a hermit, I love it, when I have decided to go to a place like this, to chat with so many different people and to make new experiences. Often there a music groups and I can listen to wonderful (often classical) music for free; the food is most of the time as good as in a good hotel, they offer rooms with your own bathroom and children know how to behave there - and the price is unbeatable :-)

I definitely feel if there are programs at the library (not trans reading day) that are GREAT for kids if it isn't horribly far and you can do it maybe a couple times a month. Having kids pick out books they are interested in is really important to keep them excited about reading. It is a big help with homeschooling. Don't wear yourself out, but try to fit it in. Also, if your park isn't a horrible inconvenience, that's good for "PE" and good for everyone to get outside. I homeschooled some my child's educational journey, and I found these suggestions to be helpful. May the Lord bless you and guide you in your homeschool journey. 😊

My boys play baseball at the local park. We don’t live paycheck to paycheck but we do budget! In late game nights we do chicken wraps or sandwiches instead of the concession stand or drive thru. Even using a salad kit and pre grilled chicken it’s Sooooo much cheaper than takeout!

You didn't have the right library! Our library has programs for the children where they all gather in one room and listen to the speaker. Sometimes they eat and make crafts. I didn't realize our area was blessed in that regard. So many programs. A good way to introduce them to sitting still, reading books, and getting along with others.

We bought a house with a huge garden, deck and a pool so we can staycation all year at home, our winters are not that bad so no need to go to Cuba etc. we save thousands by not going, we don't drink, I can cook better meals and if I really need to we can order in a meal for a treat. I would rather use the money to up grade the house and garden which is an investment that pays back not a loss.

You don't have to stop drinking coffee; make coffee at home and at work. You can even splurge on good coffee and real cream while still paying less than at a drive-through. Buy an espresso machine if you like the fancy stuff (like I do) and you can make your own at home.

Summer is a coming and a lot of people are beginning to buy summer wardrobes. Consider cutting off those long pants to turn them into cutoffs. Consider cutting sleeves off of tee shirts. If yoire brave, look for how to cut a tee shirt into a tank top. BTW - Shirts and tops on the snug side fit much better with the sleeves cut off. If its a non raveling knit, (or tee shirt knit) you can even cut v's into the neck line.
