I was so proud of my granddaughters. On Mothers Day they gave me a very soft bath robe. They bought it at thrift store for $4.00. New it was $89.00. They have learned the value of their money. Proud they learned from me.

People are just plain silly. My sweet husband is the king of grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup and hot dogs and roasted cut up potatoes. I've had a couple of strokes and my brain doesn't always work so lots of times it's every man for himself. He's my hero. 🥰🥰And we're retired. God is good. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

We grew up middle class and yet, we only did an "expensive" vacation once every 3 to 5 years. The year we went to Disney land, we drove the camper van, stayed in an older motel a bit away (it did have a pool), we cooked meals out in the parking lot, and got only 1 treat per day except the one day it was exceptionally hot and we got 2. We were allowed one souvenir each with a price limit which was the exception because we normally weren't allowed. Most vacations were spent traveling and camping in state parks and national parks but we spent the night at more than one road side rest stop. Back then, parks were far cheaper than they are now and we often went for an overnight or a couple of nights.

@@staciefallon5347 Yes, there is an associated cost and the last time I looked it was $65. But, the pass is good for life. I believe that the pass must belong to the vehicle driver but certainly in times past you could have a whole vehicle of babies, kids, young adults, adults, and middle aged folks. My parents each had one. But, I knew of someone a whike ago who used to put great grandma at the wheel of an RV just outside the checkpoint then switch just on the park side.

Over multiple years, we have purchased black mesh, 60% to 70% UV ray blocking, sun shade tarps to,blockmthe sun from heating up windows and even siding. We open the house at night and also in the very early morning to cool it down; sometimes with the assistance of fans because they are far cheaper than a/c. We completely turn off heat emmitting devices, screens, and even the LED light bulbs; and we time thier use.

Catching up - was mowing last night; a few years ago, I probably averaged 150/mon on hair & nails. Gave it up. - Hair now has natural grey highlights; gets a budget cut 3-4 times/year; - Nails are short and cleaned which is better with all the time in garden; If my hair and nails are a problem for others, it is THEIR problem.

Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only one who wondered how these women clean themselves after using the bathroom. How do they button up their jeans if they were button ups? My mother-in-law had such long fingernails that she actually cut a vein and her feminine private parts and had to go to the emergency room because of fingernails. I think long fingernails are just gross and unsanitary.

Just this week I had a finger nail split horizontally and went online to find information about repairing it myself. I found a great KZreadr who showed how to simply fix it so it can grow out. I repaired my nail with a small piece of a tea bag then put on a clear base coat of polish!! She is a great “nail instructor “ and made it so simple with each step!!She also has a video about cuticles that I want to try. May I send you her link? If so how?

My wardrobe is gratefully offered to me by several "buy nothing groups" in my area. I have not bought clothing in many years. I buy a new pair of shoes once a year (after I save up for them). People are now fixing these extensive recipes, with shredded cheese, cream cheese and sour cream. They think that regular meals (meat, veg and starch) are boring and no longer acceptable. It takes extra time and extra ingredients to make these other meals, and I don't think they taste any better. Want an extravagant meal - save it for the weekends. I just went to Amazon and/or Ebay - the price for your cookbooks is over $100 each. I did see a GF/DF book for about $50. Tawara - I have no money, so it's always a "no spend" month! I agree about not joining the church if you feel the "church" isn't correct on some big issues. The church I was attending was painted black and with black curtains. It has a professional sound equipment, and the worship team is more "entertainment" than worship. The church says it an attempt to get the young people into the church. I stopped going.

My nails split often, and I've tried everything. The best thing that works for me is nail glue. Get some liquid glue that has a brush applicator and brush it on thick enough to keep the nail from snagging. Reapply as it wears off until the split completely grows out. I keep a small bottle in my purse, so at the first sign of a split, I can put it on so it won't tear. It just looks like clear fingernail polish. It can also be removed with pure acetone if needed.

Tara - I have volume 1 of your cookbook and love it! You actually had to re-ship the cookbook to the office due to postal delivery problems. I work in a doctor's office and the staff go out to lunch everyday, spending around $60.00 - $100.00/day for 4 people. I bring my lunch using your recipes and everyone always comments on how good the food smells and those who taste it want me to share my lunch. The cookbook is sitting beside me as I type this and I am have the doctor and nurses pick out the recipes they want me to make and everyone will chip in for the cost of the food to prepare lunch for a week. I know I can spend around $20.00 - $40.00 (this includes meat and a dessert) to feed our office for a week. Thank you for all your advice, truth telling for people who spend money but don't always realize how much time it costs them to earn that money, thrift store and garage sale hauls, and especially your channel on cooking meals and comparison of foods. Say Hello to Mike and Jill!

Also Tawra, derm pa here. The problem with the knicked nail is likely an issue at the germinal end of the nail not the plate or the nail bed - it’s an alteration with how the cells that form the nail are doing so (under the cuticle). This is why longitudinal ridging and “knicked” nails are very common in many systemic immune diseases. However very commonly from over saturation or minor trauma. The best thing you could do right now is to avoid moisture altogether by always wearing gloves, having mike do the dishes 😉, and possibly adding on an iron supplement if you can hack it

Just got my hard-to-fit teen 2 pairs of Amercian Eagle shorts (one of the few brands that fit her) for $8.xx at Salvation Army. One was 'full price' and one was 50% off. Same thing is $40+ each new off the rack or $20+ on many online thrift stores. The store is not local but I was in the area for an appointment. It was well worth my time to drive an extra 10 minutes over there and spend 30 minutes looking (I got a .99 top for me, too) to solve her shorts issue and save $30-70 vs. new or online thrift.

I have a large family 13 kids only seven at home anymore, but we always just trim our own hair colored it at home. Two of my girls actually went to cosmetology school so that actually helped they can do highlights and color and whatever but now they don’t live near me anymore, so that’s sad but I’ve always just buzzed my boys hair in the summer and you know for a special occasion say a wedding coming up we’ll get their hair done at a barbershop, but can you imagine how much money I’ve saved over the years of not taking my kids to get professional haircuts or myself my hair pretty long and I almost always keep it up in the clip so I don’t really worry about it too much And as a special treat, I took my daughter last fall to get nails done the salon I fell over when it cost $150 for me and her to get her nails done so yeah that won’t be happening again for a long time

Maybe those with big nails have bidets ? Lol. I used to have longer nails. You get used to them. Used the side of my finger to use my cell phone. And I didn’t type much at my job.

I have the split down the middle on my right thumb nail. It started from open plastic medication packets as a nurse, probably 10 years ago at least. I have to keep it cut short because every time it grows out it continues to split. If you discover a cure please share.

Our local chain grocery store had two items advertised for 98 cents a package this week. Ad said it was for 16 oz packages. One item wasn't even in stock *conveniently*, even though it ordinarily is. 🙄 The other, which was labeled as the advertised item, was NOT the advertised product. It was a smaller package of the same brand, and it rang up nearly double the price. I got overcharged $35! Thankfully, I know the manager, and after discussing it with him, I was told I'd be able to get a full case of each item I wanted at the sale price..I just have to wait until the next truck... in 2 days. Oh, and *maybe* they'll get it.

I think the lady taking about used car prices being the same as new car prices was probably talking about newer cars that are only a couple years old. I was looking at "gently used" earlier this year and found the difference between a brand new car and a 2 year old car was like $2,000. I couldnt figure out why anyone would pay 30,000 for a 2 year old car with 50,000 miles when they could get a brand new for 32,000. Clearly, older used cars are gonna be much less expensive than 32,000. I used to be able to save 30% by buying a slightly used cars. No more!

Back in college I had a colleague who was making $6.50 an hour and spent $80-120 on hair, MAC makeup, designer sunglasses, Starbucks, NAILS bi weekly, partied on weekends!! She ended up changing her major the 3rd year because being in criminal justice won’t allow her to have long fake nails! 😂 yet, my vices was Starbucks, and she asked me how do I afford a round trip tickets to Finland 😅😂 I said I don’t spend money on beauty and maintenance on hair, nails, Sun glasses (she had new pairs like every month). My round trip tickets was $500 to Finland and Thailand

I know it would take a lot of time, but I think it would be SO helpful for people if you did a short grocery haul of all your groceries for June. Even just a few minutes for each one, then make it a combined video at the end of the month. and also maybe put a screenshot of the dinners you ate each week? See it in action 😊 I loved the grocery audits (I liked their pantry tours though they did get a tad long, I appreciated the process) I think people would love to see “Family spends $400 a month in groceries” and you show us. We are a family of 6 and spend 5-650 a month (that doesn’t include some beef we raise ourselves)
