My husband passed away last November, I wasn’t completely sure what my income would be but I told myself that whatever the Lord blessed me with, I would be a good steward over the money. I’m grateful.

I made twice baked potatoes tonight, hubby said they were the best ever, only trouble is they were made with all the left over bits of food in the fridge so I can't really make them the same again. Most of our meals are made up of left overs, some bacon here, some cheese, ham, peppers etc all thrown in a omelet with a side salad. Left over rice from stir fry makes rice pudding next day, left over spaghetti sauce gets beans and is now chilli etc etc. Two slices of sourdough bread becomes french toast.

Some of my best meals will never be made exactly the same again! I aim for a "fresh cook" every other dinner and a "reconstituted meal" on the other every other days. Ive dine so for decades but my primary, original reason is i dont like to wash or scrub pots n pans. Its nice that it saves time, money, and food wastage too.

I stick to a list and then sometimes I see things I needed and forgot about. I put things on the fridge (list) and decide what I need to buy when I go so I’m always waiting for the deals.

Tara, I won’t look at the sale ad on the week that I don’t shop. If I look, I’ll shop! I spend less and try to shop twice a month. I also stock up on sale things that I don’t need yet for my pantry and freezer. I shop at home in between shopping trips.

A popular grocery here has many things on sale either on their digital coupons.that you have to scan online for a couple hours before you go , and most items where you have to buy 5 or 10 of their items to get the lower price. I don't go there very often. It's just too stressful

Can you do a video or explain the house buying process (down payment, closing, taxes, insurance, etc.?). Also your motivations for moving to a different city and getting a new home based on your frugality.

I’m lucky enough to have several grocery stores near me. I made a template on a 1/2 sheet of paper with subtitles of the four stores with lines underneath. When the store flyers come in the mail I list the items on sale that I really need for my stockpile. Whenever I happen to be passing by the stores throughout the week I check my list. Very helpful.

I buy the Tyson Breaded Chicken Strips, and bagged frozen fries, and pair it with homemade coleslaw. About twice a year I will buy a Stouffer's frozen lasagna and pair it with a salad (maybe a salad kit, maybe not), and garlic bread (I don't buy frozen garlic bread, too easy to butter and add garlic powder and slip into the oven when the lasagna is almost cooked). I also did find a frozen box of egg rolls that I like and keep on hand when I need a meal more quickly than some other times. But, for the most part I make my own everything. I may not stick to my list. I go twice a month - Walmart once a month, then I make a trip to Aldi and Sam's Club in the same day. I had tried the going every ten days, and it just didn't feel right to me. You are not prideful; you are sharing how you have been a good steward with what God has blessed you with. At Aldi this morning, they had grape tomatoes (Cherubs) on display. Right around the corner were the no-name grape tomatoes for $.50 package less. I was able to talk to the girl (young woman) who had just picked up the Cherubs, and she put them back in order to save a little money - WIN! I like peanut butter and butter also. But I like cream cheese and jelly as a special treat.

Order online is the best way. I don’t go in but maybe once a month. If we run out of chips, cookies, etc. my kids know that they don’t get more until next week. It helped them to learn to only each 1or 2 cookies a day because theres no more when it runs out.

My diet mainly consists of fruits and veggies. I live alone so this isn’t a problem as far as feeding others. I never cared for meat as a child, and don’t eat anything fried. My bad habit is a sweet tooth. But I try to keep that under control the best I can.

I went to the 218 German Baptist Market in Carroll County Indiana. I got 2 lbs of bacon, two 8 Oz boxes cream cheese from Walnut Creek, 3 zucchini, 5 lbs potatoes, huge head of cabbage and one large cucumber. The total. Cost was 25. 76. I thought that was pretty good. Can't wait to make some seasond cabbage steaks .
