My daughter came home with a back pack full of deodorant she ended up paying 25 cents each or less for them. We haven’t had to buy deodorant for a couple of years and she gifted some to her siblings family’s and put some in the free box in town for the homeless. She is queen of sales.😂😂😂

Years ago, I went with my uncle and cousin dumpster diving. They lived near a very large city and knew the schedules of the stores to throw away. They made a living off doing this. I have never seen sooooo much stuff discarded. There were a lot of very high dollar items. They had a fully stocked building full of food. They regularly gave to food banks and homeless shelters.

Suggestion - stock up on plastic bags if your area Walmart and grocery stores still provide them. Some states already banned them and Walmart is getting rid of them by 2024 (and/or planning to charge 10 cents each). Lots of uses for those bags around the house

On the subject of washing rags, for heaven’s sake, I spent years washing both cloth diapers and cloth menstrual rags. They did get washed separately from things like nice clothing or washcloths, usually in with things like jeans, tube socks, bummy old towels, throw rugs, and so on. Washing up rags that have been used to wipe up spills is less gross than blood and poo. If a person can handle dealing with children, they can cope with cloth rags, because face it, little kids are constantly producing quantities of almost every bodily secretion, and we have to clean that up. Anyone who’s had a diaper explosion or two to clean up can surely deal with the ick factor that comes with using cloth rags.😁

I can't believe ANYONE would spend 6,7,or 8.00 for deodorant. I get mine at Dollar Tree. In fact, I stocked up BEFORE Dollar Tree raised their prices. People can laugh at "preppers" all they want, but we are the ones laughing all the way to the bank.

Don't laugh at me but I have tried every natural deodorant with poor results. I tried the new one called Lume and it works great and all natural. I bought a pack of three for 33 dollars, yes eleven dollars each. I know it's expensive but worth it to me. N

@@beverlyharward9631 My deodorant is completely perfect. It is kept in a small tote indoors. I have never had a problem when pulling out a new one. 2 years and still counting. EVERYTHING is given an expiration date. Even salt. Don't believe it!

The secret to shopping at Sam’s Club is to buy several items when on sale. They have monthly sales which are really good. I buy 1-2 years worth (as long as it’s something we normally buy). We get 3% back so we always make back our yearly fee. We save a ton of money. The other thing we buy is the large packages of shredded cheese and large packages of meat. We repackage and freeze.

My wife says: Never use fabric softener with dish towels, cleaning rags, or towels. It leaves a plastic like film and prevents absorption.

Dumpster diving isn’t gross. I get whole bags of just food or bags of just first aid stuff. I got 20 pounds of bacon out of the dumpster the other day!! It was freezing temperatures that whole week!!I I get pet food, cat litter. I even found a whole case of dish soap.Whatever I don’t use that’s good I donate.

I buy cereals, crackers, chips, and cookies that are expired. I have had many of these items in storage for several years. If they are stale, I put them in my dehydrator for a couple of hours, and they are crispy and fresh once again. Last week I purchased 480 dollars worth of expiring meats for 65 dollars. I immediately washed, repackaged, and froze them. Now I am all stocked up! Havent bought paper products in 8 years. I went to goodwill and bought fleece pajama pants for 50 cents a pair. I cut them up into 8 inch squares to use for toilet paper (family cloth). I launder these as I would baby diapers. They work great, and I have saved thousands of dollars over the years. I use cut up t shirts for cleaning everything! I keep them in a 5 gallon bucket under my kitchen sink. My husband brought in a 3 pak of paper towels the other day and I about had a fit! He wasted 5 dollars for something he threw in the trash! 😳 You girls are just like me! You are such a blessing! GOD BLESS YOU!

MICROFIBER is good to clean anything

A former job I had I went to seniors homes. One lady made a big pot of oatmeal on Monday and ate out of it all week. She lived a LOOOONG time.

I wanted to do a No Spend January and noticed all the after Christmas sales. A No Spend February would be better. Always have a plan B.

the best wipes for mirrors and glass are linen which leave no streaks. Buy old linen dinner napkins and dish towels at yard sales and thrift stores for very little money. Linen last for years!

Been a subscriber for years, got your plastic comb bound book 20years ago as a wedding present and tucked it away. Since we have started using it we have paid off 2 newish vehicles and more then half of our mortgage in the last 2 years all while I was able to be a stay at home homeschooling mom and only worked part time at night. ( hubby works full time) saving tons! Thank you!

I work in the cleaning business, and instead of buying paper towels for cleaning, I use only a few of the clients' paper towels. I reuse paper towels from the clients' mirrors to do their toilets, and then I throw them out because of sanitary reasons. I never buy them for my own house, but I have several packages of them that I got from doing cleaning jobs. I never use them, so they are only here for emergency reasons. I use old rags or old, used paper towels at home for my own cleaning. I use used paper towels for cleaning items that are really filthy, and then I throw them out. I believe in no waste for anything. I even throw crumbs from bagged items out for the birds and animals.

Y’all make so much sense, and I love your many tips to save. I love thrifting and I hate paying full retail for anything , including food.Thanks so much.

When I come across something that has been frozen and it has Ice crystals on it I always rinse it in a strainer and I find it helps with the off taste.

One area I save money is not buying pet treats etc. I buy a huge bag of hamster mix which is usually like £1.50 per kilo. It lasts like 6 months - even with 10 + hamsters etc. For treats, I use things like cereal, used cupcake liners with cake in it, chicken, cheese, meal worms from poundland - lasts a month at least, biscuits, carrots, nuts etc. So much cheaper than brightly coloured corn rings etc. At hamster shows the hamsters are given a dog biscuit and a piece of fruit and veg - not a whole one. So much cheaper too.

My mother was a piano teacher when I was a child. She was also our unpaid church pianist. A few times as a ministry she gave piano lessons to a poor child but soon realized that parents would not insist on the child practicing if lessons were free. They might not even show up for the lessons!

Depends on the parent. We homeschool and found a place in the next town over that does twice weekly free judo lessons. Last night my hubby was in the ER & my MIL took our son to his judo class for us (it’s 15 minutes from her as opposed to 40 minutes from us). But we go every time. It’s an amazing resource for us & we weren’t able to do it for a year (had no margin in our life) and created the space to be able to have it in our life. Some of our homeschool friends have even started joining us!!!

Thick sliced bacon is on sale for half price at Ridley's. Yes, I stocked up!

I use a mix of paper towel and rags. Rags for everyday mess and then put in a bucket of bleach/water before washing. Paper towel for nasty messes, then put into the compost.

At one time, I actually had 8 bread machines, excellent for when the church had a bake sale! I could make different types, cheaply too. Bought most for $15-$20 at thrift stores! Who says you cannot make bread in the living room, with your machines, hee hee?

I bought a Sourdough Starter on Amazon last week. I have been feeding it so it will be ready this weekend to bake with. I understand it will be better for me and also my husband who is a diabetic.

During covid my mom was out of sorts because she couldn’t find Bounty paper towels (the expensive ones) that she uses a lot of everyday. A different brand just was not an option at all! It made me aware I went through a lot of (Dollar Tree) paper towels. I consciously switched to Dollar Tree napkins which is a huge package and lasts alot longer! I also bought some Handi wipes to rinse and reuse. I’m working on it. I will be saving good cloths to work in to my daily routine this year

It’s always a nail biter when there is remodeling underway. Having lived through several - some we did and the last one was completely contractors. I moved out of my house for seven months (all of this budgeted at 175k - all materials, labor, installation, permits etc and my living expenses off site) to an extended stay hotel with my pet. My house was completely gutted to the outside walls and rebuilt with new plumbing, electrical etc. my best friend did the kitchen design - however I did the original floor plan if my home (a ranch) had an architect do the proper drawings. It went a couple weeks past time as it was started in May and I moved back in mid-December just in time for the …drum toll please: the kitchen counters, cabinets and appliances. I bought this house post divorce in 1998 and the complete gut job in 2016. I love my house as it was designed for me to age in place.

I use e-cloths for windows and mirrors, one wet, one dry, then the special polishing one to make it shine. Works great! I have two sets and even take them to church work days for doing the windows. Had them for years so I have saved a lot. I don't buy paper towels.

My mom in law gave me her food savor its great for long term. Also found at hobby lobby holiday stuff you can get reuseable paper towels

I love my napkins and paper towels, but I only buy on sale. Sams napkins lasts us a year or two at $11, so that doesn't really effect my spending. Paper towels on sale in bulk seems to be the cheapest way to get a good paper towel. They are not all created equal. We got that (thing )so bad last January husband had to be on oxygen for 8 weeks and missed almost a months work. I get sick every 6 to 8 weeks now. I will say God , friends prayers and the supplies he allowed us to purchase saved my husband's life. We had food, meds, and medical supplies that alerted us when to go to ER. My husband walked out on oxygen 5 hours after I had left him( I could not go in because I had it too). That doesn't happen when someone is as sick as he was with pneumonia. Men please be careful he was day 14 when he turn for the worst. Ask doctors for a steroid and antibiotics. We were informed at hospital this was normal for hispanic males . That he would test negative for the thing then positive for pneumonia, and he sure did. Stock piles don't just work they save lives and money. The oxygen alone was like $800 not including machines and hoses that was the bottles and we only refilled 2 bottles once each. Could not image a hospital bill for long care like that.

All the info on the expiration dates that you have given is going to help me save so much!! I will not be tossing out all my good food in the trash anymore!!! I wish I knew all this a long time ago. THANK YOU!😀

Thank you for your planner. I purchased it a few days ago and started using it immediately. I love it. It has helped me to get organized daily as a busy homeschool mom. My teens asked for the same planner to help them get organized after seeing the difference it has made for myself.

Our grocery stores in E TN have the worst mark down prices! We moved here from an island in Alaska and had way better discount (seasonal, post-holiday) prices than this place! The Wlamart has cranberries marked down from $2.36 to $1.50 so the sign says. As I recall, that's the exact same price as before the holidays. The only place worth shopping that I have found is Hobby Lobby at 90% off where we bought several 2024 Christmas gifts for our daughters-in-law and grandd-daughters. Walmart did have some Christmas kids clothing on sale for $1.50. We bought something for each of the grand-children in the next larger size and then a Christmas tree for $17.50 (that's less than the local Good Will stores as we went to several). Ugh! We are continuing to visit Walmart, Kroger and UGO to see if they will mark down those cranberries to no more than $0.75 / bag--I really only want to pay $0.25-$0.50 / bag. In Alaska we used to get cranberries for those post-holiday prices...And clothing at the itty-bitty Walmart? Well, out of season summer / winter / holiday kids clothing was $0.25 - $1.00 a piece. Ugh! So frustrating! If I didn't love those sweet grand-babies so much...We are both nurses and only have a small house payment but still. Dag-blasted thieves. Oh, absolutely no gift packs of any kind on the shelves the day after Christmas! Not one that had been there Christmas Eve. No way they sold all of those things. No way. Stinks!

I really appreciate a successful person saying not to budget. I don't always have the time and energy. What I do though is when I get paid, I move money to savings in a bank that takes 3 days to transfer back, and only leave enough in that checking account for bills and gas. My husband only transfers money from the business account to checking when there are bills to pay. We've found this keeps us far more accountable than budgeting and tracking spending and saves a lot of time.

I have so many dish rags and dish towels that I have a laundry basket designated for these items. When my basket gets filled, then I wash them.

Big familys need to buy in bulk- i buy 80 rolls ($40) of toilet paper which lasts for a year. the 25 lb bag of sugar($13.98) lasts me a year. So it depends on how often you eat certain things.

The store where I work has locks on the dumpsters. I use restaurant style cloth napkins as napkins and old ones for cleaning. Also I LOVE my new planner!!

I love paper towels. I buy them from a little discount store in my town. I use them to clean grease from cookware, litter boxes, animal crates, and bathroom and kitchen fixtures. I remember the days before paper towels and to me paper towels are a blessing.

Yes, we use rags for many things. But when I'm cleaning rabbit crates or the chicken coop, I appreciate paper towels. Thankfully, I can usually catch Bounty on sale at the Commissary for $1/double roll or so, and a 12-pack of double rolls will last us for 3-4 months.

I use paper towels to save water and electricity! I can wipe out greasy pans or messy casseroles, thus not using water (which I need electricity to pump & heat) to rinse & soak them.

For getting the bread to rise; try to use filtered or bottled water. Sometimes City water has to much chlorine and it kills the yeast. Also for Sourdough if it won't start or keep growing, it could be chlorine killing the yeast. Edited to add: you said your yeast frothed so mabe your pan is too big? That's all I can think of🤷‍♀️

Leave water on the counter with no lid. Chlorine will evaporate in twenty four hours.

I grew up with left over day and it was our favorite day of the week every got to eat their favorites

You can use old newspaper to clean windows and mirrors and have less streaking and less lint

I’m watching this after just watching g extreme cheapskates on the TLC channel. The father made his family- with kids- go to the car wash where the vacuums are. Conned the young guy working there to open the vacuum contents because he claimed his wife lost her earring in there. It was planted there by the father. He just wanted his family to grab all the other freebies: ear buds, jewelry and coins! The older kids looked mortified but the little ones thought it was a treasure hunt. It’s like watching a train wreak. You want to change channels but you can’t get your jaw off the floor to get the remote

I have tried to quit paper towels a few times, but this new year I put 1 roll under the cabinet to using to blot bacon. I got a basket of wash clothes gray for kitchen and now we only use them for napkins! (White clothes are for bathroom) I soke the kitchen clothes then in the washer they go. Love it husband loves nice clothes and haven't looked back. Should save 500.00 a year!

I use a food savor to help with freezer burn as I live alone and devide the food when getting home from the store . Mostly meat . Buy a roast on sale and cut it up and the same for chops and chicken on sale .

I loved doing that when I lived in Minnesota. I found a beautiful brass made in Spain with crystals a couple of chandeliers

If you live near a college, especially near dorms, curbside gleaning is a thing at the end of the year. My roomies and I lived near three colleges and found great stuff on the curbs.

Was at Walmart yesterday. GV white bread was $1.32 a loaf (in SE Missouri). Up from the 88 cents we paid for years! Still the cheapest bread in the store.

Many times Walmart has seasonal wash cloths on sale at the end of the season (dirt cheap). These would be excellent to use instead of paper towels, plus they would be uniform in size and fit in a pretty basket nicely.

Here in the UK there's such a thing as "yellow sticker shopping" ... same as your clearance I guess. Uou can save £££ but it's becoming so popular now you gotta be quick lol!

We are planning to move back home (a few states away) after my husband retires. I am a few years younger than he & cannot draw retirement or SS, but I want to be able to care for our aging mothers full-time, or at the very least, work part-time or from home. Our income will be small. I am trying to implement more of your tips in this new year, & paper towels is one. I keep two dollar store bins under each sink, one for dirty & one for clean rags. I do throw away rags I use to clean the toilet & to clean up oily, sticky, gross messes. Love your cookbooks, too!

I use paper towels to drain bacon (which is not that often, maybe 1x a month) and to clean up throw up . (Also not very often). That’s about it. They last a long time.

I usually try to go to the store in the evening when I can and look for meat where the expiration date is the next day. Then I find a manager and see if they will mark it down for me. I found almost 24 pounds of boneless skinless chicken breast this week that got marked down to about $1.50/pound! Take it home and freeze or can it. I was so excited! Lol. Kroger will put their produce on clearance, too. They had several bagged avocados on clearance. 4 in a bag for $1. I bought 10 bags. I had just seen your video for guacamole so that is what I plan to do and freeze. I’m still having to wait for them to soften!

I use a couple of rolls of paper towels a year... one whole roll this week--sick dog. I have a collection of squares made from old flannel nighties that I use to clean with. I repurpose old towels into wash cloths and then eventually wash cloths into cleaning cloths/swiffer covers. I have a stack of 6inch flannel squares made from old nighties as "kleenex", and when used, they go into a covered trash can in my bathroom that contains bleach water. These are washed with the white clothes with bleach on a laundry day.

I have a bag of clothes that I was going to take to Goodwill. Now, this weekend, I think I will cut them up and make cleaning rags instead. We've been buying paper plates. We use them everyday. I've been feeling bad about this. I think we will just save them for emergencies. Last night at the grocery I found a couple good deals. Body wash for 99 cents and canned pumpkin for 25 cents! Love your channel and your cookbooks and e books!

I use 2 rolls in 2 months, I use them for oily things because then I use them as fire starters
