Exactly food has become a God to alot of people nowadays. If they worried more about there salvation and relationship with Jesus and were they will spend eternity. Just eating normal portion control and eating balanced diet in the long run and getting more exercise weather it's simpel walking or just movement.

People who worry so much about food are really control freaks. Yes, some people have to watch what you eat but people have become rude .I would never tell someone to make something special for me.If my diet is that narrow, I'd bring my own food and invite everyone to have some. Or I'd offer to make and bring food for everyone.

My husband's grandmother lived until 103. She loved bologna sandwiches, plain chips & koolaid. She ate this everyday for lunch. She always told me everything in moderation and not to be lazy! 😆 I love these sit down talks. Thank you so much for all you put into them. 😊

I probably could not live on $45.00 a month because I eat meat mostly and have a dog to feed also. I also help cook for the church every Sunday and I probably spend more on that than for myself. I don’t use breadcrumbs or very much bread at all. I try to stay away from all carbs. I have made home made pizza , but I don’t eat it very often. I do get a frozen pizza every now and then if I find a good bargain. I found out that I feel better if I stay on a carnivore diet and cut out all sugars and grains. I grew up on pinto beans and boiled potatoes with oatmeal for breakfast so I know how to eat frugally but now I am overweight and have sore joints which quit hurting when I get off of sugar and grains.

I started to follow because of your tips on how to clean and organize. And now, I Love the current shopping audits! I get motivated to look for more loss leaders in Japan and also wait for clearance items. We are retired, so have become very frugal. And because of being frugal, we have extra funds to be generous to those in need.

I found that diabetic comment and conversation so fascinating. I'm a diabetic type 2 I was on exclusively low-carb diet for years and it worked okay but I couldn't lose weight and I was having major problems with my diabetes. I switched to portion control only there is nothing I can't eat. Following this, my A1C went from 7 to 6.1 in a year. That's not even considered diabetic anymore. I feel better I look better and I dropped 43 lb in a year . I shouldn't to this that I wear glucose meter so I monitor my blood sugar at all times which is extremely important

I bought an older house that needed work so I got it for a bargain price. I also drive older cars. There is a food truck that comes every month that I go help unload and put the food up and in bags to give out so I usually get a few freebies from there. My house is paid for and I live in a small community and have a septic system and water well so don’t have a lot of expenses.

I'm a new viewer, 70 years old, and survive on my late husband's pension and social security. I'm doing fine. No debt and I own my home. My Momma made delicious pancakes. She would serve them with homemade maple-flavored simple syrup. She also made homemade chocolate syrup for the times she served ice cream. When I moved out alone, I was surprised you could buy those in the grocery store. Momma cooked three meals daily, seven days a week, all from scratch. She worked 3rd shift at the hospital. We had one car for the family. She sewed our clothes, upholstered the furniture, and made curtains and drapes. Love you girls!!

BRAIN FOG IS REAL Y’ALL!!! It truly does help having that list in a VERY handy spot & you’d be surprised how often these days I feel as if I have too many meals in rotation or leftovers b/c we get given food or whatever. Lately only 1-2 weeks are there really GREAT deals in rotation on the sales, but rarely are they ever THAT good!!! I mean, they’re good, just not THAT FANTASTIC OF A DEAL!!!

Lived in Ontario Canada all my life. Have actually made REAL maple syrup. Tapped the trees, lugged full buckets of sap to where we were boiling it down, strained it, bottled it, etc. a lot of hard work! Tasted great! Not cheap to make, but it is a fine art. There is an easier way to move the sap with hoses, but still a lot of work. A younger bush can reduce the amount of sap to syrup (30 :1), but still hard work. Only eat real maple syrup due to my sensitivity to refined sugars. Limit how much I eat.

I have a full kitchen cupboards with buying groceries only on sale, I have and possibly of trading volunteer time with a local food bank for vegetables that they have a over abundance of and might not get used in time. I live with a roommate and we share the cost of groceries for the 2 of us to eat cost $160.00 a month. We drink mostly water We don’t smoke, don’t drink alcohol, don’t play lottery , and we don’t eat out often and we don’t buy pop, We live very full lives with many simple pleasures. We love watching a movie and eating popcorn, we enjoy taking a picnic to the park, we carry refill able water bottles most places. When you mentioned about the woodpulp in cheese.l worked in a cheese factory and the wood is used in making the imitation cheese.its real fine and is fine like sifted flour.l was told by my boss that it helps to bind the cheese together when it is poured and mixed together the other ingredients they used.l worked testing the core of the cheese to make sure it was a certain thickness consistency and if it was solid or to crumbly.and l also packaged it.The amount of wood powder is a very tiny sparse amount in the cheese when you eat a slice.l left that job later cause,l was waiting to get a nursing job at that time,as thats what l went to college for and did before the cheese job.l had to quit the nursing job before l took the cheese factory job cause l had moved far away from my nursing job.sending my love and hugs to you and your family and mother.❤️

One of the comments I get a lot is “Must be nice!”. This is told me because I have my house and an investment vacation rental property paid off. I paid cash for my used car. I buy most of my clothes at thrift stores, I don’t eat in restaurants often, I do my own nails, I go to the library for my entertainment, etc. I lived frugally so I could be debt free and save for my retirement. Now I’m 70 years old and I’m living very comfortably on less than most people earn. So they need to stop telling me I’m lucky! If they don’t want to do the work; I’m with you, I don’t have any sympathy for them!

Next year I am going to buy a frost free upright deep freeze. I have a chest freezer that is deep and broke one of my ribs last winter, reaching for things on the bottom. Also to put my pre-cooked frozen meals, so I know what I have. Because sometimes I have lots of time to pre=cook meals and freeze them. But I don't do it, when anyone is in the house, because they distract me too much.

Sorghum is so delicious, we have just recently Rediscovered it. My dad gave me a huge half gallon of it maybe 25 or more years ago. I kept it, but just opened it. It was perfectly good in every way. We used it on biscuits, making baked goods, on ice cream etc. Give it a try friends.

What I saw in that video that said the cafe are the vanilla et cetera was not real was that don't pay top dollar for imitation. When you go to the grocery store and find a cheap container of Olive oil it likely is not Real Olive oil.

Joe hollis lived and worked off the land and looked like a man who worked outside in the sun and labors intensively daily. He is also not a vegan as in his video he was raising ducks for sure which i imagine he eats eggs and or the duck itself. When your skin rarely sees sun it does not age as fast as one who works outside. I am from Arizona and most people are carnivores yet age quite rapidly and have dry wrinkly skin alot sooner than the people i have met from colder climates that stay inside more frequently due to inclimental weather. There are many factors contributing to skin health as well as general health. I give many props to this man who is living minimalistically as well as off the land it does not get more frugal than this gentleman who built it by hand. Hard working outdoors people do age faster.. vegans do not eat eggs Vegetarians eat eggs, there are many varieties of “vegetarians”😂 Good looking loaf of bread

I made homemade pizza tonight for dinner. Bacon leftover from last night, homemade sauce, super cheap! I love these videos. Thank you! Jill, perfect way to put it, "Food is not my god." I can eat simple, I don't need "all the stuff". I could eat rice every meal. Rice and bacon grease, rice and peas, rice with chicken broth... all with salt and pepper of course. But yes, food is what we eat to stay healthy. Love this video! Tawra, people are so ignorant in so many ways. Best way to put it.

I think the best advice I have heard from Jill is “ eat less.” I am over 50 and this is the same advice my doctor has given me about losing weight. Lessen your portion and stretching your meals into 2. Our US portions are way out of control especially when it comes to your protein to ratio on your plate. I am only halfway through this particular video, I wish people would understand proper nutrition, For me the portion imbalance started during pregnancy, the eating for two, and the food cravings. Also the carbs for energy. All food is converted into energy for your body. Thank you so much for sharing your common sense about food. There is a difference between something that is not 100 percent pure and something that is going to be acceptable in your everyday cooking.

I remember my daughter feeling sorry for an homeless guy sat outside a bakery, she went in and bought him some sausage rolls, she gave them to him, only to be told sorry I can’t eat that, I’m a vegetarian! You couldn’t make it up could you? Everything in moderation. If people would rather eat the cardboard box than what’s inside it, well go on, knock yourself out, but stop being food snobs and looking down your nose at other people. Tawra you crease me up, you must have Yorkshire blood in you, because you tell it how it is, like we do! Love your show, thank you for all the good advice you give, it is much appreciated, God bless!

All home canned. I still ate only half so I had another meal. My freezer is more full than when I moved upstairs in July. I eat their leftovers. haha! Butter is $2.49 at KwikTrip. So far I have 28 lbs of butter.

I love hearing Miss Jill talk about the ant and the grasshopper. The problem is, we have an entire generation of people that were told a different version. When I was in my intership in college (elementary education), the story of the ant and the grasshopper in the textbooks ended with the grasshopper being allowed to come into the anthill. The lesson is completely lost. Same with the Little Red Hen. The hen "forgives" her friends and shares with the lazy moochers. 😡 (I homeschool my kids and taught them the real stories.)

Our spice prices start around 2.98 in Alberta Canada, so I go and buy mine at the Health food stores, they have everything in bins, etc. Much cheaper. I buy enough that I can fill the spice jars, and store a jar full, to use out of. They don't sell PREGO Sauce, in Canada anymore. We liked that. But have found a cheap, good replacement. Am stocking up on that. Because I know it will go up. If I can afford it, I always buy 2 of things I am out of. One to use, one to stockpile. Only when on sale.

I do find it hard to keep track of prices. One thing I did was buy a small book for telephone numbers and put milk under. M and so forth. There is plenty of room for different stores to be listed. Strangely our convenience store had the cheapest milk. It me and shopping at more than one store, but at the time I was feeding 4 and it was worth it to stay on budget. As far as bread crumbs are concerned, try this. Save a cereal bag, they are strong. I dry old bread and crush, also add non sweetened cereal crumbs to bag. As I fill I clip closed. I use for topping on Mac a d cheese and meat loaf.

I live in Ct. and buy real maple syrup. People do not understand it takes 40 gallons of maple liquid from the tree to be boiled down to make 1 gallon of what you buy at the store. Maple syrup is condensed sugar. The problem is how much do you pour on your pancakes. I use about 2 tablespoons. I buy the real stuff because I like the taste better. But my son likes the other stuff he hates the taste of real maple syrup. As far as making your own brown sugar has molasses in it which is good for you.

Jill, I would have refused to go see the nutritionist (yet another ploy for the medical industrial complex to get more money from your insurance company). A few years ago, I was super depressed, diagnosed as bipolar, schizophrenic, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, gastroparesis, sleep apnea, morbidly obese, and probably some things I can't remember (as every time I saw the doctor, I would get yet another diagnosis-which fed the pockets of BIG PHARMA). A few years ago, I got serious with the Lord and started seeking Him. Lo and behold, I went off all meds (19 pills and MINIMUM 154 units of insulin)-saving a lot of money. I've lost 100 lbs (so far-I still ways to go, but I'm doing it to where I'm not feeling deprived). Thank God for healing-only because I dared to read, believe, pray, and hold God to His word-And He TOTALLY held up to His word. Tawra, I totally agree with you about a lot of these health issues stem from being overweight. I just like the fact you are willing to be honest and tell people uncomfortable truths. Anyway, I listen and try to implement your tactics and strategies. I haven't always don't things right, but I'm making changes to make our situation better. God Bless You All! THANK YOU!
