I’ll be 60 and absolutely decorate my home for myself and my family. I don’t care about trends. Trends come and go. You’ll never really catch up. (P.S. I have a lantern in my front yard, every winter when the first snow falls I secretly call it my “Narnia lantern”. You’re never too old to dream ❤)

So I'm big on themed rooms My bedroom - Night at the museum that way I can have eclectic older pieces paired with black and white photos I have taken. My hall is walk with him themed. It has some of my more religious artwork and items My bathroom is becoming turtle themed off a painting my art instructor did for me. My next areas are My home library (beauty and the beast), laundry room (House elf / harry potter) and kitchen contry chic

Believe it or not, these cabinets are BEING GIVEN AWAY at estate sales as NOONE WANTS THEM ANYMORE!!!

My jaw dropped when you showed this and then walked away, but SO HAPPY you purchased that elegant and dynamic armoire!

40’s are so freeing! Free of caring what others think or doing, freedom to learn more about yourself and accept others around you, and also the freedom to learn new things! When I turned 40 I graduated with my undergraduate degree and at 42 started my MBA. It has been such a blessing to feel this free and each day is something to cherish. Thank you for your beautiful content and inspiration!!

Love how you decorated the interior of the armoire. You decorated in such a way where the holes aren’t even noticeable. This was an excellent buy, glad it was still available.

Same here. I love cherry wood furniture that has been cared for and polished even though it is considered out of style. My house is filled with it. I would have loved to have gotten that Secretary desk you showed was in that antique store. I've always wanted one, but they were around $800 new back in the 70's.

I bought on marketplace a secretary desk like you show at the end. Someone had attempted to lighten it up with paint and streaks. So I painted it a darker red from Waverly chalk paint, striped the inside with a red and white 1" stripe. It looks great now. Love these kind of finds. ❤

I absolutely am so in love with that armoire. It’s amazing that you found it. Another idea to cover up any holes in the back, is to get a piece of thin plywood or even a heavy card board, measure it out to the size of the back of the self and either put an ornate floral wallpaper or a beautiful tapestry and pop it in to the back of the shelf securely. Do it for each shelf and you’ll have a beautiful background/backdrop in your armoire.

My Mom taught me to decorate for what I like and what motifs. I love that as I can make every rooom have a theme. My old Victorian house with plaster walls and lots of doors made me also appreciate functionality of decor and furniture so I don’t clutter as much as I use to. I love mixing old pieces with new and having things be as ornate as I like it.
