10 speed transmission disassembly

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Watch me disassemble a Eaton Fuller FRO 16210C transmission in 18 mins. This customers top plate was bad due to water damage causing a down stream failure to the back box. This unit is being torn down to get ready to get washed and rebuilt using new parts.#eatonfuller #10speed #trucking #diyrepair #diesel #etrtruckcenter

Also when you take the reverse internal snap ring out you can than just pull the key way and the main shaft will come apart in the trans makes it a lot easier than picking it up as one assembly.

Hey just little FYI when you take that reverse idler out you can bang on the back side of the pin it will take the pressure off the spiral snap ring and you can just pick it out so much easier.

What is the long term reliability after the rebuild. I heard they don’t last long. I have no clue about transmissions and need an honest opinion

G&W tool company sells these tools you can call them and tell them what model transmission you are working on and they will set you up with the correct tooling.

What’s the difference between the fro 15210c and the fro 16210c will the same counter shaft bearing puller work for the fro 15210c and fro 16210c on the front and back bearings what if the bearings are destroyed is there a puller to pull the cone race on the shaft only what puller did you use to remove the rear axilary shafts Left/right bearings did you make that counter shaft hook please help I found many tools on line just don’t know what to get thank you

If it’s a FR or FRO those transmissions all take the same tooling. As far as the broke bearing on the countershaft you need to cut it with a cutoff wheel or just carefully knock it off with a hammer and chisel. I have 2 hooks the red one is a hay hook from tractor supply the silver one a friend made for me.

Sorry about the floor. Yeah it’s a little rough but we don’t repair anything on the floor so we’re not too worried about it. We use tables and stands here at our shop. We would probably have cleaner floors if we “lost or shit” every time we got some oil or grease on it. But we deal in high work volumes here and focus more on getting the customer fixed and out in a timely manner.

This is all good but it's dying out fast. The automobile started mass producing automatic transmissions in 1949. City and tour buses went automatic in 1956. In the 1960s manuals were not produced and many cars were offered as an option saying they were for performance but not anymore. Here in 2022 going forward even the corvette doesn't offer any corvette with a manual transmission period. Now we see all new semi trucks being produced with automatic transmission, even CDL schools are training new drivers of tractors on automatics. Why it took commercial vehicles to change over to automatic transmission is beyond me but the cost was a factor as well as old school thinking.
