Learn from the best in the industry. These step by step videos are intended to help the diy drivers out there and the young man or woman who wants to learn some of this stuff without having to pay some technical college. In these videos we try to hold nothing back so everyone can get a good grasp on what to do and what the next step will be when working on these units. Our main goal here is to try show young and old people that this stuff isn’t that hard to do. We hope these videos help. Thank y’all very much for watching! Have a good day!

Show me the another back of the mack transmission practical practical
Ok so what you’re saying is, if the engine is running and air is supplied to the truck, it’ll be ok because it’s spinning and splashing the oil around as it should be?
Got a RTLO-18918B transmission, the transmission does a loud popping sound with jakes on and gearing down anything above 5th gear
Devcon 2 part epoxy P/N 10240 Follow the directions fully !
Soooooooo opinions on the C7S? I have an ‘09 Bluebird 150k miles with one. So far so good but bought it before I read some other opinions 😬😬😬
Hey, can you help me with the oil that I need to do to change the oil on my transmission?
Made in china says right on it. Buy American USA made parts.
Appreciate that! Why does it look like a copper shoulder down in the bottom of my bores?
Can you help with a hint pls. Ive the same box in Hino tipper and experience grinding on 5th and 7th. been quoted 10k Australian to recondition box only. Does this seem reasonable? Seems like a lot of money to me. The truck cost me 50k Australian with less than 150 000kms on clock. Any advice would help . Your work is impressive.
The way you snap open the circlips is astonishing
The CAT C7 is one of my favorite Caterpillar motors. I love the ones used in the 1st gen/04-07 BlueBird Visions and BlueBird All Americans, love the engine!
Wwwwwwwoooooo
2024 and this video still helping a bunch! Appreciate the part numbers as well!!
Do you not check the ring gap before fitting on the piston?
Very nice 👌
Still has many miles to go right?
If the pinion bearing preload is so loose that you have to hold it with a pry bar to check backlash and drag it by hand to squeeze out pattern grease, then it is to loose. Preload is critical to the life of the unit. Also double check the ring gear runout by putting dial indicator on smooth back surface of ring gear, turn. Max allowed is .008" on the 404 if too much runout, unbolt diff cases, rotate 180° reassemble. It's a quality of manufacturing issue. Most good mechanics can build a rear that works but industry experience builds a better unit
I’m having the same problem but I installed a new clutch and still does the same thing
My rt14614 Eaton 15 speed is sending air from my deep reduction cylinder to my shifter making it leak but when I put my splitter in the forward position the air stops but I have no deep reduction gears why is this happening
Have an 8LL. Gear travel is loose and now it has excess travel to the point its lost the gear pattern. I have gotten it back into the gear pattern but now cannot engage 3/7? Thoughts?
Good vid, ty!
Thank you bro you a master . I have learnt a lot
Do u breakdown a c15 acert?
Great videos iok really learnt a lot from them do you any video on super ten?
Good job sir
You can use a brass wire wheel with a drill and smooth out that rusted cylinder. I did that to mine and its still going 3 years later. Get a new piston kit tho and grease it really well
Exelente good job...greanting from Honduras..contrybCentrl América.😊
Hallo fron Honduras.
Fantastic explanation!
I notice u didn't use plastic gauge like I see on most videos
nice no shortcut ,bandaid, balingwire fixes ,your the best ,what about a (maxitorque 13, mak truk?)
I'll take off in 9th after i let the trucks coast down hill for about 2 minutes lol
Mine will go into 1st gear but grind real bad going into every other gear. Do you think the clutch brake is not stopping the transmission? It's pushing the throwout bearing into the pressure plate.
Don’t use the clutch brake when moving.
This is not a knock on what you do, I have a few genuine questions. One, you did not use the standard tightening sequence for the main bearings, (inside to outside), do you feel that is not necessary? There was no use of plastigage to check mains or rod bearings for clearance, again do you feel unnecessary? Again, the torque pattern for the head seems odd, I really don't know if this is spec for this particular engine, I have never built this engine, but it seems odd from all the engines I have built.
What if you leave the rwd or 4wd vehicle engine running and in neutral while towing?
I've rebuilt the C7 engine at least 10 times, I thought they assembled really well. The common failure I saw on most of them was piston failure, I think they were aluminum one piece and the skirts would some how get destroyed, causing really bad blowby. Nice touch changing the injector harness, those were always hardened and brittle.
hello what is the difference cat C7 and C7.1 ?
@@CR7_XJJ The 7.1 is completely different in design, and I think was originally was made by Perkins.
@@ridindirtyface i see C7 or C7.1 I am confused if is most of same
Thank you for this video, really helped replace o rings on splitter
at 14:17 you fitted the flange , Isnt there a rotary shaft seal to go inside that flange to stop oil leaking past the input shaft ?
No sir the input shaft has reverse spirals cut into the shaft that when the engine is running pulls the oil back into the case. There is however a shipping seal located there from the factory it is not needed during a repair or replacement of the input shaft. The shipping seal does nothing but keep oil from leaking past the input shaft when the transmission is in the vertical position during storage.
@@etrtruckcenterenginedrivet8918 Thankyou Sir :) Been watching videos to see if i can learn enough to rebuild a 9 speed which wont downshift 5th to 4th , Many experienced mechanics dont attempt to repair these transmissions , They tell me "Send it out" ;)
Exceptional. I've rebuilt my share of motors and really appreciate the methodical approach, clear instructions and Attention to detail. Liked and subscribed.
Hey, great video! Could you check your email. 👀
Can you reuse the same head bolts ?
❤❤❤❤
I have the same issue on my 379. Wondering how much this repair is gonna be?
I have a freightliner cascadia 2016 and just put in a new (self adjusting clutch) basically what was installed when trk was new. I have had so many issues with this clutch. I have maybe 2500 miles on this new clutch and indicator shows 50% now. I had no issues with my transmission until putting this scrap metal in. So basically can this be fixed or just remove and install something else. Pretty sure freightliner not going to warranty this OEM part.
I have a 13 speed. My truck is leaking air at the red splitter button, but only in high gear. I drain my tanks regularly. And have rarely encountered water draining from the tanks. It is an eaton fuller trans, not sure of model. But it is in a 22 lonestar, wiki 320k miles. It just started yesterday, and the leak is faint. But aside from it being annoying, I'm worried it's going to lead to further problems down the line.
It could be an issue with the splitter cylinder possibly rust on the inside causing air to bypass around the oring in the piston/cylinder wall.
Thank you for this video. It helped me to understand what rotates and what doesn't!
Yessir thank you for watching
Really enjoy the videos. I would assume that you could extend the life of the synchro's by going to neutral and back in gear with every split vs leaving it in gear for a split?
It's not from the take off, it's from the driver jamming into 4th at a stop without using the clutch brake, and/or revving it and dumping the clutch. 5th's damage is clearly foreign object damage, likely from the broken bits of 4th.
wouldnt want him rebuilding my unit
Where is Your shop and what do You charge to remove, rebuild & replace a C7 CAT motor, in a 2005 Thomas bus?
